I still don't get why the Locke rescuing Mr. Eko from a polar bear and also joining a hippie commune that secretly grows marijuana doesn't get brought up for the "worst episode award".

That shit was at least five times as bad as Stranger in a Strange Land
Further Instructions does get mentioned in the "worst" category. A lot. At the very least, it's easily the worst Locke episode.

But SiaSL features the gross adventures of Bai Ling and creepy Angry Jack, so it's far and away the undisputed champ. FI has a few goofy elements, but SiaSL is straight up offensive.

Stranger is NOT worse than Further Instructions. Stranger a least has an awesome Giacc bit at the end.

The worst episode of the show, anyway, is Fire + Water.

Fire + Water wasn't terrible. So far, I'd rank Stranger, then Further Instruction. Fire + Water is just forgettable, not terrible.

Woah, just noticed the "Last Episodes" soundtrack has a second bonus track. I only knew about the Parting Words Drive Shaft one, but there's a Moving On alternate version with Ukelele. Cool!

I have the soundtrack, and that's not true. At least I don't think it is.

What episode you on now ivysaur?

Skipping the gym. Watching One of Us (SO GOOD). I have class at 7 and need to make a phone call to a potential employer later, but I think I can make it to Through the Looking Glass.

Oh, and umm... I just got a text from some guys in my fraternity asking where I've been the past week. Shit :lol

Did anyone happen to know of that mythology picture I was looking for beforehand?

It might be an iTunes exclusive or something, I don't know. I just downloaded it and listened to it, so it's most definitely real.

Thanks, but I already downloaded and listened to it.
Is the track just called "Moving On" on disc one? I'm pissed that I don't have it.

No, it's on disc two. The last few tracks go like this:

Disc two:
Track 23: Moving On
Track 24: Parting Words (Drive Shaft) [Bonus Track]
Track 25: Moving On (Alternate, with Ukelele) [Bonus Track]

damnit. I'll buy it right now.

Thanks for telling me though. I'm a huge Giacchino fan.

No problem. Giacchino is pretty freaking awesome and his LOST music is amazing, so the more the better.

How do you people not love D.O.C.? I was tearing up like a little girl when Sun found out that the baby was Jin's. God dammit I love her and Jin so much.

I could see why this would be a bit annoying live, but it was an important episode for the series and extremely well acted by Yunjin Kim. Easily her best focus episode so far.

I've been waiting to get the complete set...but fuck it. Just ordered the S6 and S1 BRDs. I'll get one with every check lol.

Need to save the big money for black friday :lol . Also gotta get Assassin's Creed this Tuesday...

I get it now.

That was unreal.

The Man Behind the Curtain is majestic. Outside of The Man from Tallahassee, it's the best of the season. ivysaur12 will know this.

I just watched them both yesterday.

They're pretty damn badass

"You ever been to Jasper Alabama?"

"Yeah. Dont tell me im you're daddy"

"No, you killed my daddy"

"I was of the ones smart enough to not end up in that ditch, which makes me considerably smarter than you john"

I have some issues with Behind the Curtain, just because the cabin is really the thing that makes no sense to me now it's all wrapped up. Outside of little things, like Ben pushing or not pushing the button, there is nothing expect the cabin I don't really get.

ivysaur12, DON'T HIGHLIGHT THIS

Why does he take John to the cabin? Jacob was there many years ago, but Ben had never met him.

Why does Richard have an argument with Ben about taking John there if they both knew Ben didn't know where Jacob was?

Why does Ben ask UnLocke if he's met Jacob before if he thought he did when Locke was told to move the island?

If your answer to any of this is Ben was pretending, why does Ben say "I hope you're happy Jacob" when he's turning the wheel?

Ben thought it was an abandoned cabin that once belonged to Jacob, but he led John out there to make him feel like a fool and be jealous of him.

I just rewatched to make sure, but Ben doesnt talk to Richatd at all about Jacob in TMBTC.

When did Ben ask Unlocke if he's met Jacob? Its obviously not in TMBTC.

Ben knew about Jacob he'd just never met him. Remember although Ben did alot of bad things, he truly cared about protecting the island, and while he never met him he did everything he could for Jacob.

I didn't mean to imply those were in that episode, they are just my issues with the logic of the cabin.

OK, but when does Ben ever ask Unlocke if he's ever met Jacob? Also like I said, when does Richard ever have an argument with Ben about taking Locke there? Because I dont remember one.

Ben asks Unlocke when they enter the foot, Unlocke and Jacob start talking and Ben asks if they've met. I can't remember exactly when Richard and Ben argue about the cabin.

