Especially if you have a giant growth or two as well. :D

That's a potential 9 or 12 points of damage on turn 4 following up at least 5 points on turn 3.

I've been playing this game like a week straight now. I really like it, though it's nothing ultra amazing, it was just perfect for me. I had been thinking about getting back in to Magic for a while now (have all my cards), but I haven't put forth the effort. Something about this game just made me download the trial and then insta purchase. <3 it. Just wish I had some people to play co-op with. Everyone around here is like "man that's lame".. :-/

But really, love it. I know it's limited and I complain myself about some of the limitations, but for what it is an the price it was, and the timing of the release, I can't beat this..

I disagree with both of you... I'm sure these decks were playtested to death to make sure they had proper balance. They are certainly not randomly thrown together.

The platinum angel isn't in any of the decks except for the final challenge and the final campaign. AFAIK, it's not in any of the playable decks.

The decks are true to the game of magic... white fliers, green creatures, blue control, etc. The green isn't filled with expensive creatures. Bears and elephants are a bargain, throw on a blanchwood armor and you have quite the attacking bear on turn 3.

I really wish the green deck had Llanowar Elves or whatever is the latest these days. It really needs the mana acceleration.

The decks are all comparably shitty. There's something called card advantage in magic. The player that is able to use more cards for more effects generally wins. When you put that blanchwood armor on that grizzly bear, you just set yourself up for a two for one trade, either with a terror effect or a deathtouch, and blue can bounce your bear so you lose both tempo and the armor.

Green, red and possibly white seem the worst to me. Green has a bunch of big guys without any mana ramp so you can play them turn 4-5, red is just a pile of creatures and spells without any thought to the mana curve and white seems to try to make up for its shortcomings with lifegain, which doesn't win games. The BG elves deck is decent because it actually has some synergies, and the Blue and Black decks both have a plan, but G,R and W are just piles.

Boohiss! I was winning that four player game and host dropped? Does it change around hosts when players lose or did the one guy who died drop and kill the whole game?

so can you build your own deck in this?

I'm not a fan of pre-built decks
This really should be bannable at this point.

Some decks just seem to have too many high mana cards and not enough 1-3 mana cards. It's even worse when you get to unlock an additional card and it's one of those 7-8 mana creatures.

I dominated both a 4-player and 3-player ranked game (of the "own the host" variety) last night, and got a "Host quit" for my efforts. Why are some people sore losers? When I get destroyed, I take the loss and move on. Frustrating to say the least.

this game is so much fun! I love it! I have a question though, can a creture with summoning sickness be used for blocking?

seems so, it's really fucking annoying playing this game online when people quit. Seems like I'm the only one who stays til the bitter end when I play. :lol

Any help vs the G/B Deck for the seccond time. ?

My suggestion is to either pre-lube your butthole and BOHICA, or fight fire with fire and use the G/B deck.

Seriously, it's WAY too good. I was using G/B against a mono green deck and there was a creature stand off. Eventually, I had around 20 elves, counting a shit ton of 1/1 elf tokens), that were actually 2/2 due to the elf ability. Then I played coat of arms which made all my elves power and toughness somewhere around 20/20. I attacked for fucking 337 damage in one turn.

Is there a way to see your win/loss record? Seems obvious that they would have it, but I sure as hell can't find it.

Unfortunately, we are quite the minority it seems. Out of 9 games last night, 5 were quit-droppers. Of those that did follow through, fine conversations were had and private rematches scheduled. :)

Some nice folks out there, too bad they are few and far between.

I don't think there is an option to display it. Keep a pen and paper handy perhaps? :lol

Yeah I'm kind of avoiding playing online because the first time I started game, the jerk dropped immediately when I was about to totally rock him. :-/

I don't want to bother playing through the match and have that crap happen. Just no fun. . It wasn't even a ranked match! Why would he quit..? :-/

I admit, I have quit before. Being at 3 lands in turn 12 or something is really annoying, and unfortunately it happens. Even more so if your opponent still can't manage to kill you. It gives a loss now so it's all good, right?

