Currently trying to clean my backlog, starting with Mafia 3.
It's a decent game but would have loved more more mission variety, it's all the same, things get repetitive.
and also fuck the random mob attacks, drove from downtown to the bayou, stole a boat, collected the crates, drove across the map again to deliver the boat, switched to truck, was about 100m away from the racket and the mob attacks me. fuck that shit.

Is there a way to deactivate the 'slow aiming' when approach the target (with controller)? I have auto aim off but everytime I want to shoot a running enemy, the reticle slows down so dramatically I can hit him >.<

I am playing with gamepad on PC and i don't have any slowdowns when i aim. But i am not sure what are my autoaim setting. I am sure that they are not on max settings because i still need to be precise when aiming.
Is it just me or is the silenced pistol stupidly good in this game? I'm stealthing through hideouts without a care in the world on hard difficulty, it's fun but feels pretty broken. Had it available from the start, not sure if it's a pre order DLC or something though.

With all the recent sales this was like $15 at one point. I still couldn't bring myself to buy it based on people saying it's just repetitive. I ain't got time for that.

Yes it does. I can't wait but at the same time I'm really sad this comes to an end. As someone who bought the game day one and saw it improving with every patch and playing every DLC day one, it feels like a series finale or something.
It wasn't an easy first release for Hangar 13 but It's still one of my favorite games of the gen.
Holy goodness, that looks like the Smith 34 Hot Rod from Mafia II. I am ready! The vehicles in this game just keep getting better. I like how each vehicle on the delivery list feels so completely unique. New outfit, new ride - let's go!
I really enjoyed the main mission of Faster, baby. The optional one seems to come along with the usual boring side missions of the main gamewhich I haven't finished yet and don't plan to do so for its artifical game time extension with repetitive missions. Regarding the main plot of the DLC and its mission design, this is how I want a Mafia to be. Intense and with a more narrow mission design in addition with characters and interaction with such, whether through dialog or gameplay mechanics. I'd rather take this approach before 'do it however you like, but just kill him/smash up things worth several thousands of dollars' any day.
It was just way too short (okay for a DLC, however). If they ever gonna make a Mafia IV with this kind of missions and make it several hours long, I'm all in.
Will continue with Stones Unturned in a couple of days.
Finished the main story's arc of Stones Unturned and will skip the optional missions for I think they're just like the rest of the main game's side missions (please correct me, If I'm wrong).
While Faster, Baby! do orientates on the story-driven mission design from Mafia 1 and 2, it also delivered a bit 'open-worldness'. This DLC, however, takes even a step further and it definitely felt really oldschool gameplay-wise. As in narrative driven gameplay that allows the plotinstead of the gamplayexpose us to a location, the gameplay getting us through the location and the plot to the next one again. This is how a Mafia is supposed to be. This is how Stones Unturned turned out to be.
I purchased the deluxe edition of Mafia III back at launch for $64 GCU and a $10 cert. Traded in the game after I fully completed it in January. Rented it from GameFly two weeks ago in anticipation of the third and final expansion. Played the first two expansions last week. Took less than a day for each. Main base game was an 8/10 for me. Faster Baby was a 5/10 (average) and Stones Unturned was a 6/10 (above average) for me personally. Hoping the final expansion is longer but im not expecting that to happen at all. Thankfully, the season pass cost me $15 after the GCU/$10 cert and trade in credit so for $5 each, I can't really complain but im glad that I didn't rebuy the game for the expansions and instead rented it from gamefly.
Faster Baby never got going at all, had a good bad guy and a good secondary character in Roxy but never goes anywhere. Before it even gets going, it's over. The herbalism took longer to complete than the main story missions.
Stones Unturned started out great and was good overall but the optional contracts were meh and the story itself again is just too short. Another good bad guy with a solid premise and while slightly longer than Faster Baby, it simply ends before it gets going. The new area is good though but again, both end so quickly that you never get to truly enjoy and immerse yourself in either one.
Last DLC has dropped (Sign of the Times), downloading now. This will be the final hurrah for Mafia 3, hopefully it goes out with a bang (but I am not holding my breath)
I didn't mind the previous 2 DLCs tbh...they were just too short (this last one will probably be no different)
--edit -- It appears I was wrong about the DLC dropping....this 11GB update must just be in preparation for it's release. Possibly getting unlocked tomorrow ?
Doesn't matter since they tell a seperate story each. If you like car-action, start with Faster, Baby!. If you like buddy-action it's Stones Unturned. Can't say anything about the latest one, of course.
About an hour and half into the DLC and paused for a smoke break.
Holy fuck.
It's so good - these developers deserve so much credit for these twisted , spooky interiors. Each location visited has been dripping in atmosphere, and it's that crazy cult 60s horror vibe. They nailed it. The black light sections are really good in creating tension, and the investigations feel like L.A. Noire (which I loved). I can't wait to pick it back up, really enjoying it. I'm to the point where if it's a shootout I don't feel like engaging in, there's so much money to spend on Vito's boys playing clean up crew so I can just soak in the atmosphere. Loving every bit of it honestly.

