I was mainly referencing this old post, since I've yet to actually read Nisekoi.
What the fuck? I was thinking that maybe it was something during the invasion or something from an earlier arc that I forgot but spin off characters? That is so fucking stupidBlack Clover 82
Okay I was overly confused about this chapter since they just tossed in 3 new characters that somehow Aster and co met before and had some event with even though I never saw them before.
Apparently this series has a light novel spinoff that coincides with the manga
that is overly confusing and cheap if I may toss my two sense in
they should've tossed that story in the manga if it actually would later on have importance... I mean now we somehow have someone knowing another unknown secret for another character in this story but instead of actually presenting it evenly they just casually tossed it in with the belief we know everything else

Also a light novel? Seriously? I mean I love Black Clover and all but writing a LN out of it sounds so fucking silly, how do you translate a by the books shounen manga into another medium?
......I'm sorta happy I stopped reading this manga around 20 chapters in then, this would piss me off beyond words.
I started thinking the same some months ago. But I've been silent until now.
It's because MangaGAF sucks. I would say I like more manga than anime, but animeGaf is better than mangaGaf.
90% of the posts as you said are one-liners, super short impressions of a new chapter. They are so short that are worthless, they basically are "this is good", "this is lewd", "this is so-so", "X happened", etc.
I think the difference is that AnimeGaf "more" responsive to lengthy post. That is to be expected though since anime have a set list of shows per season, makes it easier for people to react to since they are nore likely to watch the same show. Meanwhile manga is much more flexible at that with different publishing schedule. There's no fixed set of reading in certain amount of time and thus people are less likely to read the same thing. Not to mention that by pure number manga eclised anime by huge margin for obvious reasons (just look at lewd titles that Zweizer had read and posted an impression here, inexhaustible) .That's not a whole lot different to many anime posts, super short impressions of single episodes. Certainly that's what mine are like Its only a tiny minority that post large blog like entries.
I hope it's not a long ban...
Wait, did the discussion I started get Oni banned after replying to that one post, or was it due to some other reason?
Smarm aside, what I enjoy in AnimeGAF is that it's a bit easier to talk about specific shows since, as you guys have stated, there's way fewer anime shows airing each week compared to manga, and the amount of content on each episode is larger in contrast to what a single manga chapter can offer.
Maybe I'd be better off in individual manga OTs, rather than the general thread, but then again I'm not all that much into it due to how rare and expensive manga is in Argentina... I've been reading a couple things in Crunchyroll, but I'd rather have physical manga that can be read on the go without murdering my tourist SIM data.
I've already posted about it in the Anime OT and I got a couple replies, but I guess I might as well post it here: I'm looking for JP manga series that focus mainly on character development and aren't too long (since I can't take >30 volumes' worth of manga back home this time around), with series such as Kokoro Connect, Umineko or the Monogatari series being my favorites. I'll be checking the OT out and doing some research on series soon, but if anyone else wants to chip in, I'd really appreciate it as well.

It's a tradition alright.

If anything, I haven't posted enough of them!
As for recommendation,
I already mentioned it in the previous page, 'the private report on my lesbian experience with loneliness'
It's only one volume and you could read the preview on author pixiv if you're not so sure if it's to your liking. Just search for Eita Kabi Pixiv.
There also several series like
- Solanin
- Boys on the run
- Ressentiment
As striferser suggested, most series by Kengo Hanazawa are solid picks. I'd also add Goodnight Punpun, Spirit Circle, The Music of Marie, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia and Majime na Jikan to the list.
I'd suggest 7 Seeds, as it has arguably the best character development I've read in manga, but it's a long-runner that currently clocks at 32 volumes...
Mizukami Satoshi Trinity Works:
Lucifer and The Biscuit Hammmer (10 volumes)
Sengoku Youko (17 volumes)
Spirit Circle (6 volumes)
While his work is not mainly about study of character and their growth, the themes that integral to his story involved a lit of character development whether thay are main or supporting cast. One of the strong point of Mizukami is how he can managed to tell all of his story within small number of volume compared to his contemporary (Sengoku Youko could be actually said as two series manga that happened to be serialized as one).
As for suggestions:
Lucifier and the Busciut Hammer
Inari Konkon (can get melodramatic at points)
*Masturbation Master Kurasawa (their is a specific inflection point)
*Molester Man
Don't let the titles of the last two fool you as they are not as they seem (the first one kinda plays it straight until at the inflection point and the second one doesn't)
Thanks again for all the recommendations! I'll be looking into them and seeing whether I can pick some of them up via Book Off, or if I'll have to order them through Amazon instead. One thing I can't ever understand is how I'm supposed to search for specific series in there. For example, for my Monogatari LNs I know I've got to search for japanese novel authors starting with "Ni" (for Nisio), but finding the Umineko manga has been mostly about running around the manga aisle until I find the GFC label (and not the GC or GJ logos, which are pretty similar). The weirdest part is that the GFC mangas are pretty far apart from the other ones with similar names, so I think I might be misunderstanding how manga sorting is actually supposed to work.
I'll second Molester Man too, but it's not something you can get physically (it wasn't published in Japan either as far as I know)Dang... Regardless of my preferences in review methods, it's a pain when people just show up to diss stuff out of the blue, and I get why someone might get worked up over that kind of behavior.

