I snap buy playsets if I don't have them and I think they're gonna spike.I don't really snap buy playsets, usually just grab a singleton if I don't have it unless I know it's in a deck I've been following or an archetype I really enjoy. Is it generally better to just dive in for four ofs? What do you guys do?

I mean, it makes sense that Olive's jumping in on Zur, because he's a tutor that is a creature,Olive's up to 3 Zurs. They're super cheap right now, grab a set.
Can confirm, drawing all Three Big Thalia's is not great in Hatebears, and even then at least she's relatively middle of the curve whereas Zur is relative top endThat's why Zur is a 3-of too, you don't want to draw more than two a game if at all.
Im going to fnm tommorow. Dont remember the last one i did now. 3 or 4 sets back.
Went to my prerelease of 43 poeple. Got 8th and 13 packs.
Think im gunna open them up now.
Modern Nexus posted this article a few days ago that I think proposes an interesting theory on why Jund has basically vanished from the Modern Scene. While the site has been less consistent in their content since the sale, I do think that that the underlying theory(Eldrazi Tron being brutal for Jund to beat) is worth considering for where Jund went and why Shadow is now the "fair" deck.
If a calculation that would determine the result of an effect yields a negative number, zero is used instead, unless that effect sets a player's life total to a specific value, doubles a player's life total, sets a creature's power or toughness to a specific value, or otherwise modifies a creature's power or toughness.

What's the entry fee/prize distribution like? 13 packs for 8th out of 43 is a lot. I came 1st out of 39 and only got 8 packs - my LGS does pretty flat distributions for prereleases, with everybody getting at least one pack.
That is a weird ass interaction w/ combat damage.

Yes. Very.has prowess ever been good in this game?
This is as far as I got on the Fraying Sanity deck
Thoughts?
Umm....so apparently the Nicol Bolas statue from Prime 1 Studio was showcased at Wonderfest (figure convention) in Japan back in February! Like, more than 5 months ago. And not a single peep on Reddit or MTGSalvation.

I can't believe how slept the community was on this, smh. And someone posted more pics of Ajani, but they used Photobucket so all the images are dead. I'll see if I can find those for you guys.
The deck has already evolved way past that, I'll post a new list laterI'd play Fraying Sanity and Startled Awake and fill the rest of the deck with control cards, not mill. Maybe go red for Hour of Devastation and Goblin Deep-Dweller to recast Startled Awake (and Hour) without having to rely on a 1/1 Persistent Nightmare. Oh, and Cathartic Reunion. You just need to activate the combo twice to win. Watchers of the Dead seems bad, not sure about Manic Scribe either
This set has a pretty obvious Grixis slant. Bolas, the Gods, the Modular cards. It makes sense that people would at least try it out early in the format, even if it doesn't end up being a real deck.i don't get why pros are making so many grixis control lists right now. just to sell copies of nicol bolas?
she actually makes an empty board.I can see UR control playing 1 or 2 Bolas as the top end. Resolving it in an empty or almost empty board is incredibly hard to beat.
of the grixis slant among commons and uncommons the UR cards outclass the black cards once again. The gods have to contest with gearhulks first and gearhulks come out on top with that. This set has a pretty obvious Grixis slant. Bolas, the Gods, the Modular cards. Hour of Devastation Survey: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/hour-devastation-survey-2017-07-14
Thank you for your interest, but we have reached our quota for completed surveys.
I'm wondering if it's a bug. The survey only just went up.
They're running survey sampling size like their MTGO dailies results. This method will produce more diversity in opinions on the new set.
Typically, they'll ask for demographic information, then let you know if they already have enough data from that segment. This is the entire survey being closed less than a half hour after it went up. I can't imagine that they've gotten enough data in such a short time frame. They're running survey sampling size like their MTGO dailies results. is there still no mtg event being streamed this weekend?
Starcity streams a Standard open.
As noted here, this more generally means that creatures that boost others equal to their power can no longer give negative P/T. No more Grasp of Darkness Wrath!ayyyyyyyyy death's shadow nerf
Death's Shadow is affected by a rules change in HOU.
Here's the old version of 107.1b (edited for brevity, because it's a bunch of text):
