I don't remember if I've watched this movie to completion before, but decided to watch it recently and it was rather good. The 'tech' they used for the Predator's stealth visuals don't feel like they aged well and I can't help but feel like the actor playing the Predator seemed to have a hard time moving around in the suit.

Non the less it's still a really good action movie, though I liked the first half more, up til their attack on the gurrelia camp.

One thing that bugged me by the end of the movie:
Why couldn't the Predator see Dutch when he is covered in mud? Didn't it use some kind of heat seeking vision?

Oh and I take it the Predator's face is intended to resemble insects?

You're ghostin' us, motherfucker. I don't care who you are back in the world, you give away our position one more time, I'll bleed ya, real quiet. Leave ya here. Got that?

Even Predator 3 wasn't bad. I thought the premise of dropping humans and other aliens on a hunting reserve was awesome as hell. It also had a yakuza fight a predator with a katana. Weakest of the three, sure, but still a faaaaaaar cry from the AVP movies and the later Alien sequels for that matter too. Give me Predator 3 over Prometheus any day.

Cooliest villian in a movie.

Anytime.

I still prefer the Xenomorphs a little more but the Predators have swag.

The thing that is difficult about making a sequel to Predator is that the film & it's narrative arc are self contained. When you make a sequel to Predator you are essentially just retelling or remaking a different version of the first film. No matter what you do the process is fomulaic(real word?) but without thw satisfying payoff of the unknown that comes from watching the first film for the first time.

Predator 2, and Predators are both underrated. They don't top the original, but both are worthy sequels.

I don't know. Predators is pretty dreadful. Casting is shit and pacing is brutal. When Morpheus shows up the movie grinds to a fucking halt.

And I guess maybe in the end that's why AVP is so so disappointing. It was really such a golden opportunity to give both of those movies a new exciting lease on life but it was ruined by series' tropes, a bad script, & just all around poor execution.

I don't think we will ever get a good Alien Vs Predator movie.

Unless John McTiernan and Ridley Scott team up :P

They could retell the same story, but some imagination would go a long way in this case. Tons of facets of Yautja life and culture have been unexplored on film. Their home planet, their civilization. Other creatures they hunt beyond humans and xenomorphs. Predator 2 mixed things up nicely with the 'urban jungle' setting. The scene at the end where Danny Glover infiltrates their ship was also great and conveyed a sense of the unknown. Predator 3 was far more derivative, going right down to the same setting and even borrowing parts of the soundtrack, but it still introduced some new things like predator hunting dogs and warring factions in addition to having a group of protagonists that wasn't a team from the get-go.