I'm in the middle of re watching season 5 right now and a few questions have popped up in my head that maybe you guys can answer.

1. When Locke leaves the island, christian (who I'm pretty sure in this instance is the MIB) tells locke that he was supposed to move the island, not ben.

If that's the case, how would that serve MIBs purpose? If locke moved the island, how would he know he had to bring the others back, better yet, die?

2. After locke turns the wheel and widmore ends up the desert, he tells locke that he has to go back to the island or the wrong side will win.

At this point, Jacob has supposedly already contacted widmore and "shown him the error of his ways." But if Locke doesn't go back to the island, doesn't that mean the right side wins? Jacob won't be killed.

If that was the only thing that made no sense...

The mess with the cabin is part of what makes it pretty obvious that the whole thing about "Jacob's enemy" was a late improvisation, and Christian was indeed supposed to be speaking on Jacob's behalf at that point. The showrunners probably thought that introducing another god-like entity who would be working against Jacob would be conveniently confusing and help with some contradictions here and there...
"Why would Jacob do that?" Well, maybe it was really the other guy!
Not that it would magically turn that mess of a plot into something that's internally consistent, but as long as viewers are confused/fooled...

The showrunners themselves don't know how the whole thing was supposed to work between Jacob and Ben...
"Did Jacob really have a list? Not necessarily. "The idea that Jacob had a list that he furnished to the Others or to Ben is up for debate," Lindelof said. He suggested that Ben Linus (Michael Emerson) might have just invented the idea of the list to get Jack to operate on him."
Or maybe not so "up for debate", Lindelof, considering:
1) Pickett talked about how "Shephard wasn't even on Jacob's list" in "I do" (season 3)
2) Ben confronted Jacob about those lists in the season 5 finale ("Richard would bring me your instructions - all those slips of paper, all those lists - and I never questioned anything.")

Barring a few exceptions (most of them accidental), I've seen each episode of the series just once. And past season 2, it was just to have a good time laughing at them. So how come I know that, and the showrunners don't?
Simple: they never gave a fuck.

Eggtown is probably the best Kate centric episode of the show. Probably because it doesn't focus on Kate's boring past.

I just hope that the flashfowards don't take away from the mystery of islands being solved eventually.

Also, Farraday is awesome.

So I just watched The End for the first time since May. I think my feelings on it are cemented now. Frustrating from the this-is-the-best-they-could-come-up-with? plot perspective, but incredibly powerful and touching from a character and emotional standpoint. The double whammy of the Claire/Kate flash and the Claire/Charlie flash really got me bad. AGAIN.

The End is easily the best episode of the show.

The rest of the show is a bit of a joke compared to how good that episode is frankly.

Its so above and beyond.

Edit: Also I love it from a plot perspective, I love the answers we got.

The best answers were the ones where they didnt straight up say the answer to them like "the light"

Lets not get carried away, saying its the best episode is one thing, but I don't think it puts the other greats of the series to shame or anything.

I am getting carried away, but its by far the greatest lost episode.

JACK FUCKING SHEPHARD

What a fucking (flawed)hero

I think the thing that is holding me back with The End is how I still don't know how I feel about the sideways and how it was handled throughout the season. It was introduced brilliantly and ended brilliantly, but a lot of the sideways stuff before Happily Ever After still kinda feels aimless to me.

Would everyone agree that the light on the island = heaven, goodness in all mankind?

And that it counterbalances the "Hell, malevolence, evil darkness"?

I would especially like to know what Solo thinks, because i think im right in thinking that he thinks the light = electromagnetism and thats it.

It was a way to tell character stories again, and it was a way to see on rewatch how they could overcome problems they had in their lives, become the person they want to be and to let go.

Jacob and the Man in Black is pretty much God vs. Satan.

In fact, I was so sure of this that I bet MiB's name starts with an S.

Listening to the Last Episodes CD's now.

Awesome stuff.

Can't wait for Christmas, I'll finally be able to watch that extra bonus disk from the complete set. It's been very hard to abstain from buying it.

I want to see someone cut out the flash-sideways and edit them together after the eye close...would be an interesting way to watch the sideways (as an epilogue).

Watching the season 4 finale right now. Sun is so badass taking control of her father's company was awesome.

Still, this season has been rather frustrating even though its quality is undeniable. Having the entire season based around them getting off the island and knowing who the Oceanic Six are... I don't know. It didn't entirely click with me. A lot of teasing, especially when the entire season takes place over 9 days.

Still, it was super great save for one or two episodes. Definitely the most consistant season thus far. Even though I haven't finished the finale yet, I'd say 4>1=3>2, at least so far.
