One thing that confuses me is Cranberry asking Fav about what happens when they lose their magic. By now it's established that the two are working together, probably have been for some time, and that Cranberry almost certainly knows the mechanics involved. So why did she ask if she should know? If it was in a public forum to make sure the others knew and were more willing to fight to the death that would be one thing, but she asked when there wasn't anyone else around, and guessing that Winterprison would trawl through the archives and find that conversation is implausible.

Given her demeanor in that scene, I'd say she left that chat log there intentionally so it'd be found. She didn't necessarily know it'd be Winterprison checking the chat logs, but its always possible somebody would. Also, unless that was a really really old chat log from when she first found out herself, she doesn't even need to be in the chat in order to talk to freely with Fav.
Regarding Cranberry, watch the cold opening to episode 1 again knowing what you know now.

If you listen closely, you can hear that it was Swim Swim that picked it up. Though why no one is using it at the moment is another question.

God damn it, you need to die already, Swim Swim. Seriously. Hardgore Alice's backstory was heart-breaking enough, seeing Swim Swim mercilessly hunt her down and brutally kill her...I just can't...
The final four will probably be Snow White, Ripple, Swim Swim (Snow White and Ripple need their revenge, after all), and maybe Cranberry. I can see Swim Swim probably sacrificing Tama to get at Cranberry, but still not being successful.
I kind of had a feeling that this episode would be depressing, and it was. I don't know why I watch shows like this, it never treats me well. I need to lie down.

Yeah, your right. I did mistake that completely. I hope this death sends Snow White into action. That is 2 people who had no desire for killing anyone and only sought to protect Snow White that has died.
I really am annoyed at Alice's death, like come on. They kill off all the interesting characters.. This HAS to be the one that has Snow White break down. She must realize she can't sit down forever.
from what I've heard, this is definitely her breaking point. She's a much different character after this, going forward

How will Snow White fight back though? She has no offensive weapons at all and can only sense those that are in danger/need help. She is horrible underpowered whereas Swim Swim is super OP and straight ridiculous to have an 8 year old act like a stone cold killer with a great brain to think things through.....

It's still not super clear on whether she was from the magic world or not. Cranberry's sound manipulation is a lot stronger than I thought. Wow, did Tama just dig through Cranberry's body? So much for her being useless. In hindsight I probably should've taken the episode title to mean Cranberry would lose, meaning Fav would need time to get things ready with a new master. I'd say screw Swim, but we already knew that. Extended flashback for someone who just died. Sure, why not. I knew I was right in liking Ruler. Swim Swim is a terrible master for this sort of thing. Must me why Fav seems intent on getting Ripple to kill her. My guess is that Ripple kills Swim, then dies from injuries or commits suicide or whatever, but my track record for for this show has been abysmal, so my predictions don't mean anything.

It was super obvious Cranberry would die at the cold open, but I gotta admit, I had no idea Tama's whole digging would be used for that. Kinda funny that she ended up killing the strongest magical girl.
As soon as Swim woke up, I knew what was going to happen. ;_; I was hoping poor Tama would struggle across the finish line with a couple other girls. I think I'm on board the "Fuck Swim Swim" train at this point, goddamn.

Well, her ability makes it where she hear people's thoughts while they are in trouble right? She was able to hear Tama's thought despite her not being "in trouble", so if this is the case, doesn't that mean she can listen to the thoughts while in combat making it where she knows what they will do next? While not powerful magic in terms of raw power like Swim-Swim and Alice, it can make up for it a bit if she is smart enough.
I am not sure how they will deal with Swim-Swim though, even if her weakness is sound and light. I mean what can they possible use? Would electricity work?
Cranberry have to be from the magic world, she didn't revert back to a normal form when she died. All in all, I guess I am not like everyone else, I don't hate Swim-Swim. She, just like everyone else has and is being manipulated, only issue about her is how she doesn't hesitate in her actions. I am still going to be sad for her if she ends up dying, just like I will be sad if Ripple ended up dying. I am assuming Snow White will intervene in their fight. I am surprised how she seemed to gloss over the fact Fav just said Swim-Swim killed Alice (on top of the many other deaths he mentioned).
I like how they show the effect the deaths are having on the characters, though I really wish there was more substance.
Jeez Tama being beheaded and THEN her back story being shown was cruel. She was too pure for all that. Ruler caring for her too was really hard to watch. Her death hit me the hardest I think.
Also Cranberry's death was super gruesome, what a cool use of Tama's power. I hate that she had to be put in a position to use it like that though.

Maybe it's because I instinctively compare him yo Kyubey, but Fav is really scary when you think about it. He seems to be an AI or something that's capable of boredom and lying. Kyubey(s?) was manipulative in his withholding of information, but did he ever straight up lie?
Also it seems Cranberry's weakness is that her ability is active and not passive so when she we surprised that SwimSwim was a child she stopped listening and let herself get snuck up on.

I haven't hated an anime character for a while now, more than I do Swim Swim. She keeps killing off characters that I like, and after hearing Tama's back-story (that happened when she was immediately sliced at the neck) was even more heart-breaking. When Tama woke Swim Swim up and started talking about how she was surprised at how young she was, I had a feeling Swim Swim was going to kill her and then it just...happened. No time for me to prepare at all. :/

To be fair, Tama didn't know Swim Swim's plan when she transferred the candies. Swim Swim told her to do it, so she did. When she found out what the transfer resulted in, it was too late for Ruler. Then Tama just attached herself to the new "leader-in-charge", since that's all she had coming from a rough childhood that had no supporting parental figures for her.

