LTTP : Final fantasy VII remake intergrade on ps5 pro

When I had my PS1, oddly I skipped FF7, maybe due to the number of CD-ROMs that was quite impressive for me in 1998.
Anyway 26 years later, I finally decided to play my first ever final fantasy game.
As an owner of a ps5 pro (straight jump from PS4 pro), I bought FFVIi remake intergrade at a discount (something like €18) no ne big risk involved.
I'm currently at chapter 11 but I think I can give some feedback.

First, it's quite satisfying to play a game so famous and know what all the deal was about. I had no clue about the universe.
Gfx / performance: I decided to play on performance mode. Haven't seen in the menu a pro mode (does it exists ?). Looks like I'm playing at 60 FPS. Feels responsive. Gfx are quite impressive on my new 75c89b miniled from TCL. Very clean image (for me). Not used at all to play at something higher than 1080p.
Art : I like a lot the art in this game. Character design is typically Japanese. I was very impressed by the sense of life in the quarter.
Story : a bit cheesy from time to time but very hearty and entertaining. So I have a very good time following it.
Boss : my god, the human bosses are so so stylish. I love them. The diversity in bosses is very good. Not so much on basic creatures but that's ok.
Production values : through the roof and lots of good finds. Very diversified missions and gameplay.
Combat : it took me quite a while to get used to ATB system but now I'm a bit better at it. At least I don't spam mindlessly the buttons. Transcendance triggers a super animation. Summons are cool too with mind-blowing attacks when they're disappearing.

All in all up to now, I'm having a very very good time with this game. Definitely worth my time and money. I recommend it.

Remake was a very solid game overall. Take out the side quests which rival XVI for how mundane and generic they were, and remove about 5-10 hours of needless padding through re-visiting certain locations and stretching out parts that didn't need it, and the game would have been an easy 9/10 for me.

Instead of being a 30-40 hour game, a 20-30 hour one would have sufficed for that part of the trilogy.

FF7 Remake is amazing and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is even better.

If you haven't played Rebirth, you're in for fucking a treat (especially on the Pro).

I think they're better than the originals, I know that's controversial....but I don't give a shit that's how I feel.

Can't wait for the 3rd one.

Are you able to compare the visuals from base ps5 to ps5 pro for this game’s performance mode? I want to see if there are any improvements

Aside from the bland side content it's a great game. Probably has my favorite combat in the entire FF franchise. And it still looks and plays really well on PS5.

Still need to pick up Rebirth though. The horrible performance mode deflated my excitement at launch but I might pick it up during black Friday if there is a good deal on it. Was hoping they'd eventually fix it, but I guess the pro version is essentially their fix so I don't think the base PS5 version will get any relevant updates anymore.

Good time to get into it, after you complete Remake and Rebirth they will probably be just about ready to announce and reveal the final game of the trilogy

Thanks all for your comments.
1) I'm not able to compare ps5 vs ps5 pro as I only have a ps5 pro. Did not see any options for a specific pro mode also.
2) obviously rebirth is on my radar but I'll wait a little between the two and I want to get it as a discount.
Frankly surprise by the amount of love Devs have put into remake. You can almost touch it.

Having played the original not long after it came out, it's interesting to hear your thoughts on FFVIIR as someone who is starting with the remake. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying it! If you're into reading novels I recommend the most recent novel by FFVII's script writer Kazushige Nojima: Traces of Two Pasts. It's not crucial to the overall story, but it's a great read about Tifa's and Aerith's pasts.

Finished my 2nd playthrough on Pro yesterday (1st was on PS4). Just grabbed the Rebirth BF deal, besides a few fights after Kalm in the demo I'm going in blind.
FF7 is my favorite game ever, but the Remake dragged a bit too long in my 1st run, was happy when the game ended, the 2nd one was more fun, maybe because 60fps, HDR and faster loading times.
Can't wait to start Rebirth finally on
the Pro.

Progressing, I'm at chapter 15. But god, this boss here is giving me trouble. 3rd time I die, after a very long combat. In one move, while digging/ turning, this machine maneges to swipe my entire team in one go. Argh. If anyone has a tip ?
Anyway so far so good but what a LONG game !

