The hiatus is over. Tune in tonight!

TV Guide Description:

"Raised by Another"

Jack, Kate, and Charlie begin to wonder if Claire's nightmares are coming true, threatening not only her life, but the life of her unborn child.

Damn you =P

Synopsis sounds really stupid. I hope this show quits meandering and fuckin' around.

At the very least, I hope it keeps enough viewers to be a decent lead-in for Alias (or is Alias going to become its lead-in)?

Heh, sorry Border.

I think there's potential to learn quite a bit about the island tonight(or at least kill a few theories), so I'm not turned off too much by the description.

What does turns me off, is Nick and Jessica's Family Christmas which follows. I'll take an acid enema over suffering through something like that.

Jesus fuck christ, my roomates are in the living room watching basketball and here I am with the volume entirely too loud while that happens for thirty seconds.

God dammit will somebody please shut that bitch up.

"So I'm walking with Scott and Steve, and I realize...Who the hell are Scott and Steve?"

Good question.

Damn, I didn't get the Alias preview on my station, probably chose to air Canadian ads instead. Great episode though....
there had to have been a reason they kept showing Locke at the end. Either he's a spy for the bad guys (after meeting that "thing" in the woods...) or something else
argh, crazy episode...opening up so many more questions.

Well, the episode was a bit slow but it looks like there's no way next week can be dull.

When does the show go on winter hiatus? I've got a feeling that they are going to leave us with a killer cliffhanger until the 2005 episodes...

I don't usually watch the previews, because they always seem to make the week's wait even longer, but did they drop a bombshell in the previews for next week's ep? I don't want to be left out of the discussion if that's the case. :lol

Not really.

I think the reaction you're seeing is from the twist(which everyone probably saw coming a mile away) tacked on to the end of what had been a pretty liesurely-paced episode. Very poorly directed, in my opinion.

The preview for next week does look promising though. A "chase" episode.

It's funny, I usually forget what was in the previews by the time the next episode rolls around. Then when the episode airs I'm always like "Oh yeah, I remember seeing that last week".

No major discoveries in the "Next Week" preview, though I think without seeing it you can tell that there is obviously going to be a lot going on.

TVTome's episode guide describes the next episode as "Jack-centric". That's nice, but I was kind of hoping we could have a few episodes that weren't 50% flashbacks.

Very simply put...uh, wow?

For any fans of Alias, got a total Alias vibe from the episode.

The whole psychic's prophecy thing was like textbook JJ. I mean, this is absolutely insane.

I still contend that Rousseau gave birth to a baby on the island, and it has some control over this shit. A great way to end this episode, really. It kind of all came full circle.

On the whole, because of the Alias vibe of the flashbacks, I dug it. Definitely picked up once we got to the finale. Tom Cruise's cousin is teh EVIL

Preview for next week (CTV's anyway) was:
"We've got to find Charlie and Claire!" Locke, Jack, Kate, Boone, etc. all run off into the jungle searching for them. 'Brave the jungle' the voiceover dude said. So, chances are that, in fact, the whole monster thing may be coming into play more specifically next week...
which I believe is the last until January. They're reairing the pilot on the 15th.

Yes, next week should be the last of this initial order.

With a cash infusion, the eps next year will probably have more action and represent the number of survivors better with a larger cast of extras.

Best episode since the Locke story. I had no problems with the pacing and liked how they ended it.
There was an eerie tension build up with the fortune teller and baby. So, when they discovered that there was one extra dude it made for an excellent OH SHIT moment.

"Canada huh. I love their, um, um.... Oh well see ya" :lol :lol :lol

Why does the evil dude have to be from Canada!

Wait, he's evil. That means he's probably an American trying to give Canadians a bad name.

You know,
Sawyer is smart - and suspicious of others enough - to have probably looked over the manifest himself. It seems to me like there's a good chance he already knew that there was an extra person on the island. Maybe that's why he was so willing to hand the manifest over to Hurley ... he wanted the other survivors to realize that Ethan was an extra person?

lol, there's some speculations that the people in the island are connected in some way before they even got to the island and guess who else is from Canada? "Freckles".

Canada has long been the country where the most villainous men hail, but their government and puppet countrymen have covered up their lies and mischief. No more!

Slow start to tonights episode but man did it hit me in the head. I kind of new something was up with the evil canadian when i saw his basket and how well weaved it was. Made me kind of think a little, but the thing about the fortune teller was a little freaky. Why would he send her to this fate?

In real life, yeah. But on the show? I can't remember where they said she was from.

Hmm.. maybe it was Canada. I remember the farmer asking her. Yeah, come to think of it, she did say Canada.

Alright, nevermind!

