Don's passively progressive, that's been a theme since the beginning. He's accepting of Sal until throwing Sal under the bus is the easiest path, he's more accepting of Blacks but it takes Pete or Kinsey someone like him them to actually do anything.

I believe he stated earlier that he was a Rupublican, but I don't think his political feelings run very deep.

And it wasn't uncommon to be against the war, no matter how you leaned.

Holy fucking shit at that episode. Definitely one the best in the series.

Couldn't stop laughing at Pete's delivery of "Do NOT be more specific!"

Also I am now totally on board with the theory that Meagan is banging someone. The look she gave when Sally's friend asked if she was calling her agent and the delivery of her response was a definite hint.

It's Stan. Who's with me?

Kiernan Shipka is amazing as Sally.

The look of abjection and utter befuddlement on her face when she caught Don and Sylvia was incredible. She and Hamm were wonderful during the through-the-bedroom-door conversation.

She can't catch a break, though. She catches Roger fucking Megan's mom last season, and now she finds her dad with the mother of the boy she kind-of likes.

As soon as Sally ran back into the building and got the keys, I started fast-forwarding because I knew what was coming. Even at 3X speed it made my stomach do a flip and Don looking like he was about to vomit for the rest of the episode didn't do anything to make me feel better. He is a sad, weak dinosaur and he is damaging everyone around him.

Child of divorce, saw your step-grandmother blowing your dad's partner from work, walked in on your dad cheating on your step-mom, cheating on her with the mother of the boy you liked. Plus you got your period while on a creepy day trip with a future New York serial killer?!

I smell a Sally spin-off that takes place in the 70s. Baby girl is going to be going through some thangs.

That and he's a coward.

Seems like good enough reasons. Was expecting some Freudian explanation though like the ones that pop up in regards to his history with women.

I can always identify your posts by your strange interpretation of this show.

I don't know if this is a compliment or criticism or neither =p

Also there were a bunch of lengthy shots of doors, doors left ajar, open doors etc again in this episode when they could've cut the scene a few seconds earlier. Even the end shot is of doors.

So, Megan has interacted with Sally, Sally's friend, Dr. Rosen, and Rosen's Son. So she isn't dead, right?

My theory is that instead, Sylvia has been dead the whole time, and Sally walked in on Don fucking an anime pillow.

Once Sally got the keys from the doorman, I could see where they were going. But it didn't make it any less awkward. It was like watching a car crash in slow motion. Then everybody bugging out afterwards was the icing on the tension cake.

Episode went in a totally different direction than I expected. I would have bet money that Sally or her friend were going to get taken advantage of by the kid downstairs.

I had the same reaction.

And if it turns out to be true, I called it! I was saying this early in the season.

Why would Bob be into Pete? :/ Like seriously, the guy has nothing going for him and is unlikeable in pretty much every way. Bob's a nice, good-looking guy. He could do much better.

Sorry, but that kind of seemed a little weird to me.

Man, until T&L mentioned it I totally forgot about that "If you're lonely, get a cat" line. This season really is Mad Men: Best Of. Amazing callback.

Another callback:
In season 3, Don told Sally: "I thought you were gonna be a boy. Not all surprises are bad."
Yesterday, Roger told Don "Not all surprises are bad".

(There's also the connection that Sally's surprise was bad and she had a similar but much less bad, surprise last season when she saw a sexual scene involving, of course, Roger.)

I think you might be too wrapped up in your perception of Pete and not how a new character in the show would view a young, successful higher-up at a firm likened to the '27 Yankees.
Pete's done plenty to prove he's aN unlikeable git since Bob has been there. Hell, the conversation they had leading up to the awkward knee-touching was a pretty big giant billboard of a sign that says 'PETE IS A TWAT'.

You might remember back when Betty was pregnant with Eugene and Don said to Sally that not all surprises are bad. Then, he was referring to the kid's gender.

Callbacks all around.

You're still projecting too much.

Let the characters be who they are. Stop imposing your feelings on them.

I'm not entirely convinced that Bob has purely romantic feelings for Pete. He could just be looking for a way up the corporate ladder.

From the moment sally returned to get the key, I started shouting, "I don't wanna watch this, I can't watch this, aaaaAAAAAA!!!!". The reveal was so torturous and slow, and then climaxed with Don caught mid -thrust with 0 excuses left to play. Soooooo Gooooood. GoT didn't give half the feelings this episode did.

Bob's all about the social climbing. He's attempting the "sleep with a partner" maneuver.
