Yup, only now they throw in an extra booster, hence the $2 price bump.TheSeks said:That's not too bad. Around the price of a theme deck, right? At least it was in 2003. It's a 60 card starter deck, right?

Now for the prerelease this weekend! I've had pretty poor luck in sealed for the most part. But it's a core set, so it should be pretty straightforward. Hoping to open new Garruk. He's absurdly powerful.

Look up the event times at your local store, so you know when they're running stuff. The place by me is doing open dueling in the afternoon, yours might as well.TheSeks said:You can't stop by in the afternoon? It has to be this morning?![]()

So you where actually trying to playing the Chandra+Sorin's Vengance combo?The_Technomancer said:Worst. Sealed pool. Ever.
No burn
No lockdown
No counterspells
One bomb spell (Sorin's Vengance) that saved me one game and prolonged a slow death in another.
No blue or red flyers; a couple white griffins and a couple Devouring Beetles and an Vampire Sengir
Three (three) removal spells across three different colors: Oblivion Ring, Plummet, Deathmark
I ended up piloting this red/black aggro thing that hoped to god the opponent didn't draw any answers and fell completely apart when they did. In retrospect I should have thrown in white as well, but my blue and green pools were terrible for Limited
There is a bright point: I got a foil Chandra, which I'm pretty happy about.
Yeah, I was running both Chandra and the Vengance. Unfortunately Chandra got Mana Leaked three different times by two different decks and the best she did for me was ping a few people a few times.Merino said:So you where actually trying to playing the Chandra+Sorin's Vengance combo?
Did you actually manage to get that off once?
Funny that red/black aggro seemed to be such a popular choice btw.
Freaking Doubling chant is useless in sealed and constructed... Stupid card. I pulled that to. Dat Foil Chandra though... *daydream*The_Technomancer said:My rares were:
Birds of Paradise
Sorin's Vengeance
Druidic Satchel
Visions of Beyond
Honor of the Pure
Doubling Chant
foil Chandra
Oh yeah, that Doubling Chant is going straight into a few decks I run. Grabbing a second Essence Warden, Mycoloth, and Sporesower Thallid all at once is going to be fun in my Sap deck.marrec said:Freaking Doubling chant is useless in sealed and constructed... Yeah, used that to deal with a particularly annoying Cudgel Troll by feeding it to my SwarmZaraki_Kenpachi said:I went 2-2 and 3-1 so I got 2 free packs. I misplayed 3 times in a row to go 2-2 and in the first prerelease. I was so pissed, I should have easily won that game making me 3-1. I was destroying that guy. I got mostly shit cards. I got a skinshifter that helped a lot in my first and then a chandra in my second. The rest were meh rares but I got a Gideon in my 2 prize packs so that balances it out I suppose. And act of treason + fling is probably the most satisfying feeling every in limited when you use it on their bomb that they should be wrecking you with.

You can pump the creature you make unblockable with goblin tunneler right?The_Technomancer said:In retrospect I really should have gone W/B/r and just splashed for Chandra, a Fireslinger, and a Goblin Tunneler. Oh well.
Yup. That's why the Tunneler combos so well with the Devouring Swarm. I ended a game that way, by swinging through for five unblockable.Zaraki_Kenpachi said:You can pump the creature you make unblockable with goblin tunneler right?

Sweet! Tell us how it goes.Brettison said:Alright as I posted before I've always wanted to try this shit, but never had a chance. So I took the advice of the thread and got DOTPW 2012 on Steam along with a buddy who's played before. Gonna do the SP, and my vent friend's who have played said they could answer my questions as I go.
Then if I like it I could always graduate to the physical cards later on. Downloading as we speak!
Hm? I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Land cards get put onto the battlefield, and everything else you play for free. In this case the removed from game zone acts as kind of a storage buffer from which the cards immedietly return.ajf009 said:Little confusion here, hoping for some clarification:
So I just ran into a card called Omen Machine, for those who don't know it's an artifact and reads;
"Players don't draw cards.
At the beginning of each players draw step, that player exiles the top card of his or her library. If it's a land card, the player puts it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, the player casts it without paying its mana cost if able."
Now i know exile was introduced to replaced 'remove from game' and what i don't understand is, if you don't have to pay any mana costs, what is an example of when you would not be able to play a card while this artifact is on the field?

Hm, good question. You can still play spells with invalid targets, they just fizzle. I think an opponent could respond to the exile effect with something like Silence, but I'm not sure.ajf009 said:Yes but the last part of the card says "player casts it if able", what i'm asking is does anyone know of a situation in which a player wouldnt be able to play a card
