Maybe he's not gay. This could just be another in a long list of Bob's "climber" moments.

Based on Pete's non-reaction, maybe he detected that too. Bob wants to be Pete, but I don't think he wants to be with Pete.

EDIT: LOL, Weiner basically said as much in the "Inside Episode..." clip. I hope I'm right, because a homosexual Bob is a heck of a lot less interesting than hilariously clingy climber Bob.

I agree, or hope so, whatever the correct terminology is...

I shot people I like more for less.
Just watched, fucking shit. I was going to go to bed after this but I don't even feel like it now. Worst part is I knew that shit was coming like halfway through the episode and it still felt awful.

FUUUUUCK :( feels bad, man

1. Fuck you Time Warner no more East Coast feed making me wait

2. Manololololololol

3. Pete was up and down in likeness this episode.

4. Peggy + Stan phone convo was hilarious. They way Stan said "No you won't" to Peggy's "worth your while" killed me.

5. Not convinced Bob Benson is gay, he might have just been playing a game with Pete there to solve his problem.

6. Okay, I totally fell for that surprise ending. I thought Sally was going to end up having sex with the boy. It didn't cross my mind he'd run into Don. TBH, the timing of it seems off. I assumed Sally returned as soon as she heard about the note, basically, while we already saw Don in the office. But Don got there first? Not so sure.

But wow @ that revelation. Sally walking in on Don and Sylvia must fuck her up pretty bad. And that dinner scene...the tension as short as it was..oh man. Don's excuse i something you'd tell an 8 year old. hilariously bad. Sally ain't stupid. I wonder where the show goes with this for the next two episodes.

Great episode.

PS: lol @ Roger juggling.

E3 megatons come early

lol'd @ this. Fucking hell this episode was awesome. That nice (or scheming) guy ends up being gay (why are people saying bisexual? I don't remember him showing interest in a woman like that unless I've forgotten something) and Sally finds out about Don. Goddamn.

On another note I'm kind of at odds with Don's views about the war. He seems to show constant conflicting opinions on this and the new left in general. He's been a progressive in the past on race and women in the work place, but a lot of times this season he's acted conservative. He seemed apathetic about police beating up protestors "they knew what they were getting into", said "it's not our problem" about the draft, and so on.

But then earlier on there's the meeting at the bar of the kid going to war. Don keeps his lighter by accident and he becomes obsessed about it. Then he flat out says in this episode the war is wrong, and the issue of Sylvia's kid keeps bugging him enough to get him to do something about it. Did he really just help out in order to get back into the good graces
pants
of Sylvia?

I'm not sure where he stands and why. Has Weiner talked about this in any interviews this season? About the war themes being brought up a lot and why it continues to plague Don so much.

After finishing this latest episode, Roger's line at the beginning, "Not all surprises are bad." is pretty funny in relation to the surprise Sally got this episode.

From 5/27:
Is Bob Benson gay?
Yes. He's just hanging out with Joan to be her fabulous best friend.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say no.
Just let the record show that I called it when it's eventually revealed as the cliffhanger ending of the season.

I knew it!

Gotta ask, why? Because he gave him a motivational speech? A lot of people seemed to float this theory around, not obviously confirmed, but I never got what was supporting it. Those shorts seemed common for the times...
Even way before Ginsberg asked him.

1.) Went to a brothel to celebrate with Pete and didn't partake in the services of the establishment (this was when they ran into Pete's father-in-law)
2.) Knows a male nurse in the 1960's
3.) When Joan told him about Pete's mom, he had this office-gossipy tone in his voice.

5. Not convinced Bob Benson is gay, he might have just been playing a game with Pete there to solve his problem.
I don't think Bob necessarily has feelings for Pete, but I do think he's gay. When Pete tossed out his first slur before Bob had touched his leg, Bob's face was visibly pained.

Well I don't know much about that theory, but maybe Pete uses his gun to try and kill Bob Benson, but shoots Megan instead?

That's not going to happen.

nah man, Peggy is gonna spear her when she catches her making out with Stan.

I don't think Bob necessarily has feeling for Pete, but I do think he's gay. When Pete tossed out his first slur before Bob had touched his leg, Bob's face was visibly pained.

hard to say. I think he is but mostly because I think Ginsberg can pick up on these things.

I don't think Sally is going to tell anyone. She didn't say anything when she saw Megan's mother fellating Roger. I think this "favor" done by Sally's friend gave her a peak into who Don truly is.

I am loving the new wrinkle in Salamander and Don's relationship. Every kid eventually discovers their parents are not as awesome as they thought growing up

Bunsen was totally hitting Joan. You don't go to the beach with Joan and just play in the sand. No, no, no. If you're on the island with Joan, you play in the fire. ;)

Bob will most likely be revealed as homosexual or bi, who knows.

As for the rest of the episode. FUCK. Damn, Don you finally got caught.

Bob seemed bi to me, his whole speech revolved around the idea that love could be universal. He loosens Peter up with a drink, sits very close, touch's his leg, looks deep into his eyes, how else could you read that? Finally he flashes a very clear fake smile that does not meet his eyes once Peter turns the conversation back towards the nurse with a quick "tell him it's disgusting".

I highly doubt he would attempt to expose Peter to such a "perversion" in some vain attempt to climb the ladder, he doesn't seem that dumb. But ultimately i'm curious to see if i'm wrong about that.

We've had lesbians and homosexuals on this show, I suppose it wouldn't be that wild to have a bi-sexual in there too.

While I'm sure Pete is mostly disgusted by Bob's advance toward him, there's probably some part of him deep inside that was slightly flattered, considering it's the most affection anyone has shown him in a very long time.

Which is probably why he didn't go completely apeshit on him. Not yet, at least.

I grown tired of the weekly "will this be the thing that stops Don from cheating" thing they've been doing. I used to dislike Don, now I'm just bored.

I don't know if the expression Bob gave off Pete's remark is pained, or more like, "Ah, well, that's a possible new angle..."

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
Bob is definitely gay. He was absolutely crushed that Pete didn't care for his advances. Not to mention he was positive about the male nurse's sexuality. I knew the nurse was gay from his first scene with Pete, he gave his ass a pretty long stare.

The mystery behind Bob Benson, finally revealed. The gay secret agent lost long brother of Don Draper.

Fantastic episode and the last 15 minutes were dynamite. I wonder how this season will end, especially with a return of Chekov's rifle.

well, the "megan is already dead" theory is done, right?

What if that episode is flashback and several previous were flashforwards and Megan got depressed after Sally told her that she cheated and Don killed her and Don concocted the reality in his head and Sylvia took part in his power play because she was afraid he would kill her cause she finds out what Don did because Bob Bunson saw this when he was nearby to visit Don with two coffees?

Brilliant episode. Everything from Sally walking in on them onwards was sheer class. Such an excruciating dinner.

I sometimes like to read the posts you guys were putting up as it was aired as I'm watching it and this:

Microsoft should get Don Draper to do E3 tomorrow.

"We wanted to comfort gamers."

absolutely slayed me. Nicely done, Gooster.

God damn, the awkwardness was strong in this episode. Sally walking in on Don and Sylvia was a great scene. And I feel sorry for Sally about the letter, she should have slapped that girl instead of a punch in the arm.

I can always identify your posts by your strange interpretation of this show.

I wouldn't consider Don progressive in any respect, really.

He might have sympathy for certain groups and people, but he rarely seems compelled to act on them.
