Mad Max: Fury Road "Black & Chrome" Edition - Releasing December 6th

Can someone describe the point of the B&WC edition? Is it a gimmick or is there a reason it's a thing?

In many ways Fury Road is a love letter to silent films, Buster Keaton's in particular. Miller and his wife put this version together while editing the theatrical version.

I totally expected the collection to not include the Black and Chrome edition, but it sounds like it does?

So. Fucking. Bought.

Yeah, it looks like it's laid out like this:

On Blu-ray:
-Mad Max
-The Road Warrior
-Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome
-Mad Max: Fury Road
-Mad Max: Fury Road (Black & Chrome)
Plus special features where they apply

On UHD:
-Mad Max: Fury Road

And then a digital copy of Mad Max: Fury Road to round out the whole package.

Lame that black and chrome was cut out of the original. I had to pirate that fan made one before to watch it the intended way. Will be buying it again it seems... sigh

Also the black and white ver. of The Mist was awesome too.
Check it out if you haven't already:

Nice for the fans but the 3d version is the definitive release for me. I can't watch Fury Road any other way.

For those curious there's been some chatter on the next Mad Max films from John Seale, DP on the film, and Mark Sexton, storyboard artist, where a Furiosa script is now done, originally set as a anime prequel in 2009. They're almost done on a Max centered script that's a prequel to Fury Road tentatively titled "The Wasteland" and is said to be more bleaker.

Mmh, I wonder why they would make The Wasteland a prequel. Max was a mess at the beginning of Fury Road :/

I think the wasteland will be quite different much like the trilogy was in its individual films and it might annoy some fans of fury road.

So excited for it tho. Let the god get back to work.

These two have been rumored for like over a year now, though, haven't they? Or is this more "these two scripts are still kicking around"?

Well, whatever people want to see and to each their own, I guess. But every shot/scene I've seen of this, I just kept thinking how the colored version looked better.

We haven't seen how the B&W version looks yet. There is color grading involved even in B&W, if I'm understanding correctly.

That High Octane release... Jesus. What an amazing deal.

That and the rumored rift between Miller and WB. If this set is now coming and the talk of those 2 Mad Max scripts......

No way. Is there anywhere I can read about this? I hope that we get the other 2 MM films.

Interesting. I don't think I'd ever watch the black and white version over the normal version anyway. The color adds so much beauty to the film.

Not sure what's so amazing about this black and chrome edition. The film had some amazing use of colours, especially during the night-time sequence, and even otherwise. Very vibrant movie. I wouldn't want to have it any other way. Might check it out because I'm curious.

I am interested in how well the movie will transition to that style. Even if the B&W does not work for me, everything else in the High Octane version looks fantastic.

Yeah the same stuff but they've cropped up again recently where a month ago Mark was on a podcast and confirmed the Furiosa script was finished and was quite an epic yarn spanning many years. John Seale talked about this project too and I believe they took the anime script for Furiosa's prequel and have as such expanded and adapted it to be a full live action picture after the success of Fury Road and Furiosa's popularity.

Mark also spoke about "The Wasteland" how it still needed more work but it was also incredibly bleak and focused on Max.

It's a lot of insider stuff from people who worked on the movie or with/for KMM. It's basically a money and budget issue.

I'm likely getting the box set but I wish it came like this...

Some guy made a fan version of the B&C edition and posted it on Vimeo, and it looked really amazing. I'm definitely keen on seeing the official version from Miller.

I'm so glad I didn't buy the movie yet on BR, this is the best opportunity.
