RevenantKioku said:As far as unlocking goes is it tied to the campaign ones? That is to say, once I use the Blue deck on the first challenge I only unlock that one card? I can't remember which ones I did with which decks so I'm not sure how to go about unlocking everything.

soldat7 said:How many cards total in this version? Any cards from sets other than the core set? I'm noticing the art has changed some in the 15 some odd years since I last played...yes world, I was a Magic player (well more collector but I did play some). Feels good to finally admit that to the world. :lol

AstroLad said:Yeah that was a great one. Too bad the other ones were just brutal.
I was playing around with R/G/W too yesterday; a handful of cards in and I too really don't like it. Maybe the late cards completely redeem it but blech just a mess and it just invites destruction. Never builds up to much.

Yeah, so far R and R/G/W are my least favorite. I still need to unlock 5-10 more cards for each though.PuMa said:R/G/W is the best combination in the Alara set. They kept some good things for this version, but it is a bit dissected, unfortunately. Being able to drop a 5/4 (Wooly Thoctar) on turn three is just devastating.

Strider2K99 said:When you think flying creatures, you don't think green. Hell, green has cards specifically to deal with fliers.
You'll take your Giant Spider and you'll like it mister!DestinRL said:Not in this game it doesnt. Thats why I'm like "WTF!"
zoukka said:Are the full decklists to be seen anywhere? I can't buy this game (unless it hits PSN), but I'm very curious nonetheless.
Gatherer is good for looking up cards, but Essential Magic is the place to look up decks, combos and general strategy.soldat7 said:BTW, are there any encyclopedic Magic sites out there that would have pictures and descriptions of all Magic cards?
DLC's up already? Is there a card listing anywhere?FFChris said:Also, you can buy additional DLC cards for the green and white decks now for 240p each pack. I was very tempted to get the white pack. :lol

riskVSreward said:I think I'll pick this up tonight, I actually like the idea of unlocking cards because if I'm gonna play Magic against AI, there needs to be some sort of incentive. Can someone tell me if when you unlock a card you get 1 or 4 copies?

ps i also like that they've already patched the discard bug. in most xbla games that one would just stay there forever, much less be patched within the first few days

Did some Local Co-op with my buddy last night. It kind of sucks that he couldn't use any of the decks I unlocked up to that point (at least as far as we could tell). In one match we swung for and dealt 100 points of damage in one turn. From 13 to -87. :lol
IJoel said:I finally got to the last campaign opponent... laughed at the awesomeness of his deck, gave up on beating him with the green deck, and switched to the black one. Promptly beat him. Fun times!
with the green/black deck i got the CPU down to -177
zoukka said:Wow the first green deck is garbage.
That's literally exactly the point.NovemberMike said:The thing I hate is that I have decks in my possession that would pound a lot of these into the ground, but I have to use these decks. A lot of them are just so weak...
Yeah, the system is simple but fun and addictive. Would have been interesting if they had made you beat the campaign with each person to get all the cards, but people probably would have thrown controllers with certain decks.Cheech said:Played this game for 3 hours tonight, even though I have an untouched copy of Red Faction just sitting right there. Man, is this thing addictive. I want to keep unlocking cards, because they're all sweet compared to the stuff in the "base" deck.

jedimike said:Yep. Nobody wants to play assclowns with $200 decks. There is a lot of fun in playing when everyone is on (theoretically) level ground.
I have a good sized library of cards in MTGO, but on occasion I would actually log-out and play the trial game because it was fun to play with people who had decks of similar strength.
NovemberMike said:When I said that, I meant that I could probably do pauper decks (no uncommons, no rares) that are better than these decks. Buying expensive cards isn't the issue. Hell, I've drafted better decks than these.
The red deck should be 60 cards. 20 mountains, 12 1 drops, 12 2 drops, 8 3 drops, 6 4 drops and a dragon type creature or two at a higher cost. Give or take a few cards on each. It doesn't matter if they aren't the best creature/spell in each slot, its just important that you have a curve that allows you to be consistently playing threats.
These decks are just filled with random crap, and that means that the game relies a lot more on luck. The high cost green creatures, for example, have no real plan behind them. You just hope that you are still alive by the time seven mana comes up. Any decent sligh deck (which is really a budget archetype) should be able to win by turn 5-6 if you are getting an inordinate amount of lands, so that doesn't really work if red were able to do what red is supposed to do (attack quickly with reasonably powered creatures).
