Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

I would say he's been misused. Lex is to Superman what Joker is to Batman.

Give him proper treatment, make him a genius scientist/politician/philanthropist and let him be the feature villain in the next film. Of course he could have some help from secondary villains (Metallo?), but you NEED to take on the kryptonian alien vs human arc at least once rather then just introducing a bunch of super powered aliens.

And there has only really been one characterization of Lex in film... Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey played pretty much the same characters in the Donnerverse and SR films. I don't want some dumb real estate scheme. I want a powerful and menacing Lex Luthor who has government influence and the people's trust.

Agree that he's been misused. There's a good storyline for a movie where Lex meets Superman, get's his "join me, together we will rule..." offer declined, and decides to develop things to compete with superman (something like Team Luthor, other weaponry). In the meantime, Superman knows Lex is a bad guy but can't pin any criminal activity to him. People around Superman questioning him for going after Lex and shaking his confidence in what he believes etc... Yeah if done right, there could be good stuff there.

But the movies have still had way too much Lex in them. I hope we can get a good couple movies without him, really. There are other major villains to be explored. Also, Lex is a "behind the scenes" villain, which leads to incredibly unexciting fights with his human henchmen or robots. If he's built up as a behind-the-scenes villain for a movie or two before being the main focus I think it'd work much better to show Lex's journey and reset audience expectations for the character.

Amy Adams was just on Leno talking about Man of Steel.

She seems to be a genuine fan but came off a bit odd during the interview. Maybe she was just having a bad night, considering how likable and approachable she usually seems. Also, for those doubting her looks... well, just watch.

I think I'm in love.

It's hilarious that his natural hair actually has like an S curl/wave and they didn't take advantage of it lol Not a big deal, but the irony of it is amusing.

I remember Routh being fitted for S curls and the end one ended up being crappy anyway imo

They just used Brandon's natural hair, actually. If you watch the behind the scenes features they talk about how his hair was perfect and didn't warrant a curl "prop."

Well it ended up looking awful compared to the Reeve one and on the opposite side :\ Considering it was supposed to be the same Supes, another strange thing that bothered me about the whole Routh Supes look. His natural hair also looked darker and better till Singer made it look brown (not sure if that's cause of the way he filmed it). I think even more the fact Routh couldn't even grow side burns annoys me more since it reminds me of Cain's Supe haha.

I'll take the Reeve prop curl. If you're going S curl in your movie, do it right and go all the way or don't do it imo...

I never would have thought curly hair would work so well for a guy playing Superman, but Cavill reminds me of how the Byrne-era version looked. I keep posting this image, but Henry really embodies that version (physically, at least):

the S-curl is so stupid. It's something I wouldn't mind being left out.

Well you got your wish, unless somehow an S-curl just pops up in the final film which I highly doubt.

CG S-curl hah that would be sad

edit- actually all the toy merchandise has no S-curls so yea it's not happening and I don't care cause Routh looked stupid with his.

Just got back from being off away and man, if Superman is going to be tearing apart robots and shit like Fleischer's "The Mechanical Monsters" then MOS could be the best thing ever.

Armored
Superman looks interesting but I wonder if it's just for the toy line or what. Mattel had some of their Movie Masters on display including Superman in a different suit but wouldn't allow photos. Also for some bizarre reason WB is going on a manhunt and having everyone remove that fan art.

I guess somebody in WB actually thinks it's a legit leaked artwork...Ooops.

Anybody seen this before? I heard about it but I don't ever recall seeing the leaked video. Basically some artwork and concept gameplay for a cancelled Superman game Factor 5 were working on:

That armored toy looks like Mon-El >_>

it only works when the hair is right. the original comics version was inspired in part by people like Errol Flynn

Kirk Alyn had the same hair and IIRC Christopher Reeve wore a wig in Superman 1 & 2. In 3 he just had his own hair. Dean Cain also had the correct part but used it as Clark, not Superman. Routh and Cavill's don't part the same way. New 52 Superman is just has uncombed hair because they can't draw it right.

I don't know why we're discussing this, but that's the brief history of Super-spitcurls.

I need this movie NOOOOOOOOOOOW

i don't know, man. "movie to beat this summer" doesn't sound like "hottest shit of all time"

maybe the sequel will be the best part though

He said "superhero movie to beat this summer" didnt he? I think it's pretty high praise. What else is coming out, Iron Man and Thor?

Honestly, after the unimaginable catastrophic shit-stain that was Returns all i want is a good superman movie. It doesn't have to be GOAT

Yeah Man of Steel stands a good chance against that list. It isn't trapped on mass-production like Marvel's movies (yet?) so I hope it focuses on one complete story.

Green Lantern might put Justice League on the backburner, but they can still do a World's Finest movie. They just need real movie writers and not DC editors.

Oh man that fan art isn't up anymore. Does anyone have a link to it?

It's not really "fan art" which is why it's been pulled from real legit sites. Guy messed around with some things, but it's more legit/real... which is why it's so awesome.

I can't help but get a little more hyped over the news of the screening. Hopefully it'll mean Warner Bros. will start marketing the shit out of this starting next month!

Also the MOS Trailer #2 is now the most viewed video on WB's YouTube channel taking over TDKR's final trailer with over 27,444,737 views in only 2 months.

I can't believe it! Superman might have a chance at out-hyping Batman! :o

all the marbles are riding on superman, if the rumors are to be believed if Supes tanks/underwhelms then maybe ..probably no justice league :(. Then The Flash will have to come out and save superhero's ....yet again.

I just noticed in the trailer that around 1:53 mark, Supes collapses to the ground and spits...something out of his mouth. It's a clear liquid but I can't help but wonder if it's actually blood - just digitally re-colored for the trailer, which is something studios have done in the past.

The real Superman movie we deserve.
