Love Live! School Idol Festival |OT2| Despair comes in a pink envelope

That feeling when you finish a FC 3x Expert Medley with all five your great/perfect support still available.

I'm really enjoying this event, though. It's nice being able to sit down and play three songs continuously like this with the score/completion carrying through the entire way. It's going to be difficult to go back to token events, thankfully I still enjoy Score Match.

It makes me wonder how high the tier 2 cut-off will be. It's a new type of event, so people are probably going to indulge themselves more than usual.

For JP the cut-offs are usually at 75k-80k mark. Considering both version's playerbase I guess EN will be around 70k probably?

It depends on the popularity of the character though, last Eli medfest in JP has an 87k cutoff.

Thanks for this, I'll try to plan according.

Granted there's no telling we'll reach the same levels, but it seems like a decent enough planning point.

Wow, is playing one handed actually a thing?

Also, playing a three song medley should give you better chances at Gold/Silver rewards than one or two songs, right? Since I'm not using Gems and don't plan on tiering I'm mostly concerned about the skill up rewards. I've gotten like three or four so far.

Also, what are Gold rewards? I think I've only gotten Silvers so far.

I used to do easy with one hand just for fun a couple of times but expert. Naahhh those LP are way to valuable to even try that :p

hmm... if cutoff ends ~70k I'm probably gonna be using ~16 gems total. 18~19 if 75k x_x

that's not a sustainable Gem usage. 10 gems from event pts, 1 from SR, 1 from Event N, 1 from outside Event N, ~3 from attendance, 16 total. deficit of 2-3 gems if 75k cutoff. 5-6 if 80k. either way, I won't be able to build up Love gems for White Day Umi at this rate.

hope that the decreasing player participants means it won't reach that high though right now it seems to be 65.7k before factoring in final hour jumps.

Closest thing we get is a full nico team sadly. But when multiple activate at the same time they just say the same thing.

I forgot you'll need all those Nicos for the Nico badge!

Hey, the gold struggle is real right now for Barrylocke the newb. I've got maybe 30 Ns level maxed right now. Seeing how important gold is during the Medley fest made me shed a tear. I'd definitely love to get more powerful Pure cards. My Pure team is full of a bunch of those maid healers, and only one card (an SR Umi) is able to perfect lock, which I'd really appreciate for the Medley challenges. Meanwhile my Cool team has a lot of Perfect lockage.
You don't really need to spend gold for the most part unless you are trying to tier. Perhaps the only one that is necessary is the one for score bonus if your team isn't strong enough.

MedleyFest effectively mirrors ScoreMatch in terms of the shape of the score graphs at the end. The 2nd tier cutoff can't jump like it does for token events, because people aren't hoarding the real event point scoring chances; it has to be be more evenly spread out. Now, because the MedleyFest songs cost less LP, the scores on average are just higher than ScoreMatch, but the rate at which the scores increase at the end are about the same.

Yeah, I'm realizing this now. I consistently spend on the event bonus because I don't always catch the bar right when it maxes, and I also occasionally buy the score bonus to ensure a B score if it's a songset I'm weak on with my Pure team (which is weaker and has tons of healers and not enough Perfect Lock). I Really need this Maki for the Pure team boost (plus I have only 1 Maki card).

Wow great job on getting that FC i never managed to do that. From what i know Maki events are the most popular back when i was really playing this game a lot. I don't know where Honoka is on that list but i was expecting hers to be pretty popular since she is the main girl.

Thats what i thought too, and like its a really cute design. Vampire/gothic-y kind of card SR so its pretty nice lookin :s

I have played this game for almost 2 years and i have yet to pay up so you can really play this game without paying. Although waiting for 50 stones can take long.

Meanwhile I got an UR on my very first single pull ;)

I don't know what it takes to be 'competitive' in this game, I just play when I have a free moment and I'm enjoying this game well enough.

I've mainly been saving my gems for 50 pulls. I'd rather wait till I have more S/URs and more LP before I start trying to spend gems on tiering. Right now I'm doing almost nothing but medley festival rounds so I can get the SR Maki. I'm pretty certain I'm on track to getting her at the pace I'm going at, unlike the last event where I was 80% of the way there and the Nozomi event where I was nowhere close (no S/URs, and I started halfway through the event. I still managed to get driven crazy by Junai Lens though, lol).

How many points per day are you getting? By my math, you'd need to get about 2778 points each day to just barely squeak in. If you're doing better than that, you'll be fine.

Honoka is pretty much bottom tier on both JP and EN. Maki is fairly popular on both sides (though I think more so on EN side, but I'd have to look at my numbers). Kotori is stupid popular in JP; 2nd tiering is always going to be a little bit of a fight when it's a birdie event.

Red and Blue Nico siblings here. Otherwise just a bunch of garbage. I haven't gotten a scout ticket in either JP or EN come to think of it.

I missed 1 or 2 play opportunities overnight this evening (despite working nights, I need to start doong the pause trick). The math says that Im a tad behind schedule (by about 375 points) so I'm definitely not worried yet.

I've gotten like three green Nico siblings and one blue. My lone Gold reward was just a Rare Smile Nico (admittedly it was one I needed to idolize, however). Not sure who to use the skill-up cards on, however.

You're a much better person than i am :D

;A;
i just wanted the rare nozos and Hanayos ok

It's all about that will POWER :p Nah I have so many games to play i usually treat this game as a time waste in my downtime. Although i had to wake up early a bit when i started to use all the LP. Just thinking about how to get UR at 1% is such a small chance i rather not invest money at such a low return rate /economy :p

Meanwhile I got an UR on my very first single pull ;)

Yeah the funny part is when you care about a game you get the shit stuff and when you just want to try something out you get all to good stuff. I got all the Atelier cards in chain chronicles on my first draws which are all the rarest to get during an timed event draw. Sadly i lost that account :( and stopped playing because of my broken heart.

