The plane has to be a crash, right? I mean, whether on accident or on purpose, the notion that someone is hiding the plane is just whacky.

It has been nearly two weeks with no sign, what kind of plan would anyone have with such a plane? Wouldn't you think the plan would be to do something with it as soon as possible, because the chances of being found would presumably be great? (even if it has obviously turned out not to be the case).

Always rely on Aussies to do a job right.
I think if they say they've found something then i expect that they have actually found something.
For sure they have found the plane.

Thursday afternoon - so a few hours from now? Man I hope they find something. I mean it would be great if someone were alive obviously but if that's not the case I hope we can find out what happened.

Negative, the plane would have arrived by around now. So we can expect an update soon.

Hopefully they've actually found the plane this time, the whole situation needs some closure to it. Hard to believe they would announce they found "objects related to the aircraft" if they hadn't found actual debris, but this entire ordeal has been anything but typical so far so it wouldn't surprise me..

What makes you say that?

The fact it's coming from the Australian Prime minister's office. Also the fact that there has been an ongoing calamity in announcements, meaning that nobody else wants to fuck up, especially not the Aussie PM.

Obviously it could be nothing again though.

MSNBC just gave a little blurb and went back to their regularly scheduled programing, lol

They said that it's possible that the objects are completely unrelated to the plane, but I guess that is to be inferred from the headline "objects possibly related". However, the fact that they went that one extra step to clarify is a little telling.

So if they find the plane, CNN will do the right thing and apologize for dragging the two pilots names through the mud right?

I know....false hope

I really hope this is it.

The northern corridor/evading radar/hiding in another plane's shadow/landing at a secret destination/to be used at another time nonsense was always way too out-there and tinfoily for me.

Hopefully we can finally put this to bed and the families can finally find some peace.

The announcement was that objects possibly related to the plane had been found. That announcement wouldn't be contradicted if it wasn't the plane.

Well MSNBC claims that Australia or somebody also cautioned that it might be nothing.

Well, it doesn't mean either of them wasn't involved. Can't rule that out until the flight recorders are found.

I think this is it, here's what prime minister, Tony Abbott said,
"New and credible information has come to light in relation to the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 in the southern Indian Ocean,"

"The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has received information based on satellite imagery of objects possibly related to the search,"

"Following specialist analysis of this satellite imagery, two possible objects related to the search have been identified."

The task of locating these objects will be extremely difficult and it may turn out they are not related to the search for MH370,"

The words, especially the ones bolded definitely lead me to believe, that it is the plane. And he wouldn't announce it in parliament if it wasn't anything important.

Interesting, It might have flew to the east, not to the west.

Wasn't there is a talk about South China Sea oil rig worker saw something?

If this turns out to be the plane crashed in the ocean then... The hardest thing to understand will be why the pilots started flying for seven hours towards nowhere in the middle of the ocean.

What? This is where they were searching.

After a certain point, they wouldn't have enough fuel to return to land if someone tried to turn back.

Assuming whomever was in control of the plane, be it a hijacker or whatever, wanted to make sure they'd never be caught that's one way to be sure.

Of course it could have been any reason so wait til the black box is found.

It still might not be deliberate.
The recorders only have like 30 minutes of data. If they died well before it ran out of fuel than we may never know
I think it only has 30 - 60 minutes of audio records, but it will record every other action that occurs in the previous 12 - 24 hours or something like that.

Maybe a series of crazy events happened that lead to a crash.

I'm inwardly hoping that the "objects" related to the search are life rafts carrying survivors.
