Not a fan of the hook, although it's pretty clever.

The whole album is full of shit like this. The double entendres and depth to this dude's lyrics is astounding.

This is a Lupe Album with better beats and slightly less preachy lyrics.

That means some songs are super Lupe Lyrical but lack the replay value after the whole luster of "whoa he is spitting" wears off. Some songs overstay their welcome and in general the whole album could use some clean up. Basically, if you stopped liking Lupe because of the above..then this will not change your mind. If it was JUST the beats? Then give it a shot. If you never ever liked Lupe...then why are you here lol.

It has more highs than Lasers and it isn't musical NyQuil like F&L2 was most of the time...It also IMO doesn't reach the highs of his fist two which is kinda impossible since that era of music is gone and standards have changed (at least for me) and just doing The Cool again but better probably wouldn't be enough. A friend of my said this "If you brought this album back to a younger you RIGHT after you listened to The Cool, you'd probably think it's the best thing ever whereas now you are more critical of it". That sound about right.

If you like it, it doesn't mean you are stuck in HS or any of that lame shit but you have to have liked "some" songs from his last two...T&Y is basically that...the better songs off his last two with better beats and better subject matter with impressive lyricism that may or may not get old fast...

Your mileage may vary.

album is mediocre. people talking "oh he's back on his lyrics, album is dope". nah, not really. mural is great. lupe is a fantastic rapper in that sense and that track shows it, plus the cortex sample hasn't gotten old yet. thing is old lupe wasn't just great lyrics, but more so just good and interesting song writing. this album doesn't have that. definitely his best thing since the cool or that cassette mixtape that came out right after that.

5/10 off first listen.

Chopper is really the shining star of this album. Everyone goes in and that beat is nuts. I didn't even notice its 8 mins.

Enjoyed this from start to finish. First Lupe album I can say that about since The Cool. Damn near everything on Lasers except the bonus tracks and All Black Everything were bullshit and F&L2 had bunk like Heart Donor on it. Anticipating that Skulls album or whatever it is that's supposed to be all Soundtrakk production. Should be FIRE.

Lupe is back? I had absolutely no hope for this, and F&L and The Cool are two of my favorite albums ever... I still don't believe it.

Listened back to Lasers and F&L2 and boy do they suck. As someone who fell off of Lupe when it seemed everyone else did but loved his first two albums I would say this is definitely a return to form. As I said earlier it may even be his most consistent and cohesive album yet.

If you didn't like early Lupe you may not like this but If you did It will almost certainly be seen as a return to form. If I had to rate the album on the number of songs I like on it, excluding the intermissions. I would say it's a solid 9/12.

Highs for me include Dots & Lines, Body of Work, Chopper, and They Resurrect Over New. What really stands out overall though is the production and Lupe isn't preachy enough to get annoying.

This is coming from someone who also enjoys stuff like Cunninlynguists, Jay Elec, Mos, Ye, and ASAP Rocky, to name a few. Just to give you a taste of where I'm coming from.

Also this album makes me miss CRS, sad we never got an album.

Yeah, I've listened to Chopper at least 5 times. It's my favorite song off of the album.

The song is so grimy, props to Lupe for getting features that are able to enhance that feeling. Also lol that Lupe made one of the best trap songs I've heard.

Ooooooo I havent listened to an Album since The Cool so I'm sure I'll enjoy this based on comments.

O and that pray scheme that was posted was just stupidly good lol

Going in super blind but expecting a return to form.
At least enough to wash the tests of FnL2 out of my mouth and truly confirm that the "album-that-shall-not-be-named" never really existed...

Went in with really low expectations, Tetsuo & Youth is definitely better than LASERS and far more refreshing than Food & Liquor 2. Can't say it stands out as much as The Cool but only time will tell with that one. I had zero interest in this album after listening to Old School Love and Next to it as I felt that Lupe had no idea what he was doing at this point in his career. Do you want to follow the current rap trends? You want to go full-blown RnB Pop? I was so confused at those singles. But my intrigue returned after hearing Deliver and the fact that it was featured on the album made me want to listen to it.

Lupe doesn't seem to be as attention seeking with his word choice this time round and the production is really nice (apart from the tiny gripe of using that meh Apple garage band sample in prisoner 1 & 2 that instantly reminded me of Fort Minor). It is a long album but it isn't an annoyingly dragging album. Makes for great background music. I'm actually surprised Atlantic let him release a long album with no pop lead single. And I know it isn't up to me to say but Mural should've been at the end of the album. Perhaps he put it in the beginning to make a point? I dunno

I'm not sure what to make of the album, it is definitely better than both Lasers and F&L II. But putting Mural so early was a mistake, it is miles ahead of anything else on the album so everything that comes after (which is pretty much everything) is a disappointment in comparison.

Albums just... ok nothing special, it can be really boring to get through parts of it and but there are some tracks which are pretty good, it's better than his past two releases but nothing close to his first two albums, but I gave up hope on Lupe ever returning to form a long time ago. A lot of times it just feels like he's just needlessly trying to make his lyrics complex because he thinks that's where his main appeal lies and it's what the fans really want but a lot of it is just being obscure for the sake of it and not really saying much of substance and there are tracks that are just boring musically and I'm probably never gonna revisit them.

I was obsessed with Food & Liquor and The Cool in college, but I didn't like Lazers at all. I still listen to those first two.

Cautiously optimistic.

Been listening to it and so far it's decent. Definitely better than his last two albums (not that that was hard to achieve) but still not even close to The Cool or F&L. Not hearing the return of form that others have mentioned (not that I expected it anyway).

I got up to Prisoner on the way to work today. It's pretty good so far, not really feeling blur my hands. Mural was sick. Hoping the rest is as good as some of you are making out to be. I've been a Lupe fan since F&L but Lasers was bad and F&L2 was forgettable.

He still did some of his best work during those years though. If you haven't heard them, check out Enemy of the State and Friend of the People. Two of my favorite mix tapes. "Shining Down" and SLR 1,2, and 3, are a few great tracks too.

Chopper. Yikes. Song is flames. So grimy.

Was playing the album on my way to work and I'm liking every song. This album is made for you if you were ever a Lupe fan.

I have it on my phone ready to go. I was down on Lupe after Lasers (which honestly wasn't too bad) but F&L2 was pretty good so hopefully this album can at least top that.

Wowsers. His last album sucked dick

Glad hes back to his ''Food and Liquor'' and ''The Cool'' shit.
This alums sounds great. Listened to half of it now and I'm about to pick it up in a few.

I stopped listening to Lupe after Lasers but I'm really liking this one. Though I'm not sure how people can say like "This is Lupe again" and that, I don't think this is really all that much like Cool or F&L (which I fucking loved). Doesn't mean I don't dig this, but it is different still.

Only listened to it once, but so far I'm not a fan of it. The beats seems too busy and his flow doesn't always fit with them.