Yeah from what i see on twitter pass by is that Kotori is usually very popular in JP during votes. But in the west she hangs in bottom tier from what i have seen.

Seeing she has one of the most grating voices in existence, I'm not surprised. I honestly don't have a single Kotori on my team no matter how good she may be because her voice drives me nuts. If I want to listen to annoying, high pitched screams that get in the way of the action, I'll watch some Japanese porn instead.

I've gotten an Honor Scouting coupon, two of Nico's sisters (smile and pure, I think), and an Umi (that I already had, so hello special practice). I've also gotten four or five alpacas.

So with my passing interest in the game, I'm curious if I should bother with any of the anime. Or is it exactly how I fear it'll be (super moe slice of life with a high bent on pitching it's merchandise)

The anime is pretty fun, dancing CGI is awkward but for the rest it's a nice guilty pleasure. It's has a bunch of slice of life moments but that's kinda what you should be expecting, I mean if you like the story/characters in the game you'll probably enjoy it in the show as well.

The show is super selfcontained though, It never really felt like i was being advertised to.

Personally it was way better than I expected, why not give it a go yourself. Having played the game before watching the show also worked out pretty well as I was more invested in the characters.

Edit: It's more of a sports anime that happens to be about cute girls dancing, first episodes are the standard introduction episodes where everyone get's an arc. Afterwards there are also some general Slice of Life episodes but there's always a big focus on their idol career.

It's fun. As mentioned, it doesn't feel at all like it's trying to sell anything except maybe its music. Funny character interactions, coming to together AS A TEAM to win THE BIG GAME, and most that go through to the end have tears in their eyes at the conclusion. I only gave it a passing glance when it first came out, but after the game hooked me I figured I should give the anime at least as much time as I was giving SIF, and heck, I'm glad I did.

It is super moe, though, no two ways about that.

That is the reason why i love her. The most irritating high pitched voiced is making me laugh all the time. Like she is serious on helium. It's kinda like how everybody hates Janice in friends because of that voice but it always made me laugh seeing all those people all get riled up :p

I agree. And yet, somehow still love Spicaterrible. The music outbalances her voice there for me. =p

Moe can be fine as long as it's not trying to be grossly manipulative... See a lot of early Key series (Looking specifically at you Air!)

I haven't developed any preferences for my characters yet. It's all purely stats... but then again, I only have a bunch of N's, R's and the one UR, and the one UR is nice and well rounded so she's on every team and has a nice enough voice I don't mind her proccing and bringing with her a sea of hearts.

Her voice is way better in Spica Terrible than it is in other songs! Though I have to say Kotori's voice is a guilty pleasure for me. Ucchi herself sings pretty well in her non LL songs though.

Rin should be your favorite. Listen to her sing Snow Halation and fall in love.
Edit: They're all amazing and should all equally be your favorite. Only practical solution

I don't really have any favorite characters too, so it's mostly been down to designs and vocals. After initially raising my eyebrow at Rin-Nyah!!~~, I was really surprised to realize what her actual singing voice is like. She's one of my favorites in terms of singing, and it's NOT what I was expecting at all. Others include Umi, a little Maki, and oddly enough Nozomi. I think Honoka is warming up to me too since I hear her all the time as my sole UR card.

As for the anime itself, I may watch a full episode or two to get a proper feel for it, but from what I saw in clips, it's 100% Cute Girls doing Cute Things. There were a few amusing clips (the one where they all change personalities in particular) but not the sort of thing I find myself normally watching.

yup, I also can't really stand Kotori's voice generally but I really like Spicaterrible (the irony in the song title). @Hachitora holy shit why can't she sing like this normally. who decided to have Kotori sing/speak like she does? T_T

Rin's singing is a really nice listen even if I don't particularly care for her personality type (not that I dislike it).

love Umi's strong vocals like anone ganbare among others. prob my favorite singer

some people think Nozomi's one of the weaker singers. not that great when solo but fine when with the rest of the group for example. at least we have some Nozomi fans out there

don't recall too many comments on the others. should also be noted that Eli's VA is also singer for fripside who did OP for To Aru Kagaku no Railgun

Yeah, I bought Apple Mint and actually do like it a lot. I've generally been doing a bad job tracking the solo work though, despite following almost all of the VAs on Twitter.

I think on one of the 5th live days she actually broke out of it during the self introductions. I kind of did a doubletake. (Actually, I think both her and Tokui Sora did...)

Yeaaaah, I need to keep an eye out for cheap fripSide CDs or something when I'm over there in two weeks. Hadn't caved on them yet, and don't really wanna buy on iTunes. If we weren't headed over to Kyoto on the 31st, I was reaaaaally close to trying to get tickets to their 2015-16 countdown event...

edit: BTW! If anyone has any suggestions about what to do/see in either Tokyo or Kyoto... please let me know. I haven't actually planned a damn thing for this trip other than where I'm staying. =p

As I'm a babby and have no job yet, I haven't been able to buy any of the albums, but I've listened to rippi-rippi by Riho Iida(best one, everyone listen to it), Emusic by Nitta Emi, and Jewel Vox by Pile. Dream Trigger single by Pile is also good stuff, love that song.

She didn't even make it one sentence into her intro on day 1.

Now more surprising is Ucchi's narration voice.

I suppose it also saves you the temptation to try to follow Nanjolno from NHK Hall (Kouhaku) to Kanagawa Kenmin Hall (fripside). :p
