Agree with all of this. Every single bit. Azkaban was the perfect HP film, everything tanked from there then slightly went up at the end.

The final showdown was really neat.

Can't really remember the rest of the film too well. I do think they did a good job in cutting out a lot of the fat in the book, but they cut out a bit too much iirc.

That's the trouble with doing a good job, it just raises the bar.

Worst book, worst film.

This is about where J.K. Rowling just starts to take the series way too goddamn seriously and makes awful, nonsensical decisions with her characters. Teen Angst Harry vs. Fascist School Marm is maybe the most unlikable pairing of protagonist and antagonist in history. Painful to watch or read. Also the internal logic of the wizarding world just collapses under the weight of her plot contrivances.
