LTTP: Metroid Fusion. It was pretty awesome.

You know how to hype someone.
Thanks. It's not for everyone, obviously, you have to like exploration and mazes, and not mind Game Boy graphics (the game is IMO better in black & white than with artificial colours), and I'm not surprised some people can't get into it. But Metroid II is IMO the most Metroid of all Metroid games.

BTW, I haven't even played that game first. I played Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, Metroid (NES), Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime Echoes, Metroid Zero Mission, and only after that, Metroid II. And it's still my favourite. Having started gaming in the 8-bit days helped, but it still stands today IMO, as long as you don't mind games where you have to orientate yourself.

Progressively getting less scared of the SA-X is the whole point, because samus is becoming more powerful. thats why she collects powerups.
Its weird that you got disappointed by that.

It's linearity puts it a little below Super Metroid for me, but it's level design, combat, and platforming are all super great and it's still an amazing game. SA-X is a super cool concept too and they executed it really well.

Metroid 2 was the first of the series that I played and I loved it.

I actually liked Metroid II. It was a fine Game Boy game for its day and there was nothing else like it on a handheld at release. Conceptually, it was pretty cool (I liked the idea of exterminating every Metroid), and I would like to see a remake of the game. It was a little more streamlined and less open than the original Metroid. But I have played through the game from start to finish on more than a couple occasions, and I don't see anything particularly wrong with it.

As for Metroid Fusion, the game is decent, but I would rank it much lower then Super Metroid and Metroid Zero Mission. The pacing always felt off to me, and there is is too much needless exposition that breaks up the gameplay.

I bought my gb micro and fusion at the same time, also it looked beautiful on the micro screen. SA-X was indeed "scary" in a sense where whenever it popped up I had the urge to escape as fast as possible.

Very fluid and my favorite 2D Metroid game
