Magic: the Gathering - Shadows over Innistrad |OT| Blue's Clues

Welp, missed that. Still don't think that Brood Monitor is where the deck wants to be, as it's a shitty card by itself that isn't a slam win with just one other piece(See Twin, because Pestermite/Exarch are not good cards by themselves.) Even the worst card in Anafenza Company's combos still gives you sac stuff. The combo needs 6 Mana to work and requires zero interaction from your opponent, and I'm fairly certain that's not likely even in Standard.

Generating mana is not a problem this deck has. I've been killed on turn 5 a couple times, I've cast all three pieces on the same turn myself thanks to Rite. It basically demands you have an answer and the mana to cast it at any second. That's not easy for a lot of decks to do.

Oddly enough, this exact mechanic has never been printed on a creature (every example has some other funky cost or something associated with it.) The closest it gets is Forced Adaptation.

I'm choking :(

2-0 to start league

then went 0-2, both times starting 1-0 and then losing to drawing these extremely slow hands.

Yep deciding match, 1-0 then opponent's hand has 3 copies of Dromoka's Revenge

I might have to start grinding on MTGO or something, god save my soul.

I decided nobody wanted to read about my cockatrice complaints, but I'm now 5 for 5 on rooms called "2/3 competitive" where people rage quit well before the match is over. I try to be as helpful and polite as possible, and it doesn't bother me when my opponents mess something up. But I just want to finish my matches so I can adjust my lists.

I don't know if new formats are bringing out the less driven players or what. But I'm really starting to lose my patience with this program.

If I keep making lobbies my only posts in this thread are going to be stuff like this so this is my last one. Sorry about all the bitching, I know it's unsightly.

I just went 0-3 in the most tilting way possible, like I would almost believe my opponent was cheating the number of insane answers he topdecked every single turn.

The whitelist is real.

You can get banned from MTGO for being a dick, also

I think it's my fault for not idling on trice more

Well, lets see how far all my cockatrice practice takes me in this 8-4:

edit: aaand I'm out round 1. Mirror match, mulliganed and my opponent played tireless tracker and drew 5 more cards than me.
Cockatrice rant
I pretty much only play cube and draft on Cockatrice now, people generally want to play the deck they just drafted for at least a match.

I'm down to play Modern, Legacy, or Vintage whenever, I'm just not interested in Standard right now.

Got some Legacy games in with my brother the other day, Nic-fit is my kind of deck. Veteran Explorer is awesome and dropping a Dragonlord Dromoka against Delver is wonderful.

I will say that the older the format you get the better the player base gets on cockatrice. Very rarely do I have issues with people when I play Legacy unless I play Reanimator.

edit - hashtag getting there:

Gavony township is a heck of a card and Leyline as sideboard tech destroys Abzan Company.
Had a long game where my opponent decided to play it out after I stabilized at 4 life. I had to remove every creature but his wall of roots who had grown to be eldrazi sized. Baby Jace did wonders that game as a 1 of, can't recommend it more.

In a game recently I've seen my favourite usage of Nahiri and EWitness loop. -8 Get EWitness, regrow Nahiri, play Nahiri, +2

I put 12 counterspells in my deck after sideboard and have drawn 0 counterspells on a keep of 7 through Turn 8.
Every time someone says leyline I assume it's sanctity so I had to read your post a couple of times to figure out what you were talking about.
Sorry didn't remember the name and was too lazy to look it up. It just stops the combo, persist and any EWitness loops. And it's onesided, only stops Kalitas sadly.

I can't complain about this friendly sealed open. I wonder if I went the right way with the primary deck choice. Won one match already.

Thoughts?

I'm working on a Project, a YouTube Magic Show. I want to create something that entertains and educates as well as is unique in the Magic YouTube space.

If any of you guys want to assist, with like graphics or whatnot, let me know.

So ideally my deck should look like the one on the left, but with the cards I have it'll be the one on the right. Hopefully it doesn't hurt me too much at this weekend's PPTQ.

I decided to try one with the new set the other day, saw my pool and started laughing and dropped. Great use of 28 tickets. Why yes I would love 3 of my rares to be Shadowlands in random colors!

So against my better judgment I gave it a try. Deck is horrible, but I won anyways because I went

T1: Land
T2 Land Heir of Falkenrath
T3, Land, Neglected Heirloom, Equip, Transform Heir, cast Fiery Temper on your guy

Magic Story - The Lunarch Inquisition
* Thalia is mad at Odric for allowing Ulmach, Chief Inquisitor, to go around burning children at the stake. Odric says they have to appease the angels by purging humanity's sins, and he doesn't know if Ulmach is burning children, but if he is, he must have a good reason.
* Thalia wonders if Avacyn was corrupted by her time in the Helvault, and says she's no better than the demons. This angers Odric, and he has her escorted out.
* Thalia decides to fight the angels herself.
* Weeks later, Odric is at a meeting and is disgusted by the inquisitor reports, but notices that while many shared his discomfort, many were visibly excited by the gruesome details.
* Thalia barges into the meeting and accuses Bishop Jerren of not just worshiping the demon Ormendahl, but being the leader of the Skirsdag cult.
* She produces a letter from Jerren retrieved from a witch, but it is declared a forgery without anyone looking at it, and the entire council turns against Thalia. She is arrested.
* Odric breaks Thalia out with the help of another cathar named Grete. They are surrounded by eight other cathars, many former students of Odric. The three are forced to kill them all, and they leave.
* They head to Thalia's base. Her organization is called the Order of Saint Traft, and the ghost of Saint Traft appears before them.

Decent enough story.

Oh yeah. I'm sure some old will come in with a better span, but I'm struggling to think about how the removal could have ever been better than it is right now. I mean, was Path and Bolt ever in the same standard? I dunno.

I remember back when they used to randomly hose black removal to not let you remove other black creatures. Good times.

As I guessed before, sounds like Thalia (and possibly Saint Traft) are going to be mythics in EDM.

Yeah, this explains a lot about why a G/W go-wide deck is so good right now.

Watching BBD's/Reid video on ChannelFireBall was what lead me to think of the current removal suite. BBD was on GW and Reid is on Seasons Past. There is one match where Reid was recurring infinite removal and GW was still keeping up mostly. Without Seasons Past, even with all the removal, GW tokens is super doubleplus good.

Imagine if they had reprinted Intangible Virtue?

(I doubt they would have, I think it got legit banned in block constructed)

Yeah, I ended up switching my list yet again, this time for the BWC list that went 15-0 during GP Toronto, specifically because the only way to beat the token list, is to rip the planeswalkers out of their deck before they play them while also getting a creature on board to eat tokens. Wraths and kill-anything's with Anguished Unmaking probably makes it a 45-55 matchup in their favor.

Eh. That suite is a distant second to what we have right now. Besides, if we're adding in discard and counters, we get to add in those with the current removal list. That UW deck was super sweet though.

Bile Blight would be busted right now. I'd love it.

HeebyGB's Standard top 5 power rankings:

 1. Collected Company
 2. Declaration in Stone
 3. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet
 4. Secure the Wastes
 5. Thought-Knot Seer
Honorable mention to Dragonlord Silumgar for being the best card in Standard that doesn't have the best home quite yet.
