The last few volumes of the "will they or won't they?!" was pretty awful to be honest. Even the harem arcs after weren't quite as bad (though they certainly went off the deep end).
im Kishimoto
Is DTL just doing random yaoi reviews now? I never really noticed his posts since everyone has somehow come to the conclusion they need to post large full pages of whatever panels they thought were funny in every single post.
Which is funny since not posting pictures of new chapters is one of the grand 2 guidelines of this thread![]()
Since you are being condescending with I'll bite shit, so listen, when everything revolves around one character, it's a character driven manga.Probably a bad idea, but I'll bite. First, your point about Ichigo driving the plot doesn't work, he's as much a pawn of others as Luffy or Naruto. Wasn't the entire soul society arc set up by Aizen? Sure, Ichigo went to save Rukia, but Aizen was the one who put Rukia in danger in the first place, and later Aizen used Ichigo's entrance into Soul Society as a distraction to further his own purposes. And isn't One Piece basically entirely driven by Luffy's decision to become Pirate King? Isn't that the starting point of the whole series?
But backing up a bit, I'm getting drawn in to your definition of a character driven story, which is frankly pretty weird. It's not whether the character's drive the plot--that's basically every story ever. What makes it "character driven" is that the characters are the most interesting part of the story. I don't really see the characters in Bleach as more complex, or realistic, or interesting than any other shonen battle series. Ichigo is the generic male lead who wants power in order to protect his friends, just like Luffy and Naruto. I barely remember that, at one point, he was guilty over his mother's death, because it's honestly not very important to the story. How do I know that? Because Kubo has spent virtually no time on it, or anything related to Ichigo's personal life, since he first left for Soul Society.
Don't think of this as Bleach bashing. I don't think any mainstream shonen battle series would really qualify as character-driven, and they don't need to. These kind of series are supposed to be about cool superpowers and interesting adventures, not deep psychological portraits. I would say that ATLA makes an attempt (and not an always successful one) to make their characters realistic, relatable, and develop over time, but that's a very different kind of series than Bleach.
Lol. Again you have no idea what you are talking about. The fact that you and other can't see that speak volumes about your lack of analytical skills.Phhh. Beam over analyzes Bleach. You can do the same thing to a ton of other manga/material and still make it seem deep. Keep sugar-coating, Beam. You forget that Kubo's primary goal is to design characters and make them look cool before anything else.
Don't forget that the members of the OP crew have goals of their own.
Also, shout-outs to Orohime and Chad because who the hell are they again?
Except Ichigo was a puzzle in Aizen's plot.
You also seem to forget Luffy's influence in the war of the best. But I bet you tuned that out. Way to be selective.
But it's okay you know, keep doing what you're doing; it's so blatantly obvious that you're mad Bleach gets a ton of shit as opposed to OP.

On the Bleach side you have Ichigo who thinks that he murdered his mother, and lived years blaming himself and feeling guilty. He realized that he did not do it. Then when he obtained his hollow he was afraid of it. He did not want the despair to take over him. He was even to go bankai. his hollow made despair a lot throught the manga. That was very evident after the Ulquiorra fight. Then in the Fullbring arc he was shown loneliness and despair. Ichigo has always wanted to live a normal life, but he realized that he needed power those who are close to him. He accepted that he can never be normal. That's a huge development.
Lol. In case of doubt and don't have anything to counter just mud sling. And the fact that you compared what I said to Naruto shows your lack of analytical skills. And maybe even reading skills. Not sugar-coating? Read this. You just made Bleach sound like Naruto, which defeats the purpose of trying to make it seem cooler than it is.
how is curlyfriski being condescending beam? and lol @ you saying " so listen junior" like it means shit, cmon man. ive been reading these bleach vs op arguments and you are the one being condescending most of the time. hell, i dont even read bleach or op anymore.
When Fullmetal Alchemist was ending there was this whole spoiler rucus where it was decided that people should A) Post the title of the manga in bold before spoiler discussion and B) refrain from posting pictures (mostly of new chapters). A is done by almost every poster and B is done by many until lately. But no one really posts spoiler pics of series people care about so its not a big problem currently (at least until Duckroll starts getting spoiled on MagiIs it? All spoilers are fair game. Unless you mean duckroll's decree about linking or providing info about scan sites. Which isn't the same as posting panels. (unless duckroll wants to clarify).

