I remember I had a 'dream' of making a live-action film of this one day.
It would've likely been terrible :lol
I had this on VHS and would watch it over and over again, the opening is unforgettable.
It's the only anime that I can't watch subtitled, the dub is engrained in my brain at this stage.
I too thought vocaloids becoming a real thing was weird as hell!

OVA, but there is some additional footage in the movie and arguably a more satisfying ending

I have the terrible Dutch subbed DVD release. It was one of the releases with double-sided discs. I should upgrade to the cheap official Italian region B Blu-ray release of Macross Plus one of these days, but it doesn't have English subs.

Would love an affordable English subbed release, but doesn't Anchor Bay still own the rights to Macross Plus in several countries such as the US and UK? They've more or less stepped out of the anime business and haven't shown any interest in anime except for a few releases like Ghost in the Shell, so that's maybe why they haven't released Macross Plus on Blu-ray.
