That's a great name lol*Ty4onion as well
Oh lord, I think I stepped in it with my whole "but would I play" thing. All I'm really saying is there was pretty much no traction on Flush until today and now people are bringing him up - but only I am trying to widen the lynchpool? Okay.
Okay, I realize I have a shitton of reading to do. Will do my best to get caught up.
After the flip I had to reassess my reads, because clearly I was wrong on FEPsune. kitty proposed you guys, I figured I'd give his reads the benefit of the doubt since my original ones were clearly off. We didn't go for anyone we thought was TOO townie because we didn't want to send a message to someone we thought might get NK'd.
Debating it with myself, probably not. If I was right then you are town and saying it would be bad for you. If I'm wrong it would still give some negative attention.
Okay, question. I keep seeing this be brought up by both of you but you both seemed very concerned with your survival and how you can use the messages to ensure you lived. Why would it matter that you sent a message ( which essentially amounted into a 'we'll call you when we need you' and nothing else ) to someone who was going to die or not? Now if you sent something like reads then that would make sense but both of your messages essentially break down into having a back-up plan that you could pull out if you needed help.
That doesn't make sense from a Townie perspective. :x
I thought the virgins make the hooker likely, regardless of Ourokitty's claim?Honestly, I think we're kind of speculating a bit too much. Without confirming Ouro/KK's role as a mailman, it's kind of difficult to even confirm the existence of a hooker.
Okay, I realize I have a shitton of reading to do. Will do my best to get caught up.
Well, three or so but it's just that you'd think by now I'd have learned not to create weird situations wholecloth. Maybe by game 5. Or maybe I will remain an awkward presence forever!??
Only two of us questioned you, not sure why you're getting so defensive over it. :x
Look you guys can doubt the strategy, the claim, or even our alignment. Go for it. But please at least come in here with something resembling a coherent argument. I don't know what's in the water here but so many of you seem to be drinking it.
If you're gonna indict the arguments, you gotta actually indict them, friendOuro. As I see it there are a lot of arguments in different quarters, some with more grounding than others, but they do tell a pretty coherent story - some voting issues, your defense of fepsune for reasons, your cageyness around the claim, kitty filling in the claim, a roleblocker that shouldn't have been on you both nights if it's a hooker, messages that didn't really do anything, and your insistence that your role has good utility despite your lack of use for same.
There's more, like, yes, the semantics of being Bowser/Waluigi rather than shipping them, some early things, notes about reads, etc., but the above seems to be the meat of it. So which part isn't coherent?
What is mafia if not also semantic bullshit and speculation, coupled with all the rest? I mean, honest question. I know all of the above can be frustrating, but so can so-called "gut reads," and people do that, too. It's all just tools in the toolbox, no?
1) Loved Goons are the best role evar! They're like soooo incredible! I want one for my kid's birthday party!
- No. While they have a use, it's at MyLo. FEPsune was already under considerable suspicion throughout D1/D2, so it's a sunk cost to scum. No reason to stick their necks out to save them to have to carry them through the next 3-5 days.
2) There's no evidence that there even is a scum roleblocker! Also it's really hard to play Mafia with my eyes closed!
- No. Even if you don't believe my roleclaim and night actions, the evidence of the Virgins' Role PM shows that there is a role that will disable them, and that role would just happen to be a hooker, AKA a scum roleblocker. There's no reason to believe they are neutral either, because what is their win condition? Block successfully X times? Roleblock is one of the highest priority roles out there, that's a super easy win condition. So no, there is a roleblocker, and it's scum.
3) You're just trying to get a counterclaim! We have so many players that are just itching to out themselves as a PR!
- Ok, fine, you think I'm doing that. So who is going to be the moron that comes out and counterclaims me? Hopefully no one, because that would be incredibly stupid. Even if someone does counter claim, all that does is buy me an entire day if we lynch the other guy first. WOOOOOOO REKT EVEN THOUGH MYLO HAS BEEN PUSHED BACK
4) Everyone else talked about Topic X for hours on end and my mommy told me not to jump off a bridge just because everyone else did why is that scummy
- So don't engage, don't make your thoughts known. If you're Town, talk about the problem and provide your input. If you're scum, feel free to hide in the background and enjoy your bottle.
5) This is such a bullshit role!
- Yeah, no kidding. You'd think I'd have come up with something better if it was a fake claim. There's like...tens of roles out there that are better.
6) How come your messages didn't include any special information (i.e. why aren't you also a Cop Tracker Ninja?)
- I have as much information as everyone else. The only extra bit I have is that my messages didn't go anywhere, so I was most likely roleblocked twice in a row. If you recall there was open speculation on D1 that I was a useful Town PR. Scum most likely took that info and ran with it. I'm always lynch fodder for appearing scummy, so no need to waste a NK on me when they can just block me and let Town hang me. My reads are all in the thread, so there's no extra info I need to provide (or even have to give).
7) Semantic bullshit
- Sure, go for it. Whatever helps you sleep at night.