I might be doing an article or such about the best order to play the game. Who has good opinions for what was a nice order of events?
For example --
Play through to the Night of Blood...
Delray Hollow (Cassandra)
River Row (Vito)
Irish Point (Burke)
***First Sit Down***
Enjoy some Racing and some Car Customization
Downtown
DLC Sign of the Times
*unlock some cars, weapons, and costumes
Start rebuilding Sammy's Club
Barclay Mills
Tickfaw Harbor (discusses coming from Havana)
DLC Stones Unturned (go to an island near Cuba)
*unlock some cars, weapons, and costumes
Try the Bounty Hunter activity
Frisco Fields
DLC Faster Baby (after Remy's story arc in Frisco Fields)
*unlock some cars, weapons, and costumes
Start your Grow House activity
Southdowns
French Ward
Finish the rest of the main story
Where would you start Cassandra's weapon story, Vito's hitman story, and Burke's car thefts? Would you try any of the Hideout deliveries? Would you mix District takeovers and do a Hideout in one, the a Hideout in another? Do any Hideouts compliment each other?

I'm tempted to replay the whole game with all DLC features active to see how different it feels. The DLCs were created to provide variation in play style, actions, and story along side the larger Marcano story. Personally I wish there had been a Vito and you-know-who DLC. There's a lot of areas in New Bordeaux just begging for some story*
So glad you're enjoying this last chapter! Everyone put a lot of time and effort into each DLC.
*oh the stories you could show if you could use that black light anywhere! haha

It is nice that DLCs added some variety. But it is also sad that many things that are kinda simple to add (HUD toggle for example or photo mode) never added to the game. I hope that all of you at Hangar 13 (if you are still there ) took this Mafia 3 feedback and that you will try to do some things differently on next project. Also as I said before I hope that you will get chance to work on Mafia game again.
All feedback and suggestions are heard for sure. You can bet there's a lot of cringing when all things are considered and decisions have to be made. A lot goes on with priorities, scheduling, and timing when you're not an Ubi-sized team.
There's a handful of what I considered easy wins that proved to be a little more tricky with all the other things going on. For me, photo mode would be such an obvious win once it was in player's hands especially in the Polaroid era of 1968.

Especially now that Nvidia offers Ansel tool that is amazing. I don't know how modular is engine you are using but it looks like that Ansel is not that hard to implement. Maybe now that all DLCs are done somebody at Hangar 13 gets bored and adds it in maybe one last patch XD

