I will tell him that I should be thanking him every morning when I wake up, along with Jesus, for giving me another day.

Oh, so you're all the way caught up :lol

wasn't that episode just fucking perfect?

Oh yes - I watched S1, S2, and S3, plus all 7 eps of S4, in like 12 days :lol

4.07 was one of the best individual episodes of the entire series. Ive always found the Don-Peggy relationship to be the lynchpin of the whole show, and they knocked that one out of the park.

EDIT: eat it, mccoy!

On my will-get-to-eventually list along with The Wire. Mad Men sat on that list for 3 years, so it can take some time :lol

yup, most compelling main character dynamic for me since Jack-Locke. It really is something special, and key to the show's appeal.

Thats actually true, AND brings us back on-topic :lol I never thought of it like that, but there are some similarities between the two. Although I see Peggy not as a future Don like Jack was a future Locke-type, but rather I see Peggy as what Don used to be before he got all cynical and shit.

The Shield better be on that list too!
In the middle of season 1 right now myself. :D Has a nice pace to it so far.

Solo said:
I've seen S1 of it. But Ive never seen anything beyond that point, so I never mention it.

I actually didn't really like S1 myself. But S2, right from the start, is when it gets good. And then the last couple seasons are just some of the best tv you'll ever see.

Ill get around to it someday. Thank christ all these shows are on cable and follow the 11-13 episodes per season trend, making it doable. If they all aired on network TV and had 22 eps a season, I would give up.

I'll do the unthinkable and agree with a Erigu point. Jacob's master plan to prove his brother wrong is all kinds of retarded. The way he went about things was truly senseless. So much avoidable tragedy, all hinging on a massive ego trip. Incompetent douche :lol

Jacob helps those who help themselves.

Kate and Juliet are related as sisters.

I shit you not, look at what I just found out.

Wayne_2.jpg

The same guy, both are Kate and Juliets father.

The pic on the top is from The Incident. It's Juliet's dad.
The pic on the bottom is Wayne and I think it's from What Kate Did.

The theory basically states:
* Wayne fathers Rachel and Juliet with Mrs. Carlson.
* Wayne cheats on her with Diane and Diane gives birth to Kate.
* Wayne and Mrs. Carlson divorce after she finds out about Kate in The Incident.
* Wayne, heartbroken over losing his daughters, begins drinking and comes to resent Kate for (in his mind) destroying his family.
* Kate kills Wayne just before the events of Not In Portland's flashbacks, Juliet finds out her father is dead and is upset over it, explaining her strangely weepy behavior in that episode.

^ woah... woah.

So because Jacob is flawed makes it a retarded story point?
It's not simply a case of being flawed. That part of the story requires a man - who has lived almost 2000 years - to handle the show's biggest "idiot ball" (to quote someone from earlier). As far as we know, his moratorium on human interaction was self-imposed. I'm sorry, but I just don't get what this dude absolutely, positively haaaad to prove, in order to benefit mankind. So yeah, Jacob's nonsensical logic does put a damper on my suspension of disbelief.

Plus, his hardline stance on choice and free-will was down right contradictory, considering his methods.

If he was portrayed as having aspergers or something, that'd make tons more sense to me. I kinda like that, actually...

lol. tv shows use the same actors for minor characters a lot.

To get his brother to stay put.

MIB leaving the island will result in a lot of innocent people dying. MIB's actions on the island can (and did) result in a lot of people dying. This doesn't affect him at all because he has no regard for the lives of others. If Jacob can prove to him that human beings are not what their foster-mother claimed to be--and that they are actually decent people capable of self-improvement--then MIB would be less likely to toss them around like ragdolls.

It's like that episode of Futurama with the Popplers, now that I think of it. :lol

Jacob was portrayed as a good guy. The writers are to blame for his "flaws".

Against a freaking smoke monster?

It's just fucking idiotic. Not because Jacob is supposed to be flawed / an asshole, but because the writers couldn't come up with a better excuse for the guy's actions. Same thing for Ilana carrying the mystery box all over the island: she tries to explain that away, and it makes no fucking sense. Are you going to argue that it's part of her character: she just loves to carry heavy boxes? It's just terrible, careless writing.

