Episode 6.15 – “Across the Sea”

LOCKE’S MOTIVES ARE FINALLY EXPLAINED

Guest Cast
Ryan Bradford as boy in black

Boy In Black! Looks like we're finally getting a history of Smokey! And Kenton Duty plays the mysterious kid... I think this pretty much confirms him to be Jacob, and they're probably brothers.

Then I guess
his name will be Esau.

Allison Janney
as woman

There's absolutely no way in fuck they got her to play some throwaway, nameless extra. She's gotta be
Eve
or
MiB's crazy mother.

EDIT: Jesus fuckingChrist, her Wikipedia page already lists a spoiler. Don't go there.

I just looked up the actresses name to see if I'd recognise her from anything, and her Wikipedia page states what role she is playing on Lost. Not massively surprising.
Jacobs mother.

For the next episode:

I hope they don't pull a Star Trek and have all the people around Jacob speaking English. Unless Jacob is a Pilgrim (with an American English speech impediment), he should not be speaking exclusively English. Thankfully they didn't do that in Ab Aeterno.

Dead

well not really...yet
I dunno

considering the year that the episode supposedly takes place in...

I think all characters will just be speaking english and we will have to take it at face value...hope Im wrong though...

Small Spoiler here. Rumours were that the year this episode takes place in is
23AD

I can just imagine GAF's reaction if the episode opens up with the year at the bottom of the screen :lol

If the year is true, it surely can't be coincidence that Jacob and Smokey's flashback will, at least party, take place during the time of Jesus Christ. I really hope the show doesn't dive too deeply into Christian mythology.

Dead

Well again, it could not be true, but frankly it wouldn't surprise me

When Michael Emmerson teased the episode in some interview, he said
the episode would take place in a time period rarely, if ever, seen in a network TV show

That year would jive with what he said

Ah yes, I remember that quote. I have no problem with the time as long as the Lost mythology isn't somehow directly connected with, well, any established real world religion.

Jacobs mother.

Which absolutely confirms that Jacob and MIB are brothers.

And I'm sticking with my theory from the other thread:
their mother is the source of the "rules."

And we're using tags because there are all manner of spoilers in here, from small and insigificant, to bigger ones like what you just posted.

Still wondering if we'll get an explanation as to why Jacob and MIB speak in modern American accents with modern slang? :/

Because they've kept up with the evolution of the english language by always having new people on the island.

Don't complain about being spoiled if you're in a fucking spoiler thread.

Was just a theory. A pretty damn likely one, but a theory nonetheless.

Just admit you fucked up, man. Its cool, it happens to everyone. The unmarked stuff in this thread has always been episode titles and centricities. Pretty much everything else has been marked, even casting news. What you spoiler tag failed on is something that would be okay unmarked in the quarantine thread, but not here.

Anyways, if its just a "theory", then I guess everything will be fine.

I'm not sure if I'd find this to be a satisfactory answer, primarily because of the opening scene of The Incident when the Black Rock arrives in the 1800s. ..I dunno, just wondering at this point if there is any meaning to it.

Just an educated guess based on the cast. Not a "I went to DarkUFO and, yep, it's true!" spoiler.

I hope it takes place in some ridiculously far flung past.

It can be like the issue of the comic series Powers that is nothing but pre language humans grunting at each other and fucking. The fan reaction to such a thing would probably be the best thing ever.

Here's the photo from the Wired article, in all it's glory.

The wall with young pictures of all the actors is so cool.

I really can't figure out what that "flight #154, survivors find Locke, interrogate (incarcerate?) him." is. Is it referring to Ajira flight 316? It branches in a different direction. the whole thing seems liek a really rough draft of Season 5 .It has Sayid saving Locke from Widmore's people, Locke asking Ben to kill him, etc. Doesn't make any sense at all.

I think you're right assuming it's a rough draft of season 5. i wonder when they decided to go with 316 instead of 154 and why
