Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

I'm still kind of holding out hope that this new trailer uses the Journey to the Line music from the CC trailer. Regardless, I'm pretty pumped to see a new Superman movie that looks like it's going to be great.

Forgot to mention the EW article also mentions Justice League and all that. Seems like MOS will pave the way for their own "Phase 1" and setting the tone and being more "open" to other superheroes mentioned and not "closed off" like Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy which they say is pretty much an isolated different universe from MOS.

They wouldn't drop details on cameos in MOS but Goyer says to keep an eye out....

The dad comes back in the final season?

Clark was having an identity crisis and had a moment where he thought what his father would have told him. It was actually one of the better scenes from the show.

Yea age caught up to him and he became Fatman (well compared to how fit he was before). I really think that also had to do with him not wanting to wear the whole suit.

Now that is a conspiracy theory. I think he was still pretty Supermanly looking in season 10.

Man, Smallville got a ton of things right imo. I'm not a diehard Superman fan like some of you, but still. Papa Kent, Lex Luthor, Clark, and Lois towards the later seasons. Papa Kent in particular. Good shit by Schneider.

Smallville is like a mashup of everything.

Early seasons had that Donner feel, while the last seasons went to straight up comic book fandom.

Look at the actor for Toyman. Spot on casting!

Those really are the best aspects of the show.

Lionel Luther
Probably the best character in the show (from when I was watching) which is surprising considering he was made up just for the show

That was awesome since Lionel Luther was basically a much hardened version of comic Lex Luthor before his ridiculous good guy role.

everything that you're going to see on screen is from the last 30 years of Superman comics. so if anything he's just using the source material and (hopefully) showing the world that there are plentuy of good stories to tell with the character.
I don't doubt there's good stories, it's just Superman has been presented in a terrible way over the last 10-15 years and he's one of the least interesting super heros on paper, and is pretty hard to feel anything for when the guy is basically god. The story Synder is going for sounds fantastic and the type that will get non-comic book readers into Superman.

I loved him in the earlier seasons. Later on he became a caricature of himself. He and lexs relationship was a perfect foil to Clark and pa

but that's what i'm telling, everything that you are hearing I can point to what comic it was in, people not liking Superman all has to do with how he is marketed. there's plenty more to relate to Superman than that NIMBY Batman.

So if this turns out to be really good, how long until we have a Snyder vs Nolan thread discussing how MoS is better than Begins, and debating just how much influence Nolan really had on MoS.

I've been wondering similar things.

If it's good, it's "just a Batman knock off."
If it's bad, "Superman sucks."

This is already set in stone, basically. You can see hints of it in this thread already.

If it's bad, it's Snyder's fault. His bad direction, his "slo-mo" reliance, all the other thoughtless cliches.

If it's good, it's a Nolan movie, period point blank.

That's going to be the narrative, I'm almost certain of it.

Absolutely.

Here's a few with the spoilery ones hidden..
Quote:
Screenwriter, David S. Goyer, reveals to Entertainment Weekly that the children of Krypton (Superman's home planet) are engineered. "People were bred to be warriors or scientists or what-have-you, and there's a whole element in the movie about nature versus nurture," Goyer says. EW adds, "Kal-El is unique because he's a natural conception, free from genetic manipulation to choose his own course in life - which also makes his existence highly illegal."

This is utterly genius!

Nothing will top TDK. ever.

for Nolanistas

Greatly prefer Begins and I know people disagree but i'd put TDKR above TDK.(enjoyment, not quality)
Begins will just be impossible to top, there are only two Batman movies(DTVs) that are actually better.

Im set on expecting a 7.5/8 and slightly under TDK but hoping its better.

It's happening
It wasn't posted here, so here is the news:

MOS FB have cracked the code on ManofSteel.com: the source code is a countdown timer, and if you narrowed it all down, and as confirmed by many others...

THE NEW TRAILER WILL PRIEMERE 6PM PDT/9PM EST ON MONDAY APRIL 15TH!

No what will be talked about how a mediocre director was tranformed into making a good movie and how Nolan influenced a less slo mo direction. Just wait and see..