If Jacob can prove to him that human beings are not what their foster-mother claimed to be--and that they are actually decent people capable of self-improvement--then MIB would be less likely to toss them around like ragdolls.
Considering the guy apparently tends to slaughter them as soon as they arrive, that sounds fairly optimistic...
And of course, alternate solution: Jacob could simply not bring anybody on the freaking island in the first place.

And once he saw that his brilliant plan was making absolutely no headway, he stayed the course, stubbornly repeating the same pattern over and over for centuries. Human collateral damage be damned.

Jacob is insane, blader. You know this to be true ;(

He's the eternal optimist.

They finally confirmed where the island came from:

A yacht was traveling in the south Pacific when the crew came across a weird sight. Look at these photos and try to imagine the thrill of experiencing this phenomenon.

sight_south_pacific_01.jpg

A BEACH?

sight_south_pacific_02.jpg

NO!!!!This is not a beach;

sight_south_pacific_03.jpg

it is volcanic stones floating on the water.

sight_south_pacific_04.jpg

WHERE IS THE VOLCANO?

sight_south_pacific_05.jpg

UNBELIEVEABLE SITE SO TAKE PICTURES

NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE IT

sight_south_pacific_06.jpg

THE WAKE OF MY SHIP

sight_south_pacific_07.jpg

STAY ON THE EDGE OF THE WATER

then this was spotted,

ash & steam (SMOKE MONSTER) rising from the ocean..

sight_south_pacific_08.jpg

And, while WE were watching...

sight_south_pacific_09.jpg

A plume of black ash...HUGE CLOUD.

COVERING RED EVEN THIS FAR AWAY

sight_south_pacific_10.jpg

THEN THE SKY TURNS BLACK WITH ASH

AND THE OCEAN GOLD WITH SUNS REFLECTION

sight_south_pacific_11.jpg

OUT OF THE OCEAN MOUNTAIN PEAKS ARISE?

sight_south_pacific_12.jpg

MORE ERUPTIONS ASH AND CLOUDS

sight_south_pacific_13.jpg

THE MOUNTAIN PEAKS RISE HIGHER WITHIN MINUTES

sight_south_pacific_14.jpg

A brand new island formed...

sight_south_pacific_15.jpg

CREATION OF MOUNTAINS

sight_south_pacific_16.jpg

Can you imagine the thrill of being the first & only people to see a new island being created where there was nothing before?

^ fuck, that's incredible.

Straight up, he's a colossal buffoon. Not the loveable kind either.

It pains me to say this too, being a former hardcore Jacobite and all :/

Nice to see Solo back, and sporting a Don avatar!

Good for you.

This thread is like a place to LOST fans to get together, after the show is over. Be it many years later, or only months.

We can just talk about whatever.

Matthew Fox guest starring as Ronald Draper, Mad Men S5.

Lost lost half brother time!

My list is like the reverse of yours. I'm caught up with Breaking Bad, going through The Wire, and Mad Men is on my "I'll get to it when I can" pile.

The pile is large and vast.

Anyone know when iTunes usually updates their store? I doubt they'll update it right at midnight, but if they do, I'll definitely be up for it.

Put Sons of Anarchy on that list if it isn't on there already. Focuses heavy on characters similar to lost, although don't go in expecting that.

I just bought Moving On from the season 6 soundtrack a minute ago.

Yea, that's the Canadian store. Hopefully they put it up on the US store soon! I'm doing some boring homework and this would totally make my night.

EDIT: IT'S UP!!! It might have been there before, but I was searching for the "season 6" soundtrack when it's actually named "Lost - The Final Season (Original Television Soundtrack)". Downloading it now!!!

Listened to the whole soundtrack and it's great. They just HAVE to release another soundtrack for the last four episodes. After hearing how amazing all this music is, it would be absolute stupidity not to. In fact, I'm not even worried... I know they will, I have faith. But this soundtrack is definitely great. I love reading the descriptions on Lostpedia while I listen to the tracks too cause then I can recognize some themes I may have missed before and it makes me appreciate the music even more.
