I have a social conscience I guess. If someone's posting that kind of stuff what's to say they're not acting on it? People have received prison sentences for less (that Welsh student who tweeted about Muamba for instance).
I understand, but did you ever go on the thousands of other hate related pages and report them or no? I've already seen dozens and dozens of pages where people are happy and say it's justified.
Those EDL pages are pretty tame compared to the stuff that is on there. Not saying I don't disagree with your stance, pictures like that should be taken down.

No, but it did create a shitload of new anti-Muslim sentiment. Even the main newspaper sites have had to moderate comments or shut them down.
In a way it has reinvigorated the EDL because someone who was already closet racist now feels secure enough to wear a mask and start throwing bottles at cops etc.
The EDL has capitalized on this and it's a bit disheartening how quick people are resorting to racist rhetoric and generalizations.

The attitudes the EDL have aren't limited to the group exclusively but incidents like this, and the publicity the group get with their vocal response, have made them the umbrella of an anti-Muslim narrative in England.
The EDL itself doesn't concern me with respect to what they may do; they're more akin to football hooligans than militants. What does concern me is if their views become more mainstream; if we see xenophobia [towards Muslims] reach the levels they have in the US - I fear what it may trigger from within segments of the Muslim community.
Realistically I don't think it'll get to that point, however.

This would be because you apparently don't know anything about the American legislative system. Here any idiot elected to some small hick district out in the rural south is allowed to propose legislation. That doesn't mean jack shit will ever come of it. It's not at all comparable to your Parliamentary systems where the party leaderships have almost complete control over the agenda.
We have no Front Nationale. We have no UK Independence Party. We do have the Tea Party but even they aren't a racial organization. There is no political arm for xenophobes. I lived in Europe for a year and I saw a lot of casual acceptance of the idea that Muslims are troublemakers. That mentality is not prevalent in our cities. Our Islamic leaders and communities cooperate with the authorities. After the Boston bombings there were no acts of retaliation, no calls for protests like the EDL. If a pair of home grown Islamists blew up a crowd of Brits at a marathon, would you guys take it as well as we did? I don't think you know what you're talking about at all.

Nope. I spend a lot of my free time observing Tea Party stuff for fun, and the whole thing is absolutely packed from the bottom to the top with racists of every stripe. Even more so now that it's started to fade from political relevance - full-on White supremacists all that kind of shit have been slowly moving in.

Gross hyperbole. Netanyahu as the most dangerous person on the planet? He wishes he was. If you're talking about the ability to wield power, then it's Obama. If you're talking about people opposed to civilized Western interests, it's sure not a guy responsible for occupying a tiny desert in the world's asshole.
Who else is capable of provoking a war that puts NATO against Russia/China on a battlefield they care enough about to get involved in?
I do think a war with Iran is the worst thing humans can cause currently and Neocons still seem eager to pursue it despite the Afghanistan/Iraq/Libya disasters. They even successfully pushed for the removal of Iran insurgents, Mojahedin-e-Khalq, from the terrorist list, who previously killed US soldiers, civilians and fought for Saddam. Once they make deals with terrorists the intentions must be tangible.
I think Obama wants to prevent such scenario, at least I'm convinced he luckily has no interests in paying his respects to even more soldier caskets draped in flags. But if Netanyahu really wanted Obama would have to follow, how did he put it again, eternal friendship?
Edit; President Obama says our friendship with Israel is eternal and hails eternal US-Israel alliance with unwavering support. Eternal is such an incredibly stupid word too, nothing is.

Just like in every other thread probably which is to stir the pot or deflect criticism. Just like every thread connected to the Boston bombing had people keep bringing up Timothy McVeigh or the Unabomber or the threads about rape in India had people bring up Steubenville etc. Now people are bringing up this hate crime to show that the reverse happens.
They do have a point though, bother acts were planned murders on the basis of hate. Though I'd categorize the attack on the old man as a random act of hate crime violence and this as a politically motivated attack. The motives were different. These guys wanted the attack to be gruesome, in front of everyone to make a political statement, to create fear and paranoia. The other was some random hate killing by a pathetic worm who stabbed him and ran. No real motive outside of the fact he probably hated Muslims.
I just don't understand humanity sometimes. So full of hate and violence. How can you possibly ever kill someone? Is life worth nothing?
