Hey, MangaGAF. Long time, no see (except for all of you I chat with!)

Series that almost made you quit manga?
None so far thankfully
This is super interesting indeed.Hopefully it can be of interest to other folks~
Make sure you keep the original this time, it'll be worth thousands one day.elyetis posted after i started counting but the results somehow stayed the same
It is THE go to manga for staple shounen. Everybody who's into shounen should read it at least once, despite their later verdict on the series. While it's true that FMA is good, it's not the best. FMA perhaps one of the fewer case of where the part is better than the sum. The battle choreography is great, the overall storyline is good, the tone being pretty consistent all around even with comedy here and there, and the pacing is just right. But in the end it doesn't gives much impression than a manga of its quality should be. There's a coherent underneath the story, but the epilogue doesn't wrapped all the conflict with those said themes.Yo, is FullMetal Alchemist any good? Is it worth reading?
You put it better than me. FMA main failing that is.It's a pretty good manga that suffers somewhat from being too stuck to the main characters after it transitions from a small personal story to a world focused story.
I started reading Golden Kamuy because all y'all talk about it but I was suddenly struck by the fact that this may be the only manga I've ever read that actually mentions, let alone has as characters, Ainu people.
I know it's not surprising considering Japan's general treatment of the Ainu but what other manga actually mentions them? What high school manga has ever had an Ainu student? Or an Ainu character? I think Native Americans get more representation in manga than Ainu people.
If DTL is permed, I guess I need to take his place in posting hardcore BL posts. Hope I'm up to the challenge!
Bonus - Manga you should read so you can be that cool guy who liked it before it became an anime
Golden Kamui
Dungeon Meshi
Kaguya Wants To Be Confessed To
Tokyo Ghoul;Re
I Am A Hero (maybe someday)
Konodori
You still have a few weeks before March Comes In Like a Lion
Hey, this seems fun!
Zweizer list
Hopefully it can be of interest to other folks~
Pleasantly surprised by the amount of Doraemon as answer to the first manga read question.
If i had to take a guess everyone who answered with that is from an Asian country, am i right?
Amazing!
Pretty sure the ishvalan's in FMA were also based heavily on the Ainu, though that's a fantasy equivalent type of thing(splitting the post for easier reply)

There's Ainu characters during Hachiken's ancestor flashback chapter (IIRC Hachiken too have Ainu blood in him). Not surprising if Arakawa also have some Ainu blood in her.
Outside manga, Toukiden feature a lot of Ainu historical figure that most of the time clashed with the Japanese people. Surprisingly the description of them sounds honest and KT doesn't try to masked the Japanese atrocity towards the related figure.
It's more like that the predecessors dismantled All for One's empire over the decades, and All Might thought he was the one to finally kill him.Though I have to say, the backstory at play seems supremely silly, the way it was told and implied that All for One really ruled all of Japan until 5 years ago when All Might finally beat him. Surely his "evil" rule should have left more of a mark on society and people's memories that is the case.

Yeah, me too. But it wasn't a single collapse with All for One's defeat, it was a long prolonged war between the users of One for All and All for One.I see it more like a Yakuza style organized crime empire that works in the shadows but has ties to all the major politicians and businesses.
That's normal.Voynich Hotel 01-05
I don't get it.
About All for One, he was in the underground mastermind a long time ago. All Might wasn't the first to stop him, just the latest. He's been a continuing threat that users of One For All has had to stop.Boku no Hero Academia ~50-104
All caught up. I knew more or less All Might's fate but still came away fairly impressed at how his and All for One's clash was handled. It's sort of refreshing to not have this mentor figure guy die. All for One too, as someone who was more interested in Shigaraki's growth then just his own success and well being, came off as a bit more then just standard big bad. Though I have to say, the backstory at play seems supremely silly, the way it was told and implied that All for One really ruled all of Japan until 5 years ago when All Might finally beat him. Surely his "evil" rule should have left more of a mark on society and people's memories that is the case.
Surprisingly enough, I came to enjoy the extensive cast of Clas 1-A. Not sure what's the difference between this and some other shounens where similar things tended to grind my gears (maybe not forcing each member of the class to have a pointless duel in each arc ?) but even if a lot of them are still flat and undeveloped, I like their mutual interactions. They feel like a genuine class. Oh and, I can't believe what I'm saying but I kinda like Bakugou now. I still thinks its poor choice to have a character art start from a place, where the character flaw is magnified to comical proportions with absurd reasons for it but he's come a long way now. I hope Todoroki will get some spotlight soon too. It's been a while since the tournament arc and I'm a always a sucker for characters like him. Deku could stand to loose some his "I will protect you" cheese and his moveset starts to get tiring but he's still alright.
So, a good read to be sure, just hope Horikoshi didn't shoot his load and will be able to continue in this vein.

hard to explain it without too much spoiler, but you will get it as the story goes
This must be how Kiryu felt after fighting two goddamn tigers and the big bad on top of Tokyo tower with his burning red hot sexual energy and bear hands at the end of yakuza 2.
I also find it...interesting that the most...uh...interesting turn in Hajime no Ippo recently is Takamura's growing resentment for Ippo. After a real lengthy period of stalling and shit fights we finally get a great, one of the best, Ippo fights and when he loses it sparks in Takamura this anger that we're not used to seeing from him but that comes from a legitimate place.
Toriko needs to bring down the power levels
Just by a little maybe
But that was just harmless spanking.
The enemies in Toriko are on another lvl compared to Toriko himself it's funnyBut that was just harmless spanking.
At least am glad that there's still a chance I will "get it: at some point and not just my shit taste.
You know, I remember Dowman doing some sort of Persona fanbook beforeVH is a great ride, but man isn't confusing as fuck especially towards the beginning. Just accept Dowman into your heart, and all will make sense.....(it will not, Dowman is a crazy person that we have all come to accept and love for all his quirks).
And here is some random new Dowman art...

Series that almost made you quit manga?
Not really any series that made me quit it. If anything, reading more manga is what made me almost quit watching anime since I find less and less things to pay attention to each season.
I need your help smut lord, I remember reading a manga similar to this one where the sister who is not a sister but an adopted cousin made the brother be interested in her by eliminating every porn of him that didnt included a little sister character and a girl want to put a strapon and do him but after saying that she runs and is run over by a trailer, something like thatOniichan Control ch31 (End)
It ended a bit abruptly on a typically vague note and with way too little bloodshed to my liking, but at least someone got a happy ending.