That part is absolutely fine. Nothing I just posted has anything to do with an alignment and more about how dumb the arguments are. Either they are ignorant of other facts in the game, are misunderstanding how a role would work (assuming I have said role), or why does "my" (as in the person making the argument) does my clearly scummy behavior seem scummy to you?Ok, I was just mostly refreshing in between pulls in my game and never really had anything to say except for that 10/10 joke but Ouro, it more sounds like you just don't like the arguments. We're saying your actions just don't make sense through a town lens, thats not really incoherent.
That's completely irrelevant. My reads are in the thread. If I ever got confirmed as Town or got flipped, you have that motive to look at my reads then and there.I've never played in a game with a messenger - so maybe I'm wrong - but it seems to me that sending a message with reads or anything else helps highlight that if the (town) mailman is then killed. For things that otherwise might be missed. So like if I really wanted to make sure no one missed one part of an argument, especially if there's a lot of traction and discussion on it, I might put that in a message.
But that does come down to play style in the end, I guess. What actually puzzles me is that you claimed some utility in your role - not that it was amazing or anything - but I don't even see the utility with the way it was used. It's funny. It's a clue, sure, had the messages been received (granting truthfulness), but where's the utility, really? By your definition, since you said it.
I'm gonna try to be done for the night because I have work to do but moth, flame, etc.
This is the most reasonable thing I've read all fucking dayI can understand Ouro's frustration regardless of alignment. Some of the points are getting very nitpicky (such as Sorian's drawn out discussion about how the hooker could be town while also turning around and saying 99% of the time they will be scum). That being said I think a lot of this is due to there simply too much tangled up in Ouro's web at this point. I know a couple of people have cooled on him (Crimson comes to mind), but I just don't see how we move forward without an Ouro lynch. It will just continue to be a discussion each day phase until he is lynched or the game ends.
Uh...because if the player is dead that night the message is wasted?
Well, three or so but it's just that you'd think by now I'd have learned not to create weird situations wholecloth. Maybe by game 5. Or maybe I will remain an awkward presence forever!

Arguments are fine. Bullshit arguments are a waste of time.
It didn't make any sense. Pray tell what utility I should have been shooting for with my extra, extensive knowledge that I could have provided via my incredibly useful messaging ability
Should we have just messaged, "Sup dude! It's Ouro and Kitty! We're like totally Town and think you're super kawaii! That's how townie we are!"
Bullshit. Messaging can't prove alignment. You know that, we know that. There's no guarantee we would be able to perform any sort of self-preservation using our role. We came up with an idea, all odds against it ever even working. It didn't work. It probably wouldn't work had we not been roleblocked. But it's better than just sending love notes to other players with nothing of substance.
Or wait should I have been providing reads via message instead of posting them in the thread? That's the towniest thing I've ever heard! Especially if we end up targeting scum! Brilliant!
Well we wanted to target someone with whom we've had some friction, and hope that if it came down to it we could reveal at some point and hopefully assure that pair that we weren't scum. However, apparently nothing we've done has actually gone anywhere, so that didn't work.
The key word there is "hopefully." And it's not about our preservation so much as being able to have an unofficial group of "likely Town."That sure reads to me like you're goal was 'look, look! we're town, see??'.
Also there have been other people already telling you this but reads can change when someone flips, it happens. I'm not saying stick your reads in the messages and then sit around and do nothing but in the off chance that you got NKed wouldn't you have rather got your thoughts out to someone rather than just letting them die with you??
I'll be honest - I'm kind of over this day phase. I've said about all that I feel is worth saying. My thoughts on the game state, today's lynch, and what it can reveal are out there. I'm fine with holding off on a turbo if that's what everyone wants - may be nice for those just joining us. I highly doubt I'll post much more though unless the topics being discussed change or the new players joining us catch up enough to discuss matters.
+3 with Natiko and Sorian but also it may be impossible for me to be quiet so there's that. Looking forward to the new perspectives.
Well when I flip mailman, feel free to finally believe there's a Hooker.
Oh you've got plenty of issues, I know.I do believe there's a hooker. That's not really my issue here.
And I never said anything about confusing the recipient. Stop putting words in my mouth.
Jesus christ. I just can't with your conspiracy theories.
Ok, you get a message with reads. Who's it from? Are they scum? Are they town? Are they legit reads? Are they trying to misdirect you? If you had a message to send, what would you have sent? Reads don't mean shit from a PM, since you don't know who they are from or what their alignment is. And why wouldn't I just post the reads in the main thread anyway? Why bother sending them over PM? What other info would I possibly have? "Oh, Fran, by the way we are also Cop Trackers, and we saw Sorian sticking his Scum finger into Verelios's ass on N1, so clearly we should lynch them!"
Also CzarSketch was barely active but most likely not a night kill. How is that a bad target considering we wanted our message to actually reach someone that would be alive? What crazy world are you living in
Maybe I missed it in my reading, but did you consider that maybe they didn't want to respond?
That's a great name lol
