Yeah, at the very (very) beginning. I thought the premise had potential.water_wendi said:Erigu, did you ever enjoy Lost?
Eh, I did a bunch of times already... ^^;Fry8 said:Lost S1-S4 is brilliant and not even Erigu can deny that.
Ah okay. i was just wondering because ive never seen a Lost fan completely enslaved and owned as much by the show as you.Erigu said:Yeah, at the very (very) beginning. I thought the premise had potential.
Erigu said:... Really, now?
I was thinking about that "they both drop in quality in the later seasons" thing.
Huh?water_wendi said:ive never seen a Lost fan completely enslaved and owned as much by the show as you.
Oh, okay. And I'd agree: season 5 of the Wire felt a bit weak in certain areas, compared to the previous ones.Merguson said:Not really comparing the both.
That does seem rather rare...I just think each show drops in quality in the later seasons. I haven't seen a show where the quality keeps up for more than 4 or 5 seasons.

He's as much a part of the community as any of us.
Sure he's brutally annoying and derails any positive thinking going on...but he's still a part of it.

Yeah, he also clarified on Twitter. Clearly, they didn't know what the whispers were yet then, of course not, but, y'know, 5+ years later... So it's all good!oatmeal said:How misleading...
He's talking about before the pilot had even aired.
Yeah, I still find that story about as convincing as the plot of the show.Nothing like LOST had ever been done before, they probably didn't think it would get picked up, let alone air and become a sensation.
Loved the bit about how the show made him "miserable", too. Sadly, no Giacchino score to sell it.jonpernisek said:
Two sides!! Light and dark!! Genius!!And everyone knows that the first season was mostly shit thrown at the wall

False alarm, guys! Lindelof is still a lying douche.

"Ah, Ben! So you took her newborn at gunpoint?I'm not sure what's wrong with that...especially if you assume it was used as a way to scare Danielle.
In the end, no, he didn't.Ben didn't really know much about anything anyways
Yeah, it was just this little most expensive pilot episode ever.Uhmm...if he was told that the show was a way to get to know Abrams, and get a shot at working on his primetime hit ALIAS, and was told by both his agent and JJ that the show wasn't going to go anywhere...why would he think differently?
Sounded a lot like "who cares [what the noise is]?"I'm sure he WANTED it to get picked up, but he was being cautiously optimistic about it? Or pessimistic...depends on how your glass sits.
He actually talks about the terrible pressure of having to know why there are polar bears on that island. Damn, how could you expect a writer to know what's going on with the story? That's just insane. The dude lived and breathed LOST for six years...even "good show runners" would get tired of producing that much television per year. I'm sure he loved it, but it was very overbearing for someone who had no showrunning experience. He had the most popular new show on TV and had huge expectations and was the first showrunner to be the face of a show.
Interviewed on talk-shows, constantly being asked questions...
How would that not be hard on someone?
I was just saying that people have argued (here, even) that it wasn't "mostly shit thrown at the wall", there...Why not throw some common themes into the mix, and if you need to call back to them, you can?
Well, I watched the actual show, too. We'll never know. But that's what we've been told.

Now that's some dedicated hatred.
Well, I try not to post unless I feel I have something to add. Despite all the scorn Lindelof and Cuse deserve, negative criticism was a bit of an underrepresented position, here, and I'm more than happy to stand in for those who quit the show before the end and thus can't discuss how utterly stupid the latter seasons were.Zeliard said:Can't help but find it vaguely amusing that nearly 28% of Erigu's overall posts since joining GAF have been in this thread alone.

Willy105 said:I'm surprised at the lack of post-TV show material for the series. No books or anything to continue the story.

I probably can't expect examples, right?when someone gives you a clear answer that doesn't fit your pigeon-holed point of view you crawl back to your hole, much like MiB.
That makes sense.what the hell would you know whether the show threads we had were love fests? you didn't post in them.

bachikarn said:Seriously? He backs up most of his stuff with actual facts and understands the show and it's fault better than a lot of people in his thread. He started getting condescending when the Lost circle jerk club couldn't find faults in his argument so he just started attacking him.
So much love for this mess of a show. NeoGAF, I am disappoint.
Anyway, about those spoilers regarding "the New Man in Charge", I think you might want not to get your hopes up regarding the identity of Hurley's interlocutor. Just because they talk about Locke, that doesn't mean Locke is the one. Based on that "maybe it's the island that's stuck with me" line (and what an original line that is! 'never heard that one before!), I wouldn't be surprised if that were the Man in Black (played by Titus Welliver?)...
I'm persistent, sure. Then again, I draw a lot of confidence from my interlocutors' lack of arguments. YOU'RE MAKING ME MORE POWERFUL.oatmeal said:There's probably no point.
You're kind of the king of the 'last word'.
Again, you seem to forget the show is right there. You can tell things based on the show. Like, y'know, how the writers clearly didn't give a fuck? Did I make that point yet? I thought I did.there's no RIGHT answer. It's either if you believe them or not.
There. No, his very first post in this thread was condescending.
(EDIT)
I apologize, not this thread...it must have been the finale thread.
Yeah, I loved the replies. And it was all downhill from there.
Indeed.Erigu said:I'm persistent, sure. Then again, I draw a lot of confidence from my interlocutors' lack of arguments. YOU'RE MAKING ME MORE POWERFUL.
You say this...but...Erigu said:Seriously, try some examples. Saying "there's no point" is a weak-ass excuse.
I disagree. But no matter what I'd say, you'll never agree with me. I could make the best case for how the writers 'gave a fuck' about the show and you'd dismiss it.Erigu said:Again, you seem to forget the show is right there. You can tell things based on the show. Oh, I didn't even think about linking the post. That's way better than what I did.Erigu said:
There's obviously a reason that we liked the show. It wasn't due to lack of 'delving deep into the inner workings of the show', it was a combined experience. I've never experienced anything quite like LOST-Gaf. It was my favorite 'forum' experience (I am saying that word too much) ever.Erigu said:I joined because I thought there were a lot of good topics on NeoGAF.
Then, one day, I figured I'd go and take a look at how the Lost finale went over.
That was disappointing. "Maybe they're being ironic! ... Oh... Oh... They aren't, are they? But maybe they'll just need some time to realize how terrible that was! Oh... Oh..."
(also, I didn't post in that topic right away just to confuse evil solrac v3.0: who would ever imagine people could simply read topics, right? it was a perfect plan)

bachikarn said:yeah, I guess you are right. He is kind of a dick. But his analysis is mostly on point, and most people just seem to pop up to bash him rather than his argument. I'd rather read a discussion of the merits of the show rather than people posting how awesome Walkabout was for the 500th time.
I guess I also tend to agree with what he says for the most part so maybe I'm biased. I loved the show at first, but just felt it completely fell apart in last two seasons.