Oh, and she's awesome. I saw her in an interview. She has a wonderful personality, beyond being beautiful.

Cool episode, after a couple that I didn't think worked as well.
I was suspicious of Ethan when he appeared in the last episode, but the moment Charlie sent him to get Jack, I knew the trouble was coming.

Hurley is great. I loved his comments about his name, and his little investigation, even though he wasn't very good at it.

Locke remains quite the enigma, especially with his appearance in Claire's dream. He's someone to watch out for, what with his mysterious survival of the monster encounter and all.

I might add that I think it's bullshit that the synopsis that ABC gave it is just plain factually incorrect. No character even remotely suggested the idea that her dreams were coming true.

Oh, and this was the tenth episode, so there are still three more episodes to conclude the initial order. I checked, it was definitely 13 episodes. The 11th episode is merely the last we get before the break, but it's not the last of the initial order.

The 11th airs next week. The 12th episode will air sometime in January, and if I had to guess I'd say January 12th since the 5th has the two hour Alias premiere. So... about a month :(

I don't think there'd be a reason for a break between the 13th and 14th since the additional 9 episodes were ordered back in October. I doubt ABC would want a break just a couple episodes in during the new year. At most a week.

Damn, this episode really kicked ass, I absolutely LOVED how
In Claire's dream Locke's eyes had been replaced by the light and dark playing pieces, that was a disturbing/awesome image
, and I love the total what the fuck last ten minutes of the show ending.

So the add'l 9 episodes are still part of the first season? Rockin'.

Yes, definitely. We'll get a full 22 episodes this season. ABC's splitting it even, 11 episodes in late '04, 11 episodes in the first half of '05. Not sure how that will work though, considering there's a longer traditional broadcast period for the winter/spring period. Will they end Lost before May sweeps, or spread it out with reruns or other specials peppered throughout?

I already can't wait to buy the first season on DVD.

Is there any chance I could get some kind soul to take some High Resolution screen captures of the dream sequence I mentioned in my previous post?

Good call, but Hurley has the manifest now, so he'd be able to figure out Sawyer's real name, unless of course Sawyer had his name legally changed to Sawyer. Kate's the only one who knew, at least before this episode, that Sawyer wasn't his birth name.

So, either Sawyer's name on the manifest is Sawyer, or Hurley knows his real name now. Otherwise, at least logically, he would have been confused about the identity of someone on the manifest.

Hurley was awesome this ep. Funny how Sawyer gave in to him so easily.

Yeah, I can't help but wonder whether Sawyer already knew what Hurley was about to find out (see my post above) and was trying to make sure Hurley figured it out too.

Haha, that's what I get for typing and barely thinking at 2:30am. That, and the alcohol in my system. Fixed.

Check this out, rearrange the letters: Ethan Rom = Other Man

Dan

No, I got it elsewhere :(

I rarely, if ever, see stuff like that. When I'm analyzing a show or movie, rearranging the letters of a name is never something that I think of doing.

Well who ever figured that out prolly just got done readin the Da Vinci Code.

lol, there's some speculations that the people in the island are connected in some way before they even got to the island and guess who else is from Canada? "Freckles".

Or so she says. She was on the run remember.

Wow, just watched it! GREAT episode imo. It really brought out some more questions, even if some seemed like they were added on at the last second or something.

Locke makes a huge discovery. Someone will build a raft to try to escape. We'll meet other folks on the island who weren't on the plane, and learn two secrets about Hurley. The Bermuda Triangle continues to overlap with the Jack-Kate-Sawyer Triangle. (''I have a feeling that in the near term, it'll be Sawyer and Kate, and in the long term, it'll be Jack and Kate,'' says Fox. ''[But] there's not a whole lot of room for romance in the situation that these people are dealing with.'') Let's also heed this advice from Lindelof: ''The flashbacks serve as a great conduit to learn more about these characters, but that's not all they're there for. The idea that these people — way before they got on this airplane — have interacted with each other either directly or through third parties is one of the cool pieces of tapestry of the show.''

Also, at some point soon, Sayid links up romantically with one of the other women on the island.

As for the crazy animals, a cargo plane shipping zoo animals also crashed on the island once. This will become evident in the next few eposides.

I’m surprised no one else mentioned this but I knew [Spoiler}something was up with Ethan for sure when Charlie found him because he was carrying a pile of sticks, sticks just like the one that hit Syied (or however you spell his name) over the head. Ethan obviously did that.[/Spoiler]

Awesome episode. Next week looks intense.

I wonder if Ethan could be the "Alex" that Danielle (the French woman) spoke of?

And do you think we'll eventually see a reappearance of Jack's father?