My record for damage-dealing came after I ground the Green deck to a standstill and stalled my opponent at one life while using Immaculate Magistrate to pump creatures, Nath to get Elf tokens, and Rhys to gain life.

When Coat of Arms finally landed, I swung with everything to deal 358 damage to my opponent, as Rhys pushed me to 112 life. Unfortunately, my 102/103 Elvish Warrior was blocked.

Kind of irritated..

Was playing against a green deck with this black deck.

Sure, the troll with regen has protection from black spells/abilities, but the Karlupsan card which has protection from "black and blue spells" mentions nothing about abilities, yet can't be the target of black abilities? Kind of pisses me off.. Lost because of that.

I've had good success so far against the G/B deck with the mono-white and especially the mono-black decks. The key, obviously, is to disrupt the early game so that the G/B deck never gets any combos going, as well as removing the key threats from play with cards like pacifism or terror or consume spirit or royal assassin.

Sure, it's heavily reliant on a good starting hand and good draws early, but the same can be said with the G/B deck.

Yeah I played with G/B a lot after I beat the game and although it feels insanely powerful when you get the combos going, it's just as easy to never get going (been on both sides of this). Black can also seriously screw up any G/B gameplan with a couple of racks in play by Turn 4 or 5 after G/B has played a bunch of cheapie cards to prepare for an Elfapalooza that may never come. I'm glad b/c I hate mirror matches.

Well this game just made me look like an asshole. I played my first online game last night and ended up in a 4 player match. Came down to 3 people but I was clearly going to be eliminated after my turn, but when I went to play cards nothing happened. I could move the cursor but couldn't continue or play anything. I waited until my timer ran out and the game just sat there. I guess I was disconnected but I didn't get a message or anything. I hope I didn't ruin the game for the other players.

Luckily, the only times I've frozen up was during CPU battles. The one time things locked up in Ranked was in the lobby waiting for folks to "press X". Still got a nasty tell for it, that was retracted after a brief discussion. Again, nice folks are playing. They are just rare.

Did you try moving the camera with the d-pad? I know that moves things along when that sort of thing happens in single player.

I think I know the freeze you're talking about from single player, usually after you zoom in on a card? I pull the left trigger to pop out of that one, this wasn't that though. Just weird that I didn't get an error message or anything. Oh well.

So I see they've already started rolling out the DLC for useless shit.
160 Allards for new table skins.
When you think about how much new tables would cost IRL, that's actually a pretty great deal.

Are these selectable in the menu or something?

On the main menu there's an option for for 'Downloadable Content'

In the options menu (game settings, etc) you can switch between different table skins.

I just played a white/white mirror ranked match.

What a boring, horrific matchup that is. The other guy quit when it was 40 to 33.

They really need to change it so passive effects all happen at the same time. I played a 2v2 the other day where 3 of us had green in our decks. There were a total of 8 "get 1 life for every green spell cast" artifacts and it takes 3 seconds for each +1hp to go off. That is 24 seconds per cast.

As far as online goes, did they change it so you unlock a new card if your opponent quits out? I don't care about my win/loss record or skill rating. I just want to unlock cards without playing the AI over and over again.

Any help against the last match the Blue/Black artifact deck? Tried the Green Deck, and Tried the Black deck, got him to -6 but he had that stupid Platinum angel.

A bug they need to fix is the one where the AI will cast regen over and over on the same guy until it has no more available mana.

Anyone have any tips for beating the second campaign mission? I keep losing before I can even do 1 point of damage.

I only have Red and Green. I cant do shit with the green and with Red I can only get her down to around 10 or 12 before I die.

I think i destroyed her with the Red deck but i cant remember. With the Red deck use your damage spells on creatures, forget about her flyer birds, and be agresive. Try to start always with Mountain/Raging Goblin on first turn.

With the Green deck its all about putting lands in play. enough to get the 5/4 6/4 creatures and once you have multiples in play hope for an overrun.

Dont worry about doing direct damage or her own life healing spells
