Man, we watched it once and it bored all of us to tears. I couldn't handle the fact that it had no story or dialogue at all.
Wait, are you serious? There is a story and the amount of dialogue in the movie is all that's needed to convey said story. Also, the actions of the characters tell more about them, than lengthy exposition could.

I mean, I get that it's your opinion and all, it's just baffling how someone could seriously be "bored to tears" through a movie like this.

It bored me to tears. I am serious. We were 4 people and nobody enjoyed it (edit: actually, one of us did if I remember correctly). We all expected more plot I think. So no, the amount of dialogue was definitely not all that was needed to entertain me. Seeing cars explode fatigued me like an hour in.

Am I mad for seeing this movie for the 7th time, while I could have gone and seen Tomorrowland or Jurassic World instead?

You made the right choice. Tomorrowland is not a movie you want to watch if this is the alternative.

Can't comment on JW, but my expectations for that aren't exactly very high either.

Yea, alright, different strokes and all that. What I meant about the dialogue was that it was enough to convey the story and flesh out the characters, along with their actions. That it wasn't enough to entertain you and your friends is another matter.

I take it you didn't care for the more subtle stories being told via the world building done by this movie?

Also, I assume you like more chatty/complex action movies then, like Terminator 2?

One of the few continuity errors in the film is that Miss Giddy and the Organic Mechanic completely disappear after a while with no explanation.

It's not really a continuity error, they just don't serve the story anymore. They are probably somewhere else in the war party, but we don't need to know because they no longer serve the story.

(I guess it's a stupid question but) why was Miss Giddy killed?

Also the fate of the Organic Mechanic does remain unresolved.

No idea. I just know her fate was in a cut scene present during test screenings, and you can see some of it in the art book, and then dropped for the final cut. Quite a few scenes involving Immortan and his war parties ended up on the cutting floor.

Another cut scene had Max sticking a ear bud/ear piece in his ear to drown out the voices in his head but the scene just didn't work according to feedback from all the test screenings and as a result was cut...including having to digitally remove the ear piece from the rest of the film but not from promotional materials. lol

God damn I love the War Rig dirt extinguisher scene. So creative. Even after four viewings I want more. Even my wife appreciated it, despite not being into action films. I've never bought a film soundtrack in my life, but I didn't hesitate to buy this one. This movie is that good on almost every aspect.

Fury Road is a masterpiece, undoubtedly one of the best movies I've seen in my 36 years.

So this has GOT to be finally making money right? +315 million world wide... I'd imagine it's pretty close. Any word on possible followups?

If I was a teen now with a shitload of free time, I would'nt mind seeing it 7, hell 10 times.

Even with work I found time to see it thrice.

That sequence and the sandstorm one almost brought a tear to my eye from the sheer beauty of how those scenes are put together, particularly with the music cues in both. Just incredibly well directed action.

Yep same with me. They weren't inherently emotional scenes but I found myself tearing up which is pretty rare. They're both beautiful a scenes and the music cues are incredible. I dont like to say this so soon after release but this movie is an instant masterpiece for me.

Quoting an old post as I read back through the thread, after my first rewatch of the film tonight. This particular sequence hit really hard on my second watch. The music, the clarity with which the entire sequence is shot, the way it's framed with sky-high stakes...it's one of the best action sequences I've ever seen. There are more elaborate and extended pieces in the film, but this particular fight just worked on every level. It's also pivotal to Max and Furiosa's relationship, as they transition from hesitant trust out of raw necessity and into working together as a team. A pretty damn good one.

I fucking love this movie.

What I also like about that sequence is that the War Rig itself basically becomes a character in its own right. It becomes a durable ally that basically refuses to die. I especially like the shot that focuses on the engine breathing for life again after they dump all of the sand on it to extinguish the fire.

Oh good so we can admit to crying.

I did during the escape from the BMX dudes with the Brothers in Arms song going. Goosebumps and then teary eyed and then nerdgasm.

The sandstorm sequence did it to me, when the music swells during the long shots of that truck's airborne demise.

I'm glad we can admit this all together. *sobs* It's just so beautiful, man.

