Got Jeets down to 0% last night. I had a blast doing it too. Now on to Gut Gash's territory.

I've also almost leveled Max out on Griffa tokens.

He's going to be unstoppable soon.

There is a part of my soul that needs to roam around and explore apocalyptic wastelands and this game satisfies it beautifully. It reminds me a lot of FUEL in that respect.

Wasn't interested in attacking convoys, but today I thought to try it at least once. First attempt failed miserably as one driver pushed me into a pillar of a bridge and made me to repair my car. Went for attempt n°2 and picked off the cars one by one. Other free-roaming enemies joined and wanted to get rid of me, but I pulled of their tires and headed for the main vehicle in the convoy and pumped two shotgun shells into its back. I was left against three enemie cars and had to jump out of the Magnum Opus because it got too damaged. The enemies stooped, got out of their cars and wanted to fight on foot. After defeating the approximately 8 opponents I collected my trophy and headed back to Jeet's place.

Just finished the story and gotta say its my #2 game of the year (Witcher 3 being #1). Loved everything about it. Did all the main / side quests even the purple ones on map. All areas are at 0 threat, 100% any area I went to but I did leave a bunch of yellow areas unlooted on map.

Gotta say love the little extra bits of stuff u get at the end too. Spoiler tagged if you don't want to see.

Nice pic, I took a similar one earlier. Finally finished the story too. I haven't cleared out all the areas and doubt I will now. I have enjoyed my 30 hours with the game but couldn't give it more than a 7.5 due to the repetitive nature of the open world tasks. Would definitely be on board for an improved sequel though.

Love the game, got bored of Shadow of Mordor quick... not happening so far with this. Also I love chum bucket, I was actually worried about him being an annoyance.

One more thing, I try to 100% all the bases but I notice I get sick to my stomach after looking around over and over for those scraps and insignias... guessing motion sickness or something.

Steam has me at 47hrs, even I got a bit burnt out on the side stuff. At the end I wanted last engine up grade so I was just clearing out some side stuff and only looting camps that had a scrap palette while hoping a storm would come in.

Just bought it for PC. $19 was just too good to pass up. I'll start it when I get bored of or finished MGSV.

Just got the XBone version at GameStop. Was going to get PS4, but they just received a perfect used copy for XBox. Can't wait to see what all the fuss is about.

Just started a half hour ago. Does max feel laggy in his movements to anyone else? Feels very heavy, almost Witcher like. The fight controls feel good though, in that batman way.

The buggy feels heavy as hell too. It doesn't turn immediately then kinda rips in that direction all at once. This is disappointing.

It grows on you, took me a few hours now Max feels great. Plus, once you start upgrading the Opus it handles much better

Anyone completed the challenge where you have to do a front collision using the level 5 ramming grill with another car that has it too?

Apparently it can't be done if the car is not moving, but most of the time the car either runs away or the last hit doesn't count as front collision.

To anyone who already beat the game (contains spoilers obv.):

The car you get from Scrotus in the end, + the scene with the photo of Hope and Glory...isn't this basically the beginning of Mad Max: Fury Road?

Does that mean Fury Road begins where Mad Max ends? :d

In response to the earlier discussion about the possibility of a sequel, as much as I love the game (contender for GOTY for me right now, but Fallout 4!!), I don't think there will be a sequel. I would love to be proven wrong though.

I would imagine an open world game takes a lot of money and resources to develop, and a low 70s score probably does not justify a sequel. Ironically enough, I think the game would have a higher chance of getting a sequel if it was a shitty movie tie-in, look at the Iron Man games. But clearly a lot of thoughts and care went into this game, and it doesn't look like Avalanche can just churn out another game for the next Mad Max movie, not if they want to improve on the already solid foundation of the first game.

P.S. Ooh just noticed I'm a member now, yay!

I'm really enjoying the game, but I'm a little concerned at how fast I'm upgrading shit. Like, it feels as if I'm going to be 80% upgraded by the time I finish Jeet's territory.

13 hours in, Still need to finish some work in Jeets territory but went to Gutgash stronghold tonight via story mission which was cool, Game has been a blast to play especially now that I'm getting pretty decent with the on foot combat, and the semi awkward control (Max's half hop instead of a jump still has me scratching my head tho lol).

Yes, I wish they would somehow patch in a much better jump.

I fell off the side of a walkway into a bit of ankle deep water in a cavern somewhere in the early territory. The hop barely managed to get me back up to the walkway which wouldn't have even been at knee level.

Shit jump is shit.

This game really feels like the text book definition of 'cult classic' to me.

That is to say, if you can make your peace with its glaring problems, you'll probably love it and defend it vehemently. If those problems are significant for you, you probably wont make it out of hour three.

Alternate or default, I just cannot come to grips with the control scheme in this game. When you borrow so heavily from other games, but make significant changes to the controls everyone is used to, it's like fighting muscle memory to play it. I'm like 15 hours in and I'm STILL accidentally shooting my gun in combat.

I 100% agree with the people ITT saying a lot of the open world tasks feel like busy work. Not only is the game Ubisoft-esque, but at times it actually feels early Assassin's Creed-esque (that's bad). When you walk up to a stranger parked just outside a base, to get the SAME bit of intel every time (there's always a side entrance to the base, lads) it seriously feels like the AC1 template of eavesdropping before an assassination. The scarecrows and snipers are fun for a while, but eventually you're just taking them down to tick them off your checklist. The convoys don't go anywhere. They just go in a circle waiting to be killed. That's not a convoy. The bases have decently elaborate design and room for exploration but generally speaking, they are so samey.

... but with all that said, I'm in the pro-Mad Max camp. The combat is still satisfying. The world is still fantastic for any fans of the fiction. Photo mode is a joy. The car combat is aces. The story is nothing but the dialog is solid if you are all about the Mad Max style. Chumbucket will probably be overlooked in some 'New Character of the Year' awards this year, which is a travesty.

Fully agree. There may be problems but this game is fun, addictive, and incredibly beautiful. I got to the
dunes
and just drove around enjoying the day night cycle and the joy of spinning my wheels through the well realized sands. Then in
gastown area, love the piles of garbage with bits of paper and stuff flying around
just incredible immersive touches throughout. Photo modes are photo modes but this one has the benefit of incredible looking subject material. Like others have said, you could spend hours taking photos of the countless amazing sights throughout the wasteland.

I thought this game would be there to just break up my time with MGS V. Though once I started Mad Max, I haven't stopped. I haven't spent a whole day playing a game since I was a lot younger. Mad Max scratched a very distinct itch. For the life of me I can't fathom some of the things I've read in reviews and heard on some podcasts regarding this game.

What I would love is higher difficulty levels. Any word of increased difficulty coming in a patch or anything like that?

I think my game is bugged? Can't seem to progress from here:

That piece that is locked out says I need to complete that story mission, but my story mission currently is to build this car. I also have all blue side missions complete. I hope I'm just dumb and this isn't a bug.

Mine didn't trigger until i selected the correct parts in the 1st and 3rd circles there. I'd already unlocked a better part than the mission required and it didn't trigger until I downgraded the part to the one that was marked with the quest/green circle. Try that and back out of the pause screen and it might trigger.

Those icons with the green dots above them mean you've got to select specific parts in there, even if it's a downgrade, to meet the mission quota. Once you do that the mission will progress!

I tried that, but I changed everything back without backing out of the pause screen before I switched everything back. I'll give that a shot tomorrow, thanks.

Same happened to me too, but I think the Ripper body was breaking it for me. Went back to the part it wanted and mission progressed.

I just started this after MGSV and wow, the quality difference in animation is pretty stark, especially the cutscenes and stuff like that.
Lovely game so far though, I can see me spending quite some time here when I need a breather and just want to have fun after a frustrating MGSV session! Somehow it reminds me of Enslaved... no idea why because those games are pretty different, heh.

I see people saying they are getting it cheap on PC... WHERE? lol

we don't get in trouble for talking sites do we? i'm sure these were mentioned earlier in the thread anyway. some people are saying GMG but that didn't look cheap to me, cdkeys has it for under $20.

So I'm still in Jeet's territory but I have a question -- when I harpoon a tire, I always hear Chumbucket say something like 'Stomp it and rip that tire right off!'...

But I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to do. It sounds like it means hit nitro and pull it off at speed, which makes sense, but I've tested this on a still car and it doesn't seem to work. I have seen cars driving on their rims, so I know i've destroyed tires... just want to know if there is something beyond what I'm doing to make it work right.

Metacritic score doesn't determine sequels, sales [and brand power, in some cases] determine sequels. If this gets the word of mouth it should, it'll have a sequel. metacritic only goes so far, games like tearaway on vita had great reviews and it meant nothing.

At level 4 harpoon, I believe you can quick pull their tires in the same way you can quick pull enemies or easier parts like car doors.

I think you need one of the upgrades to the harpoon for it to pull off wheels. After you got it you can just press B (playing on xbox one controller on PC here) to quick pull it off or drive in other direction. After that the car stops and you can easily mash it to pieces for some glorious explosions.

I'm absolutely and helplessly hooked to this game.

Yesterday I put aside wasteland missions and story missions, cleaned up Jeet's zone, and then went to Gutgash's and reduced threat to 1 there for the car upgrades.

Went to pink eye's after and started working that threat meter down, so now I have a better V8 engine.

My car is now looking really aggressive, so awesome, have Max fully upgraded too. I can't put this game down and I've been playing for 25 hours total since last thursday. What is MGSV?

I'm hooked too. I went from Fantasy Life, of all things, to this. That carrot on a stick gameplay hooks me hopelessly, no matter how trivial the reward is :p

Pretty much this. Though I only have Jeet's at 0 now and working on Gutgash. Still haven't even gotten the glorious V8 yet.
