I'd heard good things about this on gamefaqs anime/manga ot board but it actually lived up to it. The world and main characters are all really interesting kinda reminds me of Desert Punk with a far more likeable protagonist.

Yeah, the anime is the same way. The jokes solely about fudanshi life or BL fantasizing are usually pretty good but the stuff that's just regular slice of life is bad.

I generally have a total aversion to shonen. Nisekoi and Foodwars are probably the first shonen jump properties that I have not run a mile from.
Which is why I frequently gripe about not being able to easily get non shonen magazines translated like you can wsj.

i've no idea how a dude can be about that life for so long and still manage to fuck up proportions and cloth so grotesquely. In several panels you see dudes of somewhat similar height. Comes the next panel, the angle changed and now one dude is made outta legs and the other is a midget, and both have exactly the same torso size.
When he's tracing some rad triceps shot, stuff works. When he's doing anime HIGH ACTION shit, stuff works. When he jut has to draw dudes with regular clothes in regular poses? Stuff falls apart grotesquely. Dude's art style reminds me of Tradd Moore, with characters being muscled to the point of appearing to be made outta cables, but... the talent just aint there.
Plus fat faces errywhere.
Still, a dude gets his hand cut off and uses the stump to cave someone's skull in. that counts for something.

ok, apparently i got mixed up somewhere and was reading New Grappler Baki every time i tried to start this thing. Found the original and.... well, the art isn't good, obviously, but...
it's better than the art the dude was putting out 30 volumes later.
Not as far as level of detail is concerned, obviously, but that's the thing: excessive detail does not good art make. The original baki books have a far, far cleaner style, which more easily morphs into the cartoonish faces that the author chooses to depict every once in a while.
this appears to be one of those rare books where the author was allowed to grow pretty much unchecked, and his craft suffered for it. Fascinating, really.

Yuri is art, art is yuri. Feared the worst after seeing the author, but this turned out to be an inoffensive short about a girl with an unnatural fixation on her paintings' subjects. Artistic themes aren't really my cup of nectar, but it had slightly more substance than your usual yuri one-shot, and was a worthwhile read overall.
