Claymore was really cool until it started the Evangelion bullshit.

Speaking of which, I think its a good time to start my yearly Angel Densetsu read. KIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

It's a yankee gag manga about a boy who looks fucking scary but has a heart of gold. Shenanigans ensue. It's a simple premise but has a masterful delivery.

Basically one of the best manga to have ever graced Jump and of all time.

I really wish they would actually use this opportunity to get Yukihira on the council of ten. This manga could use a good shake up like that right now. Probably won't happen any time soon though.

Not a bad chapter. I like this series when it focuses on interactions with characters that aren't cartoon villains.

Yotsubato

More got translated, yesssss. Funny that they were surprised that Yotsuba is good at yoga; she's a little kid. Little kids are like ninja and can just do that stuff, of course she's gonna be good at it.

Even though almost every chapter is just a five year old being cute as humanly possible, I can't ever get enough of this series. Also, Asagi continues to be best girl in manga. Her interactions with Yotsuba are the best parts.

Can't be worse than Shamo's ending.

man, angel densetsu was so good.

Yeah, definitely one of my top 5 manga. Claymore was a huge let down.

Angel Densetsu is a 12/10 manga. I haven't read it in years yet I still remember it vividly.

Glad I'm not the only one who loves Angel Densetsu! I always had the impression it was at this point at mostly unknown manga.
As it was already explained, the concept is simple and the always use the same joke. Which is part of the miracle of the series, how it is funny during all those chapters despite using a single type of joke. Genius, I say.

Yotsuba 93

Princess Yotsuba is great. But she should be laughing "OHOHOHO" for perfection.

Yep, it was a very good chapter. There are a few more kind of-like-Yotsuba mangas out there, but moments like when she notices the 'hair' is dragging around the ground... and that's actually a positive in her world view. Or when she laughs in the mirror, or when she tries the dress, these are moments that elevate Yotsuba above imitators. Good stuff.

Angel Densetsu is a masterpiece and a must-read.

Are you kidding? Can't tell if it's a joke or not...
That's so... bizarre...

Claymore might be the only manga I just didn't care to continue reading after a big plot twist because it just drained all my enthusiasm. The chapter with the reveal is just the very definition of meh, lukewarm and eh.
Manga was pretty good until that point though.

Prison School 227

That was both insufferable slow and painfully fast. But that final page was ace.
Principal continues to be the most amazing thing.

Hajime No Ippo 1151

Here-we-go-again.
He might just be the most frustrating shounen protagonist of all time.

B-Dubs

Correct me if I'm wrong but Claymore's ending is bad because the plot just stopped without really wrapping things up correct?

Honestly I think people were just pissed they didn't go to the mainland, despite that not having much to do with Clair's narrative arc.

I'm fine with the end. Even though when I started reading it monthly, about a year before the end, it didn't pass me emotion. Maybe the pacing wasn't good enough for a monthly read. That said I really like Claymore but and Angel Densetsu is god tier.

I liked Claymore's ending and saw nothing wrong with it, despite the obvious cheap way to conclude the story, though I don't think the manga would have become better if it was expanded outside of that place.

I think Kurosaki Ichigo still holds that crown.

Ippo's pretty up there though. I think it has just as much to do with his life outside of boxing, than the mentality he takes to the ring. On the flip side, it'd be pretty dull for him to just earnestly plow on through with no hang ups, especially for a manga that runs this long.

The ending was allright, it's the point between that whole "Claire fuses with the sisters" thing and the ending that drags it down.

This made me check the HnI wiki (and realize that i've gotten more enjoyment out of reading that than the manga). Ippo still hasn't fought the world champ, god damn. eleven hundred chapters and still not there. ffs.

Some things caught my eye, like takamura's list of recent opponents

Richard Bison, Peter Rabbitson, Ronald Duck, Rickey Mouse, Richard Fox, David Eagle, Larry Bernard, Bryan Hawk.... what...

Grappler Baki 19

This makes no sense.

The manga started with baki going to orochi's karate tourney and humiliating his students. Then orochi met and tested him in a hallway. Was quite clear that baldie didn't know him, but knew, from the way baki reacted, that he fought on the Obligatory Underground Tourney, because of course one exists.

Then we get to the super seekrit tourney and OH HEY, BAKi'S A CHAMP AND A FAN FAVOURITE, and orochi's ultra knowledgeable about every aspect of this crap.

Like... what....

Yep, Yotsuba is too good for this world. I still don't understand why it doesn't have an anime.

Asagi is the best everything and her interactions with Yotsuba are always super sweet. She notices all the wacky things Yotsuba does and plays along because she was exactly like her when she was a kid. And in that, it gives you an idea of the awesome person Yotsuba herself will eventually grow up to be.

The mangaka doesn't want an anime because he doesn't want any more porn of the characters, so the rumor goes. I heard that years ago, and I never seen a source so who knows the real reason....

I've read that it's because he doesn't believe it would transition to anime well.

I doubt that. Pretty sure he did some doujins himself back in the day.

To my knowledge he hasn't, but I think a lot of copycats came out when Azumanga became big that can imitate his character art (his landscape/architectural drawings are much tougher to recreate but artists of "that" media don't really need to copy that), so maybe that's the stuff you were seeing.

I doubt h-doujins were the reason though, even though Azuma seems to avoid that stuff heavily in his work. That's probably one of the reasons I like his works so much, he doesn't care about that stuff at all. Well, that and his teenage girls actually look and act like teenage girls.

It's because the creator thinks it wouldn't transition well.

This is the actual reason if I recall right, as rubbish as it is because Yotsubato would be a fuckin' fantastic anime series.

Prior to these series, he worked on a hentai manga called Inma no Ranbu under the pseudonym Jōji Jonokuchi.
Looks like his doujins were non-h, though. Mostly based on NGE and Sailor Moon.
This is not rare at all. Many authors start their careers drawing hentai.
