All I know is that there eventually will be flashfowards that will be revealed to be flashfowards at the end of season 3, somehow there are flashsideways that I don't really understand how that will work, that Claire is related to Jack (which I would have guessed anyways from Ana Lucia's flashbacks)... and that's it. Oh wait, "KATE, WE HAVE TO GO BACK" cause that meme was everywhere.
I guess that will take away the impact of Through the Looking Glass.

Season 2 definitely brought the mythology at full speed. It started all the mysteries of the island and expanded it from just Survivor with monsters.
To an extent. Yes, we learned about the button. Yes I wanted to learn about what would happen if you didn't press it all season. But this all occurred at the onset of the season. The middle part of the season really, really dragged.

I never watched the show during its original run. That's 6 years where I picked up bits and pieces of information about a show I didn't know I would watch. It was inevitable.
I knew Boone was going to die going into season 1, that still didn't take away the impact from his death.

And on the sixth day the LORD David Bowie created man and woman in His image. And he saw that it was good. On the seventh day the LORD created videogames so that He might take the bloody day off for once.

Yeah, I can see how that would work, but that's the luxury you have for having an ending and having the ratings that Lost did to work its plot over six seasons.
I know I have a while to go, but I'm constantly surprised by how different the show is compared to my expectations. I can understand why shows have failed to emulate it because of how poorly they understand what made Lost great.
Eh? I never expected to watch the show because I felt like I was too far behind. A bunch of my friends watched it and I happen to pick up in some episode based off of a Lewis Carroll where they're actually flashfowards. It just sort of happened.
A man who has had a terrible life and is incredibly sympathetic vs. a smug, "oh I know what I'm doing FAITH IN THE ISLAND" oh wait I killed Boone oops.
Even though Jack is a little too boy scout for my taste and is at his best when he's in flashback, I still take his side in most cases.
EDIT: I'm also pro-Paula Malcomson dying in every TV show she's in. I would create a television show, cast her, and then kill her in the pilot.
Wait, so when does the 3rd season kick it into high gear, according to general consensus? Cause I've really, really liked A Tale of Two Cities, The Cost of Living, I Do
for a Kate episode
and Not in Portland (currently on Flashes Before Your Eyes). I really enjoy this so far, I was expecting far worse :lol

I just went past these episodes on my rewatch and none of the episodes are bad, but the thing is they range from medicore-decent. 6 straight episodes of nothing special and the show was clearly stalling. Not to mention Eko dies.
I wasnt liking the show very much at that point, lost my way a little bit just like some of the season 6 hate folk. All I cared about was the mysterys.

Oh my god, that must have been burtal. I Do was easily the best episode of out of the ones after the season opener and that ending... :lol :lol :lol :lol

yea, expose, sials, and Par Avion were all made of No (except for the island plot of Expose). and yet, they were mixed between the greatness of Flashes, Man From Talahassee, Not in Portland, etc.

Season 3 is great, I think the negative impact of those early episodes is largely diminished if you didn't have to witness ABC's horrible scheduling and it felt like you were going through months of nothing going on.

I don't want to keep updating based off of every episode that I watch but...
I know that people *really* didn't like it, but I thought Expose was excellent. It was like a dead people fest :lol
This also reminded me how much I miss Arntz and Shannon
And the ending... my God!
"Thanks, but I'm only a guest star, and we all know what happens to guest stars."
"Who the hell is Nikki?" "Who the hell is Paulo?"
"I don't trust this guy, we should have gone to Ethan"
"If I go up there, the plane's going to fall!"
So meta, so perfect :lol I guess I can see why it would be piss me off to watch live (what a huge break in the action) but it makes two somewhat unlikable and unnecessary characters more fun than half of the characters on the show.
On a completely unrelated note: Does anyone know of this picture that encapsulates the mythology and mystery of the show? I think I saw it on a wiki sometime earlier this year... the only thing I really remember was that there was the smoke monster coming off the side and that it was black and white. It wasn't spoiler heavy, but it just showed all of the different mysteries from the show. It might have looked like the Dharma Initiative, I don't remember because I didn't know what it was back then.

I still don't get why the Locke rescuing Mr. Eko from a polar bear and also joining a hippie commune that secretly grows marijuana doesn't get brought up for the "worst episode award".
That shit was at least five times as bad as Stranger in a Strange Land

I watched that recently and while yes its the worst locke episode(Locke episodes have been always been consistently strong) its not that bad, its got quite alot of funny moments and this scene is straight up one of the best scenes of season 3:
