Mad Max: Review Thread.

I'll certainly read the reviews, but I'm already half-committed to buying this. I've watched a good number of gameplay videos and while it doesn't look like a triple-A game, it looks like something I would enjoy, even if it does use the generic open-world formula.

X-Men Origins Wolverine
It was actually better than the movie.

I'm still salty I can't find a PC version of this, or able to get a legit digital copy. I loved this game. So bad ass watching Wolverine self-heal. It's funny it was brought up because I was combing through Amazon yesterday looking to see how much a copy could be had for.

Wow, a 7 is mediocre to you people, wtf.
When you're launching opposite one of the most hotly anticipated games of the decade, and amongst a season loaded with heavy hitters... It's a mediocre showing.

Had they released this during the Summer dead zone, it'd be an easy purchase. Now? It's a lesser offering.

Well, all of them but two, to be exact.
Worst being Final Fantasy 7 and best being Final Fantasy 8 of course
im kidding don't set my house on fire internet

I expect the large majority of known outlets will give it between a 7.5-8 and that's fine. It's always been a game i had planned on picking up in like late jan-feb when i had nothing to play

I still get upset with myself for not buying a handful of copies of it and stranglehold from Big Lots a couple years back they were like $2

Nothing to worry about yet but from I've heard from previews in such I'm expecting a game in the 70s. Unfortunately for WB though 70s won't cut it when it releases side by side with Metal Gear.

while those early reviews aren't exactly a high metre of quality, i don't expect the other reviews dropping to be much better in terms of score.

$8 at Amazon U.S.for physical

It has that giant GFWL logo on it. I'm not sure it even works on Windows 10, and I don't have a disc-drive installed, so I'd have to pick one of those up too.

I was so happy when I found a copy of PREY, even more so to learn that the Steam code was still in there and worked. When I was looking the other day for Wolverine, I didn't know that it was a GFWL title. It hurts my feelings.

That's what I thought too. It kept hitting the wrong button and every time I thought I had a good open shot.
Default car controls seem to be an issue lately. Aren't the default Batmobile controls in Arkham Knight counter-intuitive shit too?

At least Rockstar understands that the proper use of the B button when driving is to go into a completely unusable and useless cinematic camera, as it should ;p

I was the first to picket this on first abysmal showing-also biased towards JC3 as my friend is working on that game-

however

recent videos (some put up today as a matter of fact) of hour long playthroughs-direct feed - look much better than the initial twitch stream.

still getting it (in a few weeks)

Awful reviewers. Everyone, wait until someone with at least some semblance of credibility reviews this before shouting out negative comments about the game.

I have no problems with people wanting to wait for more reviews. Further, I have no problem if anyone wants to take these reviews to task for any specific points made. But as with any review thread I peruse, I want to caution against this kind of posting. I promise you that it's not productive.

We could be more selective when it comes to review sources...

The first blog—which looks like it was made by a hairy, grassy dude in a shack—immediately opened some bullshit ad with popup dialogs in the background.

I mean, it says right there in the logo it's "Your source for video game reviews". You doubtin'?

Is it based on the movie though? I thought it was just another adaptation using the license, similar to Batman Arkham games and Shadow of Mordor.

Fuck it, bit the bullet at the GMG sale price. I love the films and have a soft spot for B-tier action games so hopefully my expectations are properly adjusted. Will post impressions tomorrow.

What do people mean by 'Ubification'? I haven't finished an Ubisoft game since AC2.

What's interesting is the JC2 team did Mad Max, and the JC3 team is the brand new American team.

That's unexpected. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised though, as the new team's job was to iterate on a franchise in which just about anything goes while the team working on Max had to work within
the limitations of a licensed game while dealing with the transition between console generations.

LOL why are y'all so mad? 😂 Has there EVER been a good game based on a movie? I saw these bad reviews coming a mile away.

Being a movie game does not automatically imply a bad game. You gotta look at the devs before anything. Avalanche has a pretty good track record, so at the very least I would assume this game to be average at the very least, but not necessarily bad.

Wow, a 7 is mediocre to you people, wtf.

So you're like AngryJoe, you rate games from very very bad to very very good, anything above 5 is good lol smh...

Its like this :

It's like in school.

90% or higher is good

80% to 90% is average

70% to 80% is baseline

60% to 70% is "you're probably going to have to retake this class."

under 60% is "you failed."

IMO 80% to 84% is average, 85% to 89% is good and 90% above is great(certified).
Anything below 80% for me is below average ,deficient (mediocre) and probably will never buy, just depending on the game of course. For Example(The Evil Within 75 metacritic score and it wasn't that bad).

That ain't a GFWL title. It has no GFWL at all.

Games for Windows is different from Games for Windows Live. The first one is just basically a banner saying "yeah this was approved by Microsoft, please buy it", the other one is the DRM.

I bought a copy off eBay earlier in the year. Got it for about $10?
