Cool,
I'll probably just stick to the main story then.

The main storyline missions are still good after the prologue. But there's a lot of plodding stuff to do in-between them. The prologue is just a string of good missions one after another and it's a very noticeable dip in quality once the padding becomes prevalent. So how is this game? Seems everybody is crapping on it after the prologue / intro missions? I want to buy it since its cheap now and I would like some good open world game

Yeah. I remember when I got to this part and talked to the NPC who gives you your first quest. Before that all quests were given with actual directed cut scenes with some of the most natural acting characters I've seen in games. Then this guy was just standing in one place, flapping his lips and arms like any other RPG NPC. It felt like it was from another game. With padding you mean those racket missions? Man am I starting to get sick and tired of this. It totally lost the great feeling the prologue missions had and is really ruining the experience for me.

The end game gets better again but it comes so late. I want to encourage people to get there since it's a very satisfying wrap-up to the story but I can't blame anyone for dropping it before that.
For me, it's one of the saddest examples of a potentially great game compromised by repetitive, open world bloat. So many aspects are done really, really well, but they got too focused on quantity over quality. So how is this game? Seems everybody is crapping on it after the prologue / intro missions? I love the setting, the atmosphere, the sense of place. Combat feels vicious and satisfying. Some very enjoyable main missions. Cars feel appropriately heavy and are very fun to drive. It's just a cool, immersive world and era to be in.
They just tried to pad a very high quality 25 hour game into a 50 hour game, and it seriously hurts the overall experience.
Which part of the game is this in? Can't even remember it.As if these story missions before a good one appears weren't a big enough chore, they now want me to find garbage barges and they don't even show them on the map. This is the worst bullshit I've had in a game in a long time. I'm not even having fun anymore. The developers really didn't think things through.
So I'm LTTP here, but I just wrapped up the main game (I have Faster, Baby! installed but I think I need a break from open worlds for a while). Anyone able to point to some good story discussion threads/articles/podcasts? Absolutely loved the story and would like to read up on other people's thoughts.

Oh and yes,is still in the game. It's actually one of the better racket quest lines overall, one of two that I thought used the premise well. It would stand out if it was one of few who used that structure rather than one in like twelve.the KKK bit
I guess it comes down to is the season pass content worth $15?
They never patched in fast travel?
I've been playing for a bit and man is it boring. Really liked the intro, and the faux doc style of storytelling is a lot of fun. But now I'm honestly just trying to rush through the game taking over all the rackets. It's honestly not fun at all. The story is super bland atm and that also makes me not want to explore the city at all. Is there ever going to be a story? Or will I be taking over rackets till it's game over?
It's such a shame because I really liked Mafia 2 because of the story. And there is literally nothing coming close to a cool storyline atm.
For the base game this is pretty much par for the course. Majority of the game you are just taking over rackets/districts, you get some narrative sprinkled in here and there. This was the biggest disappointment of M3 as I consider the open world, atmosphere and music to be top notch, its just a pity the gameplay wasn't up to the same level.
Faster, Baby! was a definite improvement in the gameplay department, but it was all over way too soon.
I am looking forward to Stones Unturned which should be dropping in a day or so. More Donovan is never a bad thing
Apparently the new DLC is really short too. :/
Sitll on the fence about buying the season pass.
Isn't this always recommended? Sales happen super fast these days. Thanks to market price scimming nobody have to pay full price for very long. For people enjoying the DLC, would you recommend waiting for a sale on the season pass?

Okay, that's a good question I wasn't paying full attention to. I could be wrong but season passes are usually less frequent in sales.Do season passes often go on sale though? Mafia 3 is on sale right now on Steam, but the season pass is still full price.
Hmm, on the fence about the base game here, just a little question. Can you continue playing after finishing the game and then play the DLC ? I mean I can't imagine it any other way but sometimes endgame and DLC are dumb that way.
Contemplating picking this up since it's on sale at Best Buy. Anyword on a GOTY/complete edition? Not sure if I should wait or not.

So thinking about buying this game on sale, have they patched out some of the bugs/glitches? Improved AI?
