For those who tried Dragon Age Veilguard due to it being free with PS+ in March, what are your thoughts on it?

Are you implying there are only two genders?

I beat it in December as a Rogue, it was pretty good and had an epic ending, took about 57 hours. If u want to avoid the woke stuff then dont do the taash missions. It was actually quite funny to see that even in the game the mother of taash didnt aprove of her non binary gender identity, lol. I recommend doing all the loyaly missions though. Even though they say this game is woke trash, Avowed had a gay character who took it in the a**. I beat that game too and it was also a good playthrough on gamepass. (not worth $70)

So I actually bought psn subscription to give this a try, and 5 hours later I regretted it already.

So here is my short take.

Made a female character, mage, and 2 hours in realised I was playing in a all female squad trying to stop some evil. Exclusively no men. 4 woman sitting in circle with very, very childish dialogue, discussing the obvious. Love women, but man...

Made a male warrior, played for 3 hours more, realised this isn't and rpg, it's very bad action game, the dialogue only got worse.

Figured there are much better ways to waste my free time, and shut it off.

I refuse to add this to my game library. I don't want EA getting any kind of monetary kickback from my activating a license for it, nor do I want any measure of player engagement to accrue based on my actions.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a game that I do not want to exist. While I don't have a time machine to prevent its development and release from occurring, I will take every reasonable action to let EA know they develop games like this to their own financial detriment.

Downloaded it but i don't think i'll be able to start it soon.
Newborn won't let me enjoy my console...

I will give it a try at some point that is certain, but i won't insist if the gameplay doesn't click soon enough.
I already watched some footage and writing seems very bad. Even though combat looks like fun, most reviews i read say its very repetitive and you pretty much do everything the first 5+10 hours.
Bruh my guy is 1.5 years - Newborns sleep so much, we played so many games. Now I get maybe 2 hours a day, if I stream over lunch in the office.

You are lucky!
Mine doesn't sleep that much and she wants to sleep on us because we didn't leave her in the crib thst much due to spit up...
Now i get maybe 2-3 hours of play during the entire week.

Is the woke stuff as bad as people were complaining about or was it a lot of hype about nothing?
It depends. I don't give a shit about this stuff usually, but You could actually say that they force it on you. Not the trans quest which is both fine for what it is and ridiculous because this shit should take the back burner when there is end of the world stuff happening. There is trans stuff they want to put in your character's diary or whatever even after you clearly chose male, he/him and made a complete douchebag of a character. That is pretty forced because the choices you made should have filtered that out. I then ignored that thing as I normally do because I aint reading lore in a game that is already packed with hours of dialogue.

Tried it on the Pro.

It's a prime example on games can look absolutely beautiful and ugly at the same time.
I don't know what it is. Maybe I dislike the art style.
Comparing it to Forbidden West, which I think is the best looking game this generation.
Seemingly on a similar technical level, they are just miles between in how "beautiful" they look.
This is of course heavily dependent on art direction.
These days, "art direction" is like an umbrella term for the entire graphics pipeline.
And there are probably many important steps in that pipeline.
Maybe it is like Veilguard gets some of those steps right, but Horizon gets almost all of those steps right.

I think a lot of the environments do actually look all right, the characters just don't fit in them.

Had a great time with it at launch. I don't hold the Dragon Age IP very highly to begin with like others, so I just approached it as a game and had a good time.

The fade doesn't last that long, certainly not long enough to bring down the experience. I've always played with the "Skip the fade" mod ever since my first time though.
You mod out entire section of the game. Not saying the game isn't good, but Dragon Age was never great.
