EDIT: Btw, the more I play, the more I realize that anyone starting out should play this in the opposite fashion we have. That is to say, play the harder bosses first. Bosses definitely get harder as you beat others, so beating the hard ones early on will make later bosses surmountable.

LOL so true. I had to restart because it was getting nuts. Here's how I went through the second time.

1) Library
2) Wing
3) Forbidden Floor
4) Triumphal Square (which really should've been last because he's so easy in comparison to the rest)
5) Foughten Fields

I still have to beat the last boss, but I think I know what to do now.

As for the Forbidden Floor boss' second phase, my 3 hit punch into the laser barrage combo ender + Aura worked well.

Yay, beat the game! So after you beat the last boss, you unlock free mode where you get to fight all the bosses again as many times as you want to get a better ranking, but with all your equips. The sucky part is that the bosses are as strong as they would be if you picked them last in story mode. :lol

Almost got her to 75% down but when I was trying to heal I think 1600 aura, she came up behind and ganked me to death. X(

It's very old school in its play length. It's very very short, but god damn does the game get hard.

I clocked in about 5 hours altogether, which includes deaths, retries, and all that jazz. Going for S rank in free mode will be another 5 or some odd hours. Great stuff though.

I'm gonna upload some runs in a bit as soon as my laptop stops acting shitty.

It's hard, but in a way that makes you want to beat it, not give up. At this early stage I'd say it's up there for downloadable GOTY, maybe just behind After Burner Climax.
It also has fantastic music.

Finished my second playthrough last night. Here's the results:

So I was messing around in free mode and found out you can do ranked network time attack, so I tried Forbidden Floor... :lol (which I think is harder than the Final boss, tbh).

1st place got 2:30:00 something. Ridiculous. I was happy with my 8 minute score, lol. Anyway, the way to get those scores is by going into Release Mode (holding L1+X). The more of those icons you activate, the stronger you are with both regular and Aura attacks. Insane damage if you can get the hits off.

It's probably still processing, but hope it gives you guys who are stuck a good idea of how to attack it. When I get a better score for the Forbidden Floor, I'll upload it for sure. :lol

The Foughten Fields boss on the other hand is kinda tricky, I don't think it's hard, just that when it brings up the barrier later on, you have to wait for the counter trigger to break the seal temporary.

Anyway to activate that counter on a consistent basis?

Just triangle lance attack the head over and over again. It's the fastest way to bring down it's barrier.

Once you do that, go into release mode to up your attack considerably.

Ugh, any tricks for the Forbidden Floor boss? I feel like there's some gameplay element that I'm not utilizing as bosses are taking way too long to take down, only wittling down their life bar...
edit: Yes it's the last area I have to clear...didn't know they get stronger.

I seriously pity all the people who know some stuff the JP Store has to offer, they genuinely want to play the games, yet are "afraid" to pursue because it's something foreign to them than "go to Gamestop or US/EU PS Store, buy game".

But do continue to miss out on everything the JP Store has to offer and ignore this. I know tons of others will.

Same thing is happening with me. I think they're just not working during Staturdays and Sundays at all. At least it says so about their customer service. Strange, though.

I have Foughten Fields as my last stage, I don't know if it's because it is the last stage, but just trying to wear down the boss doesn't work as it would do a area clearing attack. Looks like the only way to disable the guard is via a counter which is hard to initiate.

edit: never mind, I shouldn't give up with the dive kicks, it does work, just have to stay persistent. Although if you do the counter it automatically disables the guard. So many different ways in beating this boss.

Just charge and release on those floating seals first. Only the can you attack those glowing spots on the boss. Once you do that to all the seals, do the punch + bullet combo with aura that I do in the forbidden floor video. It will wipe out those glowing spots way fast.

Anyone know how to beat the last boss? I'm completely lost on that one.

And I think I may have somehow glitched my game, after one time the game froze on me (probably do some random issue accessing harddrive data, then I properly did a reset on the console), the game won't let me go back to using the female spirit anymore in the story mode. Even though I used the female spirit from the beginning (after you beat all the main stages, character select and free mode become options), even if I try to change back to her, it defaults to the dude regardless of the choice if you select Story Mode.

That or you could only use the guy for the last stage? I dunno, I hope I didn't glitch anything. =/

EDIT: I figured out how to beat the last boss, but the not letting me use the female avatar thing I'm still lost on. =x

Caved in and bought it. Though my first try with this game was a complete failure. Tried two of the bosses (plaza and library) but their health barely goes down with the laser thingy.

Now I read here, that there is also a fist attack... Might give that a try

You don't "need" to use aura to beat bosses, but it does strengthen and speed up you attacks, on top of opening up the chain meter as well when you kill mobs. The Release move (L1+X) strengthens everything and doubles your Aura attacks as well.

I was able to beat the last boss just now, unfortunately I broke my streak of not using any continues, and I had to use all 3 continues on it after so much frustration. X(

I never could figure out why I was forced to use the guy afterward and it wouldn't let me go back to the girl. And I know it's probably not the case, but it seems to me that the guy is less nimble than the girl, and I think the girl has a smaller hitbox compared to the guy due to a smaller character model. Normally it's easier for me to get around with the girl but with the guy it was somewhat more trickier. That or it's all in my head, whatever.

Anyway I'll get around to replaying the story mode for a higher rank later as well as going after the no continues trophy.

So yeah, this is an incredible game, and easily downloadable GOTY.

Now time for me to go back to Vanquish!