You might want to watch a quick recap video of the original VII after you finish Remake, to fill in some of the blanks you'll miss out on from not playing the original. Either that or an ending explanation video of Remake.

Enjoy! Also there is no pro mode for Remake, instead the recommendation is to play in performance mode, which uses dynamic resolution scaling and should take advantage of the Pro's extra power to keep the resolution high and the frame rate at a locked 60fps.

Haven't played. Looking to pick it up on PC if it hits a deep sale--it's still $70 on Steam!

Also, Rebirth apparently doesn't have a PC release date? Disappointing.

Is there anything anywhere that mentions what the ceiling is on this? The DF video just mentions the floor. I fired remake up on my pro for a few hours last night and the performance mode looked pinsharp for the entire time. Not quite as sharp as my 140% forced resolution pc version (5376x2240) but pretty sharp.

It was my understanding that ceiling was 4K and the floor was 1512p. I believe they don't mention the ceiling because it's implied to be 4K, but that's just a guess.

I played it in performance mode on the Pro last night and like you said, it looks pristine.

Is it the flying one? Make sure you're using assess to find weaknesses, every enemy is designed with specific strategies in mind and if you just try to plow through it it'll be much harder. I think people first learn their lesson with the hellhouse in hard mode.

now go play Rebirth!

Do It GIF

however the game is humongous so you better take some time for it.

I'm at chapter 18, at the end of the highway. Managed my way through all the bosses up to now. It was not easy but I learned to be a bit better and more strategic with my materia and habilities.
The real pain was beating the guy with the dog and having NO FUCKING BREAK right to the next boss so that I could not rearrange my materias with the new team. It took me ages to beat this second chained-boss.

Globally this game is really huge. Much bigger than expected. It's so over the top, I love it. So much love poured in it. Japanese craft ❤️.
I don't know what's next for this last chapter but up to now, the ride has been very diversified, entertaining and exciting. Could not imagine I would be so pleased playing for the first time a final fantasy at 50 yo 😀.

That's awesome to hear. After you play the 7 games do check out the older ones as well, X and XII are great for newcomers if you're fine with PS2 games.

Heck you might even like XV.

you can change equipment and magic whenever your party changes by holding square during the cutscene

I really enjoyed the small linear nature of ff7 remake ended up liking it more because of that. Rebirth was still great though.

Can someone give me a tip on how I beat S******* at the end ? I don't have all materia.
I checked on millenium, it gave me some tips but I have my ass beaten badly.
For the first round, I manage : I escape, run around, and spell some fire spells. I slowly kill him.
But after that, this boss is hunting me and I don't manage to avoid it's strike. I'm stuck. Little help would be nice, as I want to finish this Long game.

Steadfast block, regen, barrier. Don’t blow your limit breaks on a cutscene transition.

Make sure you don't just mash, use the counter ability on cloud as much as possible to pressure him, the boss always targets the character you're controlling so make sure you swap off before healing. Learn his tells before he does his various moves. Basically the entire fight is a skill check and you can't just faceroll it, you actually have to get a little good. Make sure you aren't just spamming the dodge roll button as blocking e.g. blizzaga is much better than tanking it trying to roll away. The fight really isn't too bad as long as you take your time and aren't just trying to mash your way through.

1. Fully utilize punisher counter

2. Take your time

3. Switch characters VERY FREQUENTLY to draw his aggro, he switches targets fast

if you pay attention he isn't as hard as he seems, imo the whisper boss was much harder

Thanks all for your good advices. I applied them all and was able to beat S*** with only one attempt. Finished the game by the way.

Globally, I enjoyed it a lot. The lore was good (first time playing a final fantasy game). Production value through the roof. Interesting story, good characters, except Barret, too stereotypal for me. Glx and performance was excellent. Animations, especially the last from the summons are excellent.
Globally, I score it highly, at 9/10. Very very good game. I might buy rebirth when sufficiently discounted.

You'll come to understand his character a lot more in Rebirth as his story isn't touched upon in part 1.

This thread has made me want to buy Rebirth now I have a PS5 Pro.

The one before was good just dragged out too long but I enjoyed it on my PS4 Pro.

While the Remakes are good games (albeit wayyy too much padding), the story and dialogue are so much worse than the original, sadly, which is one of gamings true masterpieces.
