I don't think it has strict rules like "the church is where everyone moves on". The church was just a cool setting for the end of the show, and naturally it's a perfect fit for Christians "funeral", the thing to make the last person of the group remember. I think if Ben, Danielle and Alex are ready to "let go" in their own house, they can walk into the light. Everyone should be free to let go in their own time, with the right people, wherever they choose. That's what I'd like to believe, anyway.

BSG, unfortunately, throws its characters out the window at a whim whenever they felt like they needed to change things up. They're replaced by people that look like them (sometimes wearing a fat suit or an eye patch, but more or less the same) but act completely different for no particular reason.
