Sakazaki really trusts people too easily. He didn't even investigate Kaiji or try to test him to see if he is a trustworthy guy. Just saw him being badass at scaring off some kids and asked him to be his partner. Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess.
One noticeable difference from the anime is that the Bog looks way smaller. I'm pretty sure the anime version Bog was much bigger and the trays with the balls were also much bigger. Then again, that one doesn't top the ridiculous live action film version.
Poor Sakazaki getting played like a fool for an entire volume. He never stood a chance at winning yet that glimmer of hope when the last ball went in made it more sad knowing he won't win. He kept fighting and having hope until his final moments. He really does trust people too much. First hoping that Kaiji wouldn't rat him out and also trusting that friend at the casino which obviously backstabbed him leading to the plan's failure