Bill Hader Talks His Mad Love for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD

BILL HADER: I liked Mad Max so much that my wife and I went to go see it, and it started and she said, “This is not my kind of movie,” and then it ended, and she said, “I want to watch that again,” and I said, “Yeah.” And she was like, “No. I want to watch it right now,” and we went out, got back in line, and went and saw it again. And I’ve seen it four times in the theater.

Hah, yea that just about sums it up. This movie completely wins over people who might not think it's their cup of tea.

friend of mine brought his gf to see it, who was not expecting to like it at all and after the movie ended i think he told me she said something along the lines of "i could have watched 2 more hours of that"

I saw this for the third time today, this time in 2D IMAX. oh my god I want the blu ray right fucking now. please

I've never, ever, ever seen a film where every single shot has stunned me like this did. The colours, the action, the pacing...it's all perfect. So many times throughout the film I thought to myself "this is fucking incredible" - such as the bit in the tornado, the climax, the bog scene with the bullet farmer

and the single greatest shot I have EVER seen in cinema - "is that a shot of the desert? Sure looks like some sand dunes. Yeah. Boring....oh wait, OH SHIT IT'S MAD MAX COVERED IN SAND!!!!!!!!!"

Quite simply the most amazing, best paced, most incredible film I have ever seen in my entire fucking life. It's absolute pure cinematic joy condensed into its purest form in every single second of its runtime.

So beautiful indeed. Speaking of bringing tears to eyes. I gotta say that I teared up when
when Nux died.
It's one of the things that pushed this movie to great status for me. Any movie that gives me that level of emotional connection is doing something very well. There was something poignant about it. I never expected to cry with when I went into this movie. Maybe I just got caught up in the moment.

The whole movie's on fire, man. You can feel it from the first frame that this thing is pulsing with some kind of insane energy, then you're hit with the cinematography and editing and music and stunts and pacing and it's like

UUUUUUUUGHHHGHGHGHGHGHGHG WHAT A RUSHHHH

I tried to step back after seeing it twice to let it settle a bit and make sure I'm not losing the big picture here, but the hype just doesn't go away. I only stan for one living filmmaker, but George Miller has my sword forever after this one (not like he didn't before, but y'know). Instant classic.

Absolutely. I wasn't even familiar with him before I saw this movie. I mean, I had seen the Babe movies and loved them, but I payed no attention to the directors. Now that I rewatched Pig in the City recently, I see his signature.

I've booked my fourth viewing for tomorrow

halp

uh, so when is the blu ray likely to come out? I've already preordered the shit out of it on amazon uk

SO jealous of you folks getting to see it in 2D IMAX! Don't think that has even been an option where I live unfortunately, and uf it was, it isn't anymore. Goddamn that sound would be amazing.

Right?! lol.

I read this terrible article called "10 Things We Want in a Fury Road Sequel" on some random website and it was all stuff like: more backstory for all the characters; explain how the apocalypse happened; explain what's going on in North America and Europe; explain what happened to all the characters from the previous movies. Apparently it's possible to like Fury Road while having no understanding of why it worked.

Avengers and San Andreas hogged my local IMAX. It would have been amazing to view it in IMAX. =/

When I read that I immediately closed the article.

A romance between those two would've completely ruined the movie for me.

I would've walked out at the end feeling so pissed

Yep.

Max is cold and disconnected. Furiosa has purely her mission and goals at heart, along with the safety of her girls (and eventually, max).

No romance was ever needed. Would have fucked up Max's character. He's a crazy enigma.

I've not seen the road warrior or beyond thunderdildo before. I've seen Mad Max 1

should I watch them? My dad has them as a blu ray set.

Question:
What does Max say when he's tied to Nux's car and they're about to fight the other bad guys? Confuckimus or something?

Apparently the artbook states that at the end of the film
Furiosa is ready to love but Max isn't, so he carries on like before.
I'm glad that's not in the actual film though.

i'm glad they didnt do that. the ending of the movie as it is right now is basically perfect

Maybe they'll make to the Director's Cut.
