I loved Lost too but lol @ people acting like everything is downhill from the show ending.

The Wire >>> The Sopranos >>> Breaking Bad >>> The Shield >>> Lost

different types of show bro. I can enjoy the other shows on their own merits. but for a sci-fi/fantasy show Lost was great drama but obviously not going to top those mentioned.

Well, it's a hell of a lot easier to pile up the intriguing! phenomenons and twists when you're not interested in having them make sense in the end...
Precisely, and I think that's more or less what they did. It was like a roller coaster that was designed to be so insanely wild that eventually all passengers were thrown from the ride and the track collapsed. But man, it was a hell of a thing before everyone got mutilated.

What are some of the subjects you'd wanna see expanded on the most?

They could conceivably do stuff about: The formation of Dharma; Trying to flesh out the Others' culture; The Egyptians; Previous Island Guardians; Island life post-The End. Maybe even just short stories about various no-name castaways throughout the ages. A lot of avenues they could take.

Yeah, you nailed it. There's a ton of room for creativity while staying canon to the series. It would be really awesome to look back at some of the events that Richard saw that we weren't able to see.

Would be awesome to see Dharma for sure, spend some time with them starting up...there's so much they can do without interfering with the show.

LOST is different for me, and I'm sure for many others, because of how it affected me on a personal level. Sure it isn't perfect, but nothing is. There are plot holes, there are things that aren't answered, but the experience was magical.

While I love shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Fringe, Game of Thrones, etc...none of them have me staying up late reading crazy theories that are often better than what the show ended up being.

There are those same theories for other shows, but there was something about LOST. It just hit all the right chords for me, where I was able to overlook one thing because another thing was handled so well.

Even if it isn't the best show, it's by far my favorite show ever.

Yeah right. Explain the actress that played Charlotte's age conundrum.
Just messing with ya. I agree with your last section 100%.

Yep on that list Mad Men would go between Breaking Bad and The Shield.

It really wouldn't fit. If you put Mad Men on the list with those other shows, people are going to be disappointed when they see it. It's like asking a Batman fan to sit down and watch Days of our Lives (not a jab at Mad Men).

I'm kind of surprised they haven't tried to do a TV spin-off with one of these things. Not to say that it would be as successful but ABC seemed desperate to try to get another show like Lost a spin-off could've been good. But then again it would likely be with different characters/actors, i'd still watch though.

Just watched the final episode. So fucking disappointing after all that time. Still so many unsolved mysteries.

Yeah I wish they explained the polar bears and what is up with that six toed statue and the pregnancy problems? Also the unicorn that Kate saw from her past. Seriously what is up with the magic box? Why was the man in black on the freighter and off the island if he cant leave the island?

The list goes on and on. Dont you feel the same pal?

Hold on. This was explained.

Pregnancy Problems too. Go watch the epilogue, it explains some things concerning Dharma.

What it comes down to:
Electromagnetism and it's research

The polar bears were trained to turn the donkey wheel so that humans didn't have to and wouldn't be transported away from the island while they were testing all that stuff out.

Pregnancy problems are explained in the epilogue, as someone else mentioned.

Kate never saw a unicorn, it was a black horse. There's an explanation of that out there somewhere.

The magic box was just smoke and mirrors by The Others, I think. I'd have to re-watch some of that, but 99% of the stuff Ben told people was misleading and manipulative.

Man in Black on the freighter was explained as it was still in the island's "bubble" of influence. Remember how they said it was like a snow globe? I guess he could travel within that globe's field.

Because that cave was cold. So polar bears. Obviously. Easy fix.
That parka was just Ben being extra smart.

Pregnancy problems are explained in the epilogue, as someone else mentioned.
And the pregnant Others stayed on the island to die instead of using their new DHARMA sub because... Er... Well, maybe they had to help with the kidnappings! Since they couldn't have children of their own, they had to do that so the Others wouldn't go extinct (+ Richard)! Of course! It all makes sense, actually!

Kate never saw a unicorn, it was a black horse.
But if she's not a human being nor a replicant, what is she?

There's an explanation of that out there somewhere.
The horse?

Or retconned ("if you want your child to live, every time you hear whispers, you run the other way!").

Man in Black on the freighter was explained as it was still in the island's "bubble" of influence. Remember how they said it was like a snow globe? I guess he could travel within that globe's field.
And the Hydra island wasn't in that field?
(and he showed up on that freighter as Christian because...?)

No, it was kinda dumb of you guys to try and correct the guy who's been answering questions (or trying to with what we were given in the show) and arguing with the other guy since the beginning of this topic, especially when he turned the sarcasm up so much

You're totally correct of course Erigu.

Tell me Erigu, what is it like to be correct all the time?

I hope you noticed but "My name is my name" is from a far superior show, wouldnt you agree?

You can't expect a Wire quote to go over well in a LOST thread.

If these people had seen The Wire, they wouldn't still be heaping praise upon LOST.

I've seen both shows and they both drop in quality in the later seasons. However, I enjoyed them both.

Your point?

Well pretty much everyone agrees(except for hardcore apologists) that the final season of The Wire is trash.
... Really, now?

I was thinking about that "they both drop in quality in the later seasons" thing.

Just turned on LOST music while I work, and...this thread is back up.

I like to see that...but then I come in, and the thread is shitty again.

It is funny to see the cycle...it disappears for a few weeks, comes back and the same posters have a quick round robin, and then it ends...and repeats.

The other night I read a bunch of reviews of the finale (and other key episodes) and had a grand ol' time reminiscing. I'm still listening to Jay and Jack's podcast, too. Though they really started slacking as soon as they started their PLUS feed.

No I will not pay for your feeds, you dicks.

Anyway...I miss LOST :(

Breaking Bad has been incredible though, so I'm pretty set right now...for two more weeks. :(