I do appreciate how they've made most of the powers actually pretty useful with some creativity. Snow White's mind reading and tracking, Ripple's rain of shards, Cranberry's sonic attack, Tama's touch of death, you could even argue that Swim is doing this because Nemurin pulled an inception on her. The weakest ones might actually be Ruler with her stupidly high constraints and La Pucelle's sword that Cranberry could deflect with her bare hands. Though maybe La Pucelle could be good if she can pull off an Unlimited Blade Works. I guess there's also Sister Nana, but her boosting powers were really vague and only used once, so it's hard to figure out what they can really do.

well the fact that she's a child muddles the water quite a bit, she's still developing, something that looks psychopathic might not actually be the case.
She's very cold and calculating like a psychopath but she doesn't really make any effort to mimick having emotions or normal relationships, it's plainly obvious something is wrong with her, she also clearly has some level of emotional attachment to Ruler. It's not this simple but if you go with the ol socioapths are hot headed and psychopaths are cool and calm then yeah Swim is more a psychopath. But like i said it ain't that simple.
Not really sympathetic towards Tama, for going along with the madness of the most prominent villain team. Finding friends and people she could count on doesn't really excuse what she's been doing. It's tragic, but she also deserved it.
I do like the creative use of powers this show has. Didn't think twice about Tama scratching Cranberry; I just thought "Wow, you're screwed." But then Cranberry exploded and I went, "Oh... right." Neat stuff.

That's probably a symptom of this being based on the first arc of a light novel series. Apparently future arcs are like twice as long so I'd expect them to have more character development. Though i think there's already plenty lost in us not being able to hear all the characters' inner monologs. Apparently there's a lot of insight into Ripple we don't have simply since we never get to hear what she's thinking.

So, how did they kill Cranberry again? Also, where was the other twin? Those deaths just didn't play out well.. Not sure how they plan on closing this out at this point..

Other Twin was pulverized last episode when Cranberry realized she was disguised as a rock in an attempt to flank and crushed it. Cranberry died this episode when she let her guard down, thinking that Tama was useless, only to have Tama put a hole in her body

Crap, now I remember that scene with the twin.. I'll have to watch how Tama killed her again because I'm still not sure how she pulled that off.
She scratched Cranberry's back with her ability to make holes in anything she scratches. It was a surprise attack since Cranberry was apparently surprised that Swim-Swim was a child, putting her guard down enough for Tama to scratch her.
Tama's ability was to create holes out of anything she scratches. She scratched Cranberry across the back, and subsequently made a hole out of her entire top section. Pretty gruesome.

It's not that they changed it so much as they just slowed it down a lot. If she made a hole in her as quickly as she's been shown to make them in the earth it'd make no sense visually.

It's mentioned early on that magical girls heal extremely quickly. Just doesn't extend to fatal wounds like Alice's did

I'm not sure if that's also the case, but they mention that they heal faster while in Magical Girl form. Hence why it would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Alice been able to transform before dying. Would she have healed her wounds? Or would she just be trapped in her Magical Girl body forever since transforming would bring her back to a dying body. It would have been an interesting thing to see play out :/

A decent ending, great in some ways and disappointing in others.
This final episode is basically a set up for future seasons (the world of magic, true magical girls, the truth of the project) and a step up in awesome for Snow white.
I'm really hoping there is a second season. There is enough material to last for a few now and I really enjoyed this series. The characters, powers, music, animation were all fantastic and I look forward to seeing a brand new cast

Not sure why Ripple kept doing a bunch of stuff to Swim until she remembered she had a flash grenade. I guess Mary had some extra supplies lying around that roof? That rabbit's foot seems to have healing properties if it saved Ripple. Snow White's mind reading comes in handy yet again. Ripple does all the hard work yet again. I guess that's about as good an ending one could hope for. Pity Snow White only became cool off-screen after the main story ended.

I didn't think they'd have the balls to kill Swim Swim, so kudos for actually pulling the trigger there. Similarly, I assumed Fav would survive somehow and be the mascot, but I liked how they just stomped him in the end. This whole last episode was actually kinda funny for Fav, so I enjoyed seeing him squirm.
Snow White basically got away with doing nothing, and now she fights terrorists around the world. I feel like the idea that the protag won doing very little is a premise from a comedy series, but whatever.
The use of flashbacks was comical in this show, but I had fun with the season overall. Some fun powers, girls and the uses of those powers. Glad they didn't undo everything, although the fact that a little girl and a pregnant woman died made me wonder if they would.
I'd watch another season, and will read the Light Novel when Yen Press releases it.

I still remember how hilarious it was for the show to spoil the magic power of the girl right before it reveals itself, took all the surprising away from the actions. The flashback are the worst, what's the point of having a surprising death if you going to announce right before hand?

This show was alright and a good entry in the "Battle Royale" genre. I'm not too bothered by it, but it's pretty funny how the main protagonist didn't do anything of note while it was going on, even when she strengthened her resolve at the climax. Basically only ended up in her wanting to become stronger in the epilogue; wonder if that is something relevant to the future of this series.

The Amazon listing specifically says volume 1, so I'm assuming they're committed to the series (or at least trying with the first few). Yen tends to release 3-4 volumes for their different LN series per year, so we should at least get the first few games.
Huh, apparently I was wrong about future arcs being Battle Royale style killing games. There's always a new cast of characters and a lot of deaths, but the genre apparently shifts each time.
Supposedly the next one (Restart) is a VR type thing with murder mystery elements.

Ah, I see. Well, I guess that's not too bad, considering the very possible redundancy a bunch of Battle Royale games would entail (though there would certainly be ways to keep it fresh between them).