The president who looks despicable, partly thanks to his eyes. He's pretty great character though.
It's been ages since I posted thoughts in mangaGAF but this manga is so good, everybody's gotta read it.
Its a lil manga called Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai - Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen. The story is basically bout these elite student council members, specifically Shinomiya and President, who've developed feelings for one another but neither will want to confess due to ego, instead trying to scheme their 'opponent' to confess. So its kind of a mind game between the two that never ends in a confession but a hilarious outcome none the less. It doesnt just involve mind games though, the series also likes to include just slice of life moments between characters when they're not doing confession schemes.
The art can be most of the time rough or weak, not bad though, but there are times where the inking definitely adds more oomph to the art. Also two of the characters in manga remind of Persona characters, just to note.
The jokes are fantastically funny, to the point where I'd say each chapter always made me laugh, partly due to the expressions and partly due to some really good writing and payoff. And if it isnt doing jokes, the mangaka does a great job nailing the more adorable moments between Shinomiya and President, so much so, you'd be hard-pressed to argue that these two shouldn't end up together!
Besides the two, you've also got the big boob bimbo Fujiwara who easily steals the scenes when the other two are doing schemes of sorts and a couple of other side characters who are pretty fun to see interact with the not-couple of the series.
I'll leave a few samples of some of the great writing the manga has below.
The worst thing is that its only 38 chapters so far and wish there was more!
Kaguya must be confessed to is bullshit because the premise is flawed. As a guy, I wouldn't give a fuck if I was lower on the totem pole to my girlfriend, because I know that I was dating her.
Welcome brother, the crumpets and tea are on the left.

Just spit balling here since i'm basically making assumptions on an aspect of Asian culture that might not be accurate whatsoever
Yea but it seems more than a personal issue and instead a cultural/societial one wherein you have to show that you are worthy in other areas in order to compensate because you are on the lower end of the totem pole. And its not just for the MC but for Main Female as well (especially with the specific "values" her family has recently outlined; which are fucking insane).
Because of this i wouldn't be suprised if there is some suitor/marriage interview arc at some point.
Plus he doesn't know that she doesn't care about his status. *shrug*
My beef with the premise is their crazy interpretation of love/relationships
Well yeah, you're a normal person. The whole premise hinges on the main couple being delusional idiots.Kaguya must be confessed to is bullshit because the premise is flawed. As a guy, I wouldn't give a fuck if I was lower on the totem pole to my girlfriend, because I know that I was dating her.
I'm more of a cake man myself but I welcome the biscuits
Eh, it makes sense given the character's egos, both are at the top of their games and neither want to be the bottom, in terms of relationships.
I really hope the suitor thing doesnt happen, its uninteresting to me. Unless, its Ishigami. Just to see the eruption between the two.
Love Tyrant ch40
Yeesh, such messy families. At least they reunited again.
You never know, there might be a stronger boss.

Koe no Katachi
I remember reading this back when it was still running, but stopped for some reason. But I liked what I read of it, so I decided to pick it back up.
I'm a little on the fence on it now, however. It started strong, but sort of petered out halfway through. It felt like the story was somewhat rushed after the suicide attempt, and it just ended halfway through. I was hoping for a better resolution between Ishida and Ueno, and also with Ishida's former friends.
But most importantly, the relationship between the 2 main characters just goes nowhere. It starts with Ishida wanting to devote his life to Nishimiya, and it ends with that. Nishimiya doesn't really grow out of here demure mannerisms, and I feel like she just latches on to Ishida too easily (which might be due to her character but still). And nothing really shook the relationship despite all the problems faced. Maybe I'm just missing something.
I feel like this was a missed opportunity in really exploring the relationship with the bully and the bullied. It's a interesting look at the life of a disabled child, but just doesn't do enough in finishing what it started.
(Maybe I should have put some pictures here.)
Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki 53-67
I remember back then everyone was following the series as it got released, and yeah, the latter half was definitely not as strong as the beginning, and it seemed like the author somewhat ran out of idea on how to portray the differences and difficulties that deaf people encounter, and thus switched towards a bigger focus on bullying in particular, which got kinda messy towards the end.
Lack of babies aside, the ending was stereotypical but overall it remained an alright series.
Wait, all Fujiyama-san chapter have been released? Time to write impression then!Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki 53-67, END
This had a small bump in quality in the last chapters, and now we see why, it was because the series was ending so it was time to make a final push in their relationship and have a pair of good scenes.
Overall it was a decent romantic SoL, although I would have preferred less SoL in there. The series had a big period of chapters in the middle where nothing happened, it was just random life moments with a cute couple, but as cute as they are I didn't need 30 chapters of the characters and the story itself lazing around, with ~15 of them it would have been enough.
The ending itself is not exactly a good climax,in the second to last chapter they just declare their love in the field trip, their friends are happy fo them, and that's it, the last chapter is an epilogue that could be a random chapter taken from the middle of the manga. It gives me ambivalent feelings, I wouldn't have liked some artificial drama shoehorned in the last chapters to have a meaningful ending, but this was a bit underwhelming, for example the author could have put a chapter or two more showing more reactions (positive, negative, jealousy, incredulity, scorn, inquisitiveness, etc) from the other students.
Seems like another case of mangaka need to learn how to ends your manga in the right time.I remember back then everyone was following the series as it got released, and yeah, the latter half was definitely not as strong as the beginning, and it seemed like the author somewhat ran out of idea on how to portray the differences and difficulties that deaf people encounter, and thus switched towards a bigger focus on bullying in particular, which got kinda messy towards the end.

God, I wish she stayed home more often now, this shit was hilarious.
The way the author managed to make such a meticulous portray of her past experiences is truly amazing. Definitely gonna appreciate this even more when I'll be able to re-read it in one go.

Hajime no Ippo 1155
Just retire.
I agree with you. First half was great, second half not so much. There was a point in where I believed where the series was going, with Ishida not being sociable and opening himself to others and healing himself (remember the X in almost everyone faces?) as he interacted with Nishimiya who would allow to forgive himself (and it would have been thematic if she is the one who saves him, despite their past), dropping the X's and turning finally in a normal teenager in high school. But the series don't go that way. Nor is the second half about their love story, in that sense the series is disappointing.