Was never in the OP even in the old threads, so I doubt many current posters know about it.
No, the actual rule was, to my recollection, not to post pictures of unreleased chapters. In any case, its just becoming kind of tedious to just see big jpegs of panel after panel of random series that someone just picked up or finished and instead of explaining its merits, they just show a giant out of context panel (that looks funnier without any set up).
Speaking of Magi, I suppose I'll pick it up after I graduate in a couple of months.
Joke's on you, I already read Itokoi Chidori and Lying Mii-verse when they were all the rage here. I just chose to exercise my right to silence.Upandaway, Wiseblade: Read Itokoi Chidori together, or Sleeping Planet, or Ubel Blatt.
EDIT: Or Lying Mii-kun and Broken Maa-chan
I remember the huge ruckus but I remember the sane portion of mangagaf winning the argument. ;p

Well some references are changed but they still make sense.Just curious, how localized are the translations for Saint Young Men? There was this post from a Vertical editor where he talked about why they can't bring over Saint Young Men and one reason was too many references.

Yep. Tower of God is the other standout.nowhere boy is enjoyable.

If Ichigo was not the catalyst for everything, then why Aizen watched him all of his life? Why did he sent Rukia, when he knew that Ichigo and Kaien looked alike and it will have an influence on Rukia? Instead of sending Byakuya to reclaim Rukia, Aizen could have sent Soi Fong and killed Ichigo. Except the fact that Ichigo's role was much bigger. Why the vizards fought besides Soul Society? Who lured Ginjou out. Etc.....
The characters unique personalies are the most interesting part of Bleach. Everything revolve around these characters. Everything.
You say characters in Avatar develop as if Bleach characters did not show any development.
Ichigo is not a generic character because he does not want to be pirate king or hokage. He just want to live his life like any normal person at least until he realized that he can't protect the ones who he loves without having powers. Show any other main battle Shonen manga with the same traits, that the main character does not want to be the biggest baddest find someone etc....
Do I really need to bring out character quotes AGAIN to show the difference between those 3 manga, and the depth of these of these quotes?
The quotes alone in Bleach have much more depth compared to the other 2 and bordering on philosophical, like Aizen's god quote, or Mayuri's perfection quote.
Anywho
Lol. Again you have no idea what you are talking about. The fact that you and other can't see that speak volumes about your lack of analytical skills.
1- Luffy did not influence shit in the war. Not outcome not anything.
2- Aizen watched Ichigo all of his life. And played him for his own interest. If Ichigo did not drive the plot, then Aizen would not and everyone else would not be interested in Ichigo.
3- it's because that the vizards fought beside the shinigami, and now some of them joined back. It's because of Ichigo that Aizen completed the Hougyoko. It's because of Ichigo that Aizen was defeated. It's because of Ichigo that they lured Ginjou. It's because of Ichigo that Orihime and Chad have their power. Every single event in the manga directly or indirectly have been influenced or driven by Ichigo.
I am not over analyzing anything. And no you can't do that with every manga. When you say these kind of things, it just proves that you have 0 analytical skills. That's probably why you like one piece so much. You need everything explained to you or else you would be lost and would not know what to say about the manga. It's cool though now that it's confirmed to me that you don't know what you are talking about, I should probably let your ignorance unanswered.
Good story too.
Which makes me even angrier that the franchise is being abandoned by Capcom V_V
Hey man, I crop to panels!
I need something intresting to read does anyone have any suggestions?
Im caught up on OP,Berserk and Ippo. Naruto and Bleach arnt worth reading anymore for me. I do need to go back and catch up with Soul Eater ,Hunter X Hunter and Beelzbub
Something that is complete would be good like Lost boys (I think that was the name? set in the past-present and future)

Whats the one with Natsu the dragon kid? I read loads of that but again after awhile I just thought jesus they just repeat everything everytime a new villan shows up.
Think I dropped that when they went to some test island..
The first part is really old so it could put you off, but it does get more modernized as it goes on, and yeah the parts are their own stories/characters. It's still better to read them in order, but if you really dislike the first part, just read a synopsis and then read Part 3. If you like that, go on (and backtrack to Part 2), otherwise just drop it then.I tried to read the first one but it was abit out there for me. It changes from each arc type thing right? Like new main characters or am I thinking of something else. If so maybe thats wasnt the best place to start.
Monster and 20th Century Boys are safe bets then if you didn't read them yet, they're from the same author.Pluto! that was the other one! that was damn good. Stuff like that I guess?

Fairy Tail is the one with Natsu as protagonist and it is not really woth picking up again if you didn't like what you have read.
Yeah, you could just read that. It doesn't have anything to do with the previous 6 parts.Well Jojos steel ball run is a stand alone one arc right? Is that worth a look?
Aw yeah! The best josei manga in the fuckin world is being translated again!
Satanister
I never trusted those milkmen! Was only a matter of time before one poisoned it.
This tournament is going to be so damn awesome. So many crazy murders each with their own theme. It's like Suda51 mixed with a grindhouse film. Can't wait.
