Okay, I have just tried downloading this on my dads iMac and it stopped at the same place as it did when trying on my MacBook at 53.25mb.
Both Safari and Firefox now beat Chrome on my new (BLAZINGLY FAST OMG) retina MBP hands down - let's see what happens when the retina-fixed Chrome gets out of beta. I'd be willing to give Safari a shot, but I really really want the Opera "fast-forward" navigation feature (press space at end of page to automatically follow next page links). There are extensions that provide that functionality and more for both FF and Chrome, but I haven't found anything for Safari.
ML itself installed quickly, seems to work just fine and feels nicely snappy. I had a bit of pain with iPhoto, which refused to start at all even when directed to create a new library. I did just about every magic trick short of waving a dead goat over the keyboard and I'm not really sure what finally fixed it, but after another reboot it finally worked again.
It's been about 5 hours for my girlfriend and 4 hours for me, and neither of us have gotten them yet.
do the bookmark toolbar dissapears for you in firefox when in full screenmode?
use ReederDid they really remove RSS support from Safari? Who came up with this idea?!
What's this about Apps having to be signed for Mountain Lion or something?
I downloaded an App off the internet and my Mac pops up something about it not being signed so it can't start. Turns out you can Ctrl+Open or change in Settings, but it's a weird thing to have on by default.
Getting flashbacks of UAC.
Maybe try turning Hotspot Shield off after it passes the 53.25 mb mark?In case anyone was reading my posts before, I googled the problem and it turns out other people have had the exact same problem where the download stops at 53.25mb and to solve it you need to download something called hotspot shield, this has fixed the problem and it is now downloading, albeit rather slow lol
Yes! But to make sure I don't hit any hiccups I deleted my ~/library/Dock folder or wherever it is. There's a database that holds the LP icon positions. Delete it before installing if you want to make sure. But it should be fine once you put everything back.Does Launchpad finally remember the order of icons in Mountain Lion? This is easily the most frustrating thing for me.
Yeah, it does. I don't use the bookmark bar though, so fortunately that's not a problem for me.
I've got a mid-2008 MBP with Snow Leopard - is it worth me upgrading? Performance-wise, at least.
I've paid no attention to ML's development, and chose to skip to Lion after I read about some changes that I wasn't particularly keen on (although I can't for the life of me remember why), so I'm not really up to speed with it. Are there currently any notable bugs or incompatibilities with popular applications?
Ta, etc.
From my experience performance has noticeably improved over Lion.Mid-2010 Macbook Pro here. Upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion and it felt like performance over all dipped a fair bit. The new features are alright but I'm more interested in knowing if performance will run a bit better, because that would be worth the upgrade to me.

Runs amazing on my Mid-2010 Pro:
Definitely improved from Lion. Feels snappier and there's less animation lag on things like the dock, launchpad etc.

but no Airplay for us which is complete bullshit, Apple trying to seriously force people to throw away 2 year old macbook pros for locked out features? I eagerly await the hack
This may be the wrong thread for it, but does a Mac to Mac Airplay exist? It would be nice to be able to stream music/video from my MBP to the desktop Mac I use at school, or something (although I feel like this may be a very specific/uncommon use case).
Approaching 8 hours of waiting, and still no Up To Date code.![]()
Hmmm, I'm getting a MBPr tomorrow but I still think I'm going to have to hold off on upgrading to Mountain Lion because Pro Tools won't be compatible.
Anyone know how long the free upgrade offer lasts?

airplay has to be done over local wifi. are you wanting to do remote desktop, or just stream music/video files that are on your home computer?
If you bought a new mac and have an old one, will you be able to get the update for free on other computers?
Streaming music/video files primarily, but if there's a viable option for remote desktop that would be great as well. And wifi wouldn't be an issue where I would be using this.

i believe he means over the internet, not on the same wifi/ethernet network. can you even add other macs to finder over the internet? i wasn't aware, but that's pretty cool! All of that stuff is built into OSX.. just browse over to your other computer in Finder (assuming they are all Macs)
i wouldn't recommend remote desktop for just watching videos/audio though. i don't use remote desktop software often, but i would assume it compresses the video and audio streams far more than just directly streaming an audio/video file. there are a bunch of applications out there to set up your mac for streaming files over the internet, and there are remote desktop applications too. just google and you'll find one you're looking for. if you just want a file streamer, search for mac media server applications.
It works, just not with iOS devices yet (unless you're running the beta)Mountain Lion safari is great. I take it the iCloud tabs thing won't work until iOS 6?
you can already do it with airparrot on lion.

you mean stream your itunes library to an apple tv? you can already do this.I've heard bad things about it, and airplay has a feature where you can stream music only which I would love/need
