You were posting while watching though.
Sorry if I thought gaf would appreciate some comments during the down time 😞
There was downtime in this movie? Who knew
Didn't post one thing after the first canyon run.
We had someone using their phone in the same row as us when I last went to see it. It was really annoying seeing the light in my peripheral vision. Please don't be that guy.
If it's not Hardy, then it's Max who's boring. There is nothing outstanding or remarkable about him in this movie. Don't know about other films, never saw them.Max was pretty memorable to me. Reminded me of how Max has been in all the movies. I do think Hardy at times was a little uneven in his diction. Sometimes he sounded a lot like Mel Gibson and other times he channeled some Bane. But as for his on screen presence, he pretty much nailed Max.
None of that seems crucial. Nux could've fed on any other prisoner with a universal blood type. Furiosa could've killed the BF by setting up a trap or using a sniper rifle, or in a gunfight. And she could've changed her mind since she knew the lair was unguarded. Not sure how you can disagree on that. Without Max, Nux probably isn't involved in the chase to begin with. And without Max, Furiosa doesn't elude the Bullet Farmer. And without Max, the whole ending would change.
As for his importance to the plot, I disagree, but let's leave it at that.

Anything could've happened. It all depends on the script. It's not worth discussing.
Think I should stop. You guys clearly liked the movie and I don't wanna spoil the thread by whining too much.

So, like every other Mad Max movie before it?They shouldn't have made the guy the movie was named after such a forgettable character.
Why there is a black and white version?
Why there is a black and white version?
Why there is a black and white version?
Why not?
Just wondering why Miller decided to make one. Can't be that common nowadays.
Bluray Chrome version
I hope the blu-ray collector's set comes with a doof warrior figurine and tiny chrome spray bottle.
In Europe there's a version coming with a model replica of the Interceptor!
Oooh that's awesome!
I'm continuing to love all the reactions people are sharing. This really is a movie with near universal appeal. There's a fundamental, strong emotional core with the story of the two characters. They learn to work together. They help one another. The film's setting is bleak and hopeless, but the film is incredibly inspiring.
Can't wait to hopefully get the second viewing on Friday. It's felt like ages since I saw this!

I lol'ed.
"I had a baby brother. I had a little baby brother. And he was perfect, perfect in every way!"
I think the quote at the end of the movie was a mistake. Both times I saw it, it just made for an uncomfortable silence, and then the music and credits come in, but by then, the impact of the strong finish was lost.
It's not as if the words there impart such a powerful message.
So are we just assuming the B&W version will be in the BR, or what?

FURY ROAD editor Margaret Sixel spent 2yrs cutting 450hrs of footage. She's also married to mastermind George Miller.
miller made a film both very simple but also quite thematically rich too. not to mention it's also hands down the best looking action film i've seen in so many years.
i didn't expect a film in the 2000s to stand alongside the terminators, die hard, raiders, matrix etc. but this certainly did it.
one of those very rare blockbusters where i leave the theater and days later don't really have any nitpicks or problems with it.
Yeah here's a link, not actual images but details it's a Steelbook release and all that:
