what's wrong with escort? that's the first stage i tried, i didn't even knew hwo to switch between fist and bullet and still beat it lol. just don't get it and hit back, boss die with in like 15 min just by constant shooting.

Isn't L1+O heal? Are you talking about the Release Move? I still don't know how to do that properly. I charge all the way up and then... what do I press to release before my aura runs dry? :lol

Pressing L1 + X will turn off the release mode.

Bosses get stronger the more you defeat. That's for sure. Escort blocks everything I throw at it after defeating three bosses.

Oh, you can break the shit out of Escort's shield with a set of Counters. Awesome.

EDIT: Setting Wings to L2 and Camera Reset to R2 makes the control infinitely better. Glad the game has totally customizable controls.

You got the wings? You SHOULD get the wings from Escort of Queendom. Triumphal Square gives you the fist upgrade.

The way the upgrades work:

Foughten Fields: Shield upgrade
Abandoned Library: Lance
Triumphal Square: Fist upgrade (longer combo + Rush)
Escort of Queendom: Wings, Air (hold jump to hover), and jump upgrade (from 3x to 5x)
Forbidden Floor: Sword

Actually spoken dialogue or written dialogue? Spoken, there's only one line, as far as I know. Outside of that, written dialogue is all out of battle, but a lot of the text that you need to know is from explanations for new abilities.

You can spam regular shot to drop the force field.

So came back home and started fighting the foughten fields boss again. I'm stuck. I break down the dude's body parts, keep attempting to drop the dude's force field, but I can't find no opening. The counter only showed up once and I can't do shit. What gives?

Once you know the controls, you'll get used to it.

Using aura attacks and rationing your aura to heal and attack is a really integral part of the game.

Don't forget you can actually end a fist combo with another weapon by pressing any other d-pad direction for a pretty nice combo ender after the first 3 hits, assuming you have the weapon.

And I currently have no clue how to beat the last boss. Anyone who's got that far mind dropping a couple tips?

I tried this out and it looks nice enough and controls pretty smoothly but the stage I tried "queens something" the boss was an insane grind. I was hitting it nonstop with square shots and then aura (L1+square) from the back and it's life would barely drop. After 10+ mins of wailing on it and it still having 50% health left I gave up.

Am I missing something or is the whole game about grinding down bosses for 15 mins+ straight until they finally die?

Did you switch to the fist attack? I was doing 0.00001% damage until I switched.

Is that the one on the airship? Make sure you dash behind it and pummel it with your fists. Press d-pad down to switch. Also, remember you can end 3-hit punch combo strings with another "weapon" by pressing the d-pad after the 3rd hit while still pressing square. But you have to have the weapon to do so.

Heres the combo links I've used so far:
3 hit punch + sword = two hit swinging sword (somewhat AoE)
3 hit punch + lasers = laser barrage on the target
3 hit punch + lance = normal lance thrust

You can also follow up the swinging sword and laser barrage combo ender with a lance thrust.

And just like Mega Man, if you don't use the right weapon, it's gonna take forever to kill the boss.

Do the library stage first, the Lance upgrade makes the game easier.

Pretty much. I think the order of importance for weapons should be this:

1) Library - Lance
2) Foughten Fields - Shield (no damage, plus the lance makes the second part muuuuuuch easier)
3) Escort of the Queendom - Wing, Upgraded Jumping Ability, Air
4)Forbidden Floor - Sword, Upgraded Dash (plus it doesn't make that bitch the last one you have to fight :lol)
5) Triumphal Square - Fist upgrade (even as the last guy, he's still the second easiest boss)

Also, repair yourself as soon as you body break.

thetrin, did you beat the Forbidden Floor yet? Aura combos when she does the sword pillar move work great. Also lance kicks trade very well with her.

This is exactly how I feel. I think that's what breaks my heart about Japanese game companies wanting to mimic Western devs. I love western games, don't get me wrong. Mimicking another country's style to achieve success has never worked, though. Even Tom Hall tried it with Anachronox, and it's just not the same.

Do you have an account? If not, there's a guide in every PSN release thread (or I can walk you through it). From there, you can buy digital points from Play Asia.

EDIT: Btw, the more I play, the more I realize that anyone starting out should play this in the opposite fashion we have. That is to say, play the harder bosses first. Bosses definitely get harder as you beat others, so beating the hard ones early on will make later bosses surmountable.
