Mad Max: Fury Road |OT| What a Lovely Day | RT: 98% | Metacritic: 89

Second viewing was great. Noticed a ton of stuff I missed on the first watch. Action scenes still got my adrenaline flowing and the feels were in full flow. The scene when they get back to the citadel and Max holds a battered Furiosa up...got me good. I feel so drained. What a fucking movie.

There is one thing I will always hate with this film though. Never being able to experience it for the first time again.

Yessss

I still remember how my mind was completely blown at my first viewing q.q

Subsequent viewings had been awesome but omg that first time when fury road hit me and I had gone in with zero knowledge of what the movie was going to be.... I was losing my mind and had gone to Valhalla!!!!

Was looking to just watch any movie today to kill time. Pitch Perfect 2 and Tomorrowland only have 3 more showings for the day. San Andreas and Spy have like 6 shows. Meanwhile Mad Max has 10 shows today.

PP2 and Tomorrowland aren't at good times for me and I don't want to watch the rest, so I guess it's Mad Max for a 4th time.

On topic: I really wish Mel hadn't gone cuckoo as having him cameo in the film at all or be involved in some way would be fun.

I wish he hadn't gone cuckoo, so we could get more straight up movies from the guy, who's talented both as a director, as well as a leading man.

Can't think of many other directors who could've done something like Apocalypto.
A big budget adventure/action movie, with a (non-white) main lead who nobody had ever seen, and all with subtitles.

It's a real shame he let his piece of shit personal self, bleed into his career.

that's why we keep watching it; we want to visit Valhalla once again!

"Once again!"

Where's my muhfuggin BluRay?!

Miller: "Kojima, I shall personally escort you to the doors of Valhalla. Shiny and chrome."
*sprays Kojima's lips silver*

*new Kojima game releases and gets only 8s in reviews.*

Miller: "MEDIOCRE!"

I'm planning a fifth viewing for tomorrow... I don't even go to movies that often, and the last time I saw a movie more than once in the theater was the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Just can't get enough of Fury Road!

I was wondering about the inevitable sequel and what would be the fate of Citadel.
Since Furiosa is the new ruler, will she bring in sunshine, puppies and rainbows to the Citadel or will she become the next Immortan Joe? OR will Miller completely ignore the Citadel and focus on the different part of the world? I think Citadel and Furiosa are too important to ignore. Maybe a bigger threat that wipes out the Citadel?

My guess is the next movie will be about something entirely different, as all the other films have been.

At one point, Miller was saying he had a screenplay completed called "Mad Max: Furiosa," so presumably he had more adventures in mind for Furiosa and Max. Now he's saying the next movie will be titled "Mad Max: The Wasteland" instead, so it's possible Furiosa is no longer involved.

Probably because Theron doesn't want to return.

I actually hope Fury Road will be the last we see of Furiosa. The character, Theron's performance, and the arc was so great, I just feel it should just be left as is.

Furiosa was an anime prequel that they scrapped.

I loved the movie. My friend said, "man I wish there was more story to it. It was just OKAY"... uh... IT'S FUCKING MAD MAX... I slapped him afterwards and then bought him lunch for forgiveness.

Just got back, awesome :) Knew nothing about this new one so was very surprised by the road movie action genre (although the title gave it away in hindsight). 5/5 and the gf loved it too.

I find a strange overlap in people who tell me this film didn't have enough of a story and people who tell me that popcorn movies like Transformers don't need a good story.

Not quite sure why this is.

Actually, I know the reason: it's that Mad Max doesn't have many plot points, while those kind of action movies often have too many plot points. People like when there's lots of moving around because they don't get bored. They feel like things "happened". In Mad Max, the plot is pretty simple. But that doesn't mean the story isn't engaging. That's difference, at least to me.

Finally saw it and was thoroughly disappointed based on the hype. The action was good but kinda one note. And what was up with that Max character? Such a departure from the cool Mel Gibson portrayal. Not a whole lot of emotional beats in this movie as it was obviously meant to be pure action.

What's up with Max? He tells you at the start, he's gone insane.

Plenty of emotional beats too. Sorry you didn't like it dude :(

I've never seen a Mad Max movie before, and didn't really know what to expect of it. Anyways, I watched it yesterday, high as a mofo, and it was...
AAAAAABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I was blown away!

Will watch again next week, but this time sober.

I will say that Mel Gibson could get the crazy in his eyes that Tom Hardy can't match (probably because Mel actually is crazy).

I want Miller to direct a Fist of the North Star adaptation. Go full R and just tear shit up.

Who should play Kenshiro though?

Jake.

When the BD is out, I would like for someone to take one badass screen shot from each camera cut of the movie. There will be 2700 of them, and each screen will have very awesome stuff on it.