After almost 6ish hours, I have seen the end - and what a stunning finale this DLC was. The setpieces and shootouts that take you from one creepy locale to the next became grander as the narrative unfolded. And the narrative was really twisted, and well written (although I suspect there will be some backlash for the
rape angle, not because it wasn't done with care but maybe because it felt very sudden
. It just got darker in tone, and even the shootout locations became wilder as the plot unfolded.
Bravo, to such exquisite interiors. The enemy design was ace, some of the taunts these women hurled while screaming and attacking with knives out of nowhere really kept me on edge. And the slo-motion shooting - that of dreams. As if the shooting mechanics couldn't get any better, slo-motion really allows you to appreciate how heavy everything feels. Every bullet has brutal impact, and it actually feels like a true spectacle when chaos is erupting.
The
restoration of Sammy's bar was damn near perfect
. It gave me a ton of closure with Lincoln's character, and it was so nice to go back. Finally putting that money to damn good use, it seriously reminded me of how
the villa in Monteriggioni (Assassin's Creed II) felt like home as you reconstructed it piece by piece. Some of the upgrades felt so substantial, that I actually really enjoyed how alive the place felt as you poured more money into it.
These DLCs really highlight Hangar 13 at their best - it's incredible the way the mission design focused on pushing great writing and narrative forward enhances the game so much. I wish we could've replayed just the major boss set piece missions, hell that would've felt very similar in structure to Mafia II. And that maybe the HUD could've disappeared for the best screenshots! But New Bordeaux is a city that I know I'll return to drive around - the vehicles that were added with each DLC deserve major praise. The final vehicle feels beastly, and a ton of fun to customize. And I found myself really experimenting with a ton of additions in combat this go around - throwing knives, sniper support, calling in Vito's guys- just a damn good time.
Well, it's time to say goodbye to one of my favorite games this generation. I still have some Weed upgrades to unlock because the damn plants take forever to grow, but it feels like I'll be returning for many years to cruise around. Seriously, the way the team built this game and continued to add bits and pieces really made me grateful for what it became. I think the city takeover mechanics will always be held in contempt for messing with the pacing of the game, but the combat and driving mechanics are so solid.
Next stop, Mafia IV.
Please, for the love of everything - tell us about Joe!

I'm definitely a slower paced player but this DLC felt meatier than the other two for sure. And there's a bit of end game to really sort of put your resources to good use. Unlocked the cars, and the outfit and just enjoyed the hell out of the creepy violent madness of it all.I'd say 4-6, I looked at my Steam recently played time with no break and it ended up being in that range. But I took it slow!
Ok, thanks.....I think i'm done then. The amount of $ required to fully upgrade the bar is pretty insane and I didn't bother with the herbalism at all from Faster Baby, otherwise I may have had some of the cash to do it
The side missions are also a chore...which is the only other way to make money after finishing the game.
Yeah, the herbalism is how I got that money. Once it's fully upgraded and you have some decent strains, you can get about 15,000$ to 20,000$ every 20 minutes.
How do you start the last dlc? I just installed the game and it said faster, baby, faster and stones unturned are both unlocked, but didn't say anything about sign of times though and it's not marked on the map like the two others.

Which platform ? Unlocked fine for me in Steam and there was a mission to start the DLC in the objectives list.
If you are on the Steam version, check the DLC tab to see if it is shown. The console versions should also have a place to check installed DLC I would imagine.
If all this checks out, then possibly the final DLC requires you to be at a certain point in the main story of the base game before it becomes available.
I've been holding off on playing any of the DLCs until they were all out so I can't wait to return to this game and play all this content this week. Going to be a nice romp through some good story bits. Looking forward to it!

To be fair though, the DLC's did break the formulae and offer some nice gameplay and set pieces. It's just a pity the base game was so repetitive as you mentioned.
I'm sure they will take all this feedback on board when developing Mafia 4

Just started this game, and well, that was truly a fantastic opening. Have to say it really set the tone for the story. I've played a decent 2-3 hours since and the missions already feel more copy and paste in nature, standard fare open world. To be honest I am not terribly bothered by it because the story has me hooked and I love the setting. Some unique characters and the way it cuts back to a documentary style is awesome. What seems like a huge pity to me is how despite the detailed and beautiful world, it unfortunately lacks depth. I would have much rather they halve the game/map size and added more meaningful micro detail in the towns. As it stands, the open world really does not seem to serve the game mechanics or story purpose?
Most importantly, I found the original artistic styling not to my liking -- in fact, it prevented me from starting my initial play through as everything was blurry, even at native 4k. Installing the reshade by Nyclix turned this into one beautiful game. I hope one of the devs got to try the reshade because whatever Nyclix did, he turned what was there into something amazing.
I did not buy the DLC but I think I will now, would like to support Hangar 13.
