Mad Max: Fury Road |OT| What a Lovely Day | RT: 98% | Metacritic: 89

For those who have seen the movie, who is the person in the chair that spots the Wild Rig on its way to Gas City? What is that character's name?

Not in terms of plot or anything, but TDK was an action movie that was received a lot of acclaim out of nowhere. I remember posting on another forum and seeing everyone so excited to see the movie because of its positive reception.

I just remember some people saying TDK was "If HEAT were a superhero movie" and getting a decent laugh from that.
I loved TDK, but come on mayne! :D

Here is the only "backlash" I can think of:

-Not enough focus on Max
-Some thin characters--slight spoilers:
(each of the wives doesn't get a TON of time, and some of the "bosses" are pretty thin)
-ADR can be distracting
-Hardy can occasionally be unintelligible
-Dialogue has some rough spots
-Tone can vary/is "weird"

If that's the criteria, then it feels more like a Casino Royale situation to me

I honestly don't know what it feels like. Neither Bond nor Batman fell off the face of the map like Mad Max did, and neither were stuck in development as long. This is a totally different beast in my eyes.

GAF I need help. I am not very familiar with Dbox and Ultra AVX. Could anyone tell me if Dbox is worth it and preferable to Ultra AVX?

Yeah I'm definitely more hyped for this movie. Some people to skip the third one? Should I just read a plot summary of it?

Maybe not comparable development wise, but considering the backlash of Die Another Day and the fact that it was a reboot, Casino Royale really came out of nowhere and shocked people.

Thunderdome is worth watching for:

-crazy set/costume designs
-awesome apocalyptic world building
-Gibson working that dark charm
-Tina Turner chewing the scenery

Jesus, some people make Beyond Thunderdome out to be like Godfather III bad. It's not.

Love how the thread title keeps updating the RT percentage. 99% is the sweet spot, hope it holds. Hopefully it convinces some gaffers to watch the movie.

89 on Metacritic.

I wouldn't say it got it out of nowhere. BB was very well received just a few years prior.

I don't know if I should watch the originals, I have a vague remembrance of them to the point I'm not sure I even actually saw them, but I also don't want to binge watch and feel exhausted about these world before I see the new movie.

I don't watch films based on their RT rating but I know some people do. Hopefully the word gets around and it draws a crowd.

At the end of the day, Casino Royale ended with a 95% RT with an average rating of 7.8/10 (222 reviews), while The Dark Knight has a 94% RT with an average rating of 8.6/10 (315 reviews).

So far Mad Max Fury Road is at 99% RT with an average rating of 9/10, with 75 reviews, so it's definitely closer to TDK than Casino Royale. The average rating is much more important.

Huh, didn't know those movies rated so high. I like them, but I don't think they're anything special.

I'm not going to say this movie is bad by any means (it is a crazy spectacle of a ride) but wonder if some of the credits up-scored it since Avengers was lack luster and too samey?

I don't think any of the reviews cited are even mentioning Avengers as a point of comparison. Honestly, it seems like it's not even occurring to them.

So excited. Completely blown away by the praise.

I think I asked this earlier, but would this be a good date movie? I am just worried it'll be too violent/crazy.

I know I'm probably going with a female friend tomorrow because she thinks it looks great, but I couldn't remotely convince my other female friend to go. Just depends.

Not saying they are comparing them in articles but you can't deny an impact of seeing what should've been AMAZING and kind of flopping in a sense and then seeing this great flick.
