i hate her but only because i see a reflection of myself from high school in there
Toriko had amazing characters that all went to shit except for the Disciples (and even Jirou got a super shitty ending with only a little closure with Teppei). But the stupidest thing was hyping a lot of things that never saw any evoluton at like 20 chapters from the end. Like Mitsutoshi spent a whole chapters on the 4HK demons only for them to be off-screened. Tommyrod and Grinpach got revived only for them to get 1-paneled, again, why? Likewise Alfaro, Kuromado and Niceny.
Like seriously, Toriko from 100 to 250 was super dragged on, and then skipped power levels and character development for no reason, like Toriko getting THREE demons of which one never was relevant except for stalling the Horse King and the other just delivered the final blow to Acacia. Why not use blue for that? Why introduce White 30 chapters from end? Why bring up GOD being a super powerful being only for him to fight 2 chapters and then magically disappear the rest of the ending? Just making him a super difficult ingredient to prepare would've smoothed a lot the ending instead of having that super confusing end fight.
Toriko gave us an amazing first 100 chapters, 150 more good chapters, and then just hypebombs for the rest of the manga. And it also gave us the three disciples which were just amazing all along.

Well I guess it's a good place to end it as any, in the last chapter she almost interacted with people like a normal person.
The manga humor really shifted in the last chapters, I still remember that one chapter years ago in which she imagined to be part of anime-stile club at school.
Can't wait for them to connect it to Holic/Tsubasa trainwreck or to put it on hiatus.

This week on dumb stuff people say. I'm immensely disappointed that the car crew are all either female or flooded with pain, because it means we're missing out on what could be a visual feast. As opposed to the literal feast that they're about to experience. The MC and Kiri's past meeting isn't surprising in the slightest, fortunately there was no childhood promise made.

It's weird that an ecchi author is doing the art for this (as far as I know) because the fact that the goblins rape isn't what bothers me, its rather the way how its displayed. When thinking about this and Berserk, I can't think of any manga I've read that both had rape as a reoccurring event in the story and had it portrayed in a horrifying way minus the titillation. If anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to check them out

I'd suggest you read Goodnight Punpun, Getenrou, Sakura no Sono, Marginal, and Lychee Light Club.
Now, if you feel like in a braver mood, the more adult side of fiction has plenty of such works. In particular, ShindoL's Emergence is pretty good.

Today I learned that blocking unblockable attacks is a silly idea. These friendly exchanges went roughly as expected, though there's a chance of Kurumi picking herself up at the start of the next chapter and/or her comrade coming to her aid in time. I'm still having a hard time siding against scissor girl.

So I went a bit nuts and bought 70 volumes of the One Piece manga, 13 volumes of Yotsuba&! and the Azumanga Daioh omnibus. Guess I felt bad that I've been reading One Piece for free all these years and have been loving it.
Now I'm looking to buy a Dragon Ball full set but it seems like sort of a mess, where each version out right now have their own flaws like censorship, or poor quality paper and the definitive versions which are full color are only up to the Frieda saga, with only 3 volume releases a year. So yeah that sucks, such an iconic series shouldn't be like this.

Haha, there's a prequel-sequel to Lychee Light Club that fleshes out the characters a lot, which you should read as well.
Furuya's others works, The Music of Marie, and Genkaku Picasso, don't really feature rape, but are well worth reading as well.

Premise is about a guy who gains the ability to hear the inner thoughts of others by touching them because a new transfer student with the same powers fell in love with him. Lots of drama, a good dose of comedy, and great characters. First 12 chapters are great and there are already many sides I'm already rooting for. Really easy to get into the this manga. Excited for more.

Honestly I've liked the direction this manga went. In a world where people find entertainment in cringing, I literally find Ben Stiller movies unwatchable so the humor this manga originally had felt way too much like punching down and was depressing for going on as long as it did. It got into a rut. When it began to shape Tomoko and evolve her and get her to start being a ball of awkward bouncing off of others it became significantly more interesting and funny as a result. Her being a fucking shitty weirdo in the middle of a bunch of other characters is funnier by far than her constantly being a sad, lonely piece of shit by herself.
Her dad finding the massager will never not be funny tho.
Alice in Borderland Side Story and in General
The real strength of this manga has, and will always be, the author's backstory and characterizations. Everyone in this manga has experienced tragedy or has some messed up backstory and the way he gets you into the games is through them. Because honestly, while the death games can be fun at times they're not particularly inventive for the most part. The mindfuck ones can be but the vast majority are just...death games. So it makes you way more into it because this guy can write VERY good character depth which is incredibly surprising. Specifically I can throw out the leaders of the beach, the trans lady, Agni, the useless guy in the pole touching game...I mean he has so many really good character stories that make so much of the action in the games have meaning. And the MC isn't some awful whiner either, he goes through some super rough shit. Ya kinda want him to stop moping sometimes just because he's actually really smart and crafty and you want to see him succeed.
Best girl is trans girl tho. 2nd best is Legless Girl. Best boy is Agni. 2nd best boy was Naked King.

And that a lot of the side characters have their own thing going on. Still hilarious to see Ohma completely out of his element when it comes to the Kure assassin girl and the interaction between the Kure guy and the Pleasure Group guy was hilarious. When he's like:
"Why would you break your clan's code to sell yourself to a company?"
And then the pleasure group girl walks up in a micro bikini.
"Wait, don't tell me you broke your laws for a wo-"
"I look forward to settling this on the battlefield and testing our skills and whatever and okay bye gotta go"

I knew it. The dude who does Nejimaki Kagyu has an extremely surreal and exaggerated style that seemed perfect for horror and this manga is totally a horror manga even if it is also a fighto bloody manga. The dude really has an eye for making like...exaggerated grotesque stuff.
Basically a girl who is destined to die in a year is searching for a way to be immortal and follows rumors to find the immortal Kijin who decides to join her in hopes he can find a way to die. So they journey and encounter a lot of folklore-y monsters like Ippon-Datara and Jiangshi and such. A good set up and the characters are funny and charming so it makes the blistering pacing not hurt as much. And holy shit is the pacing fast as fuck. I wish he spent more time with characters but honestly it's entertaining enough that it's not a dealbreaker. The action is good, the comedy is good, the gore is good, the artstyle is good, it's just a good manga.
Also because it's by the author of Nejimaki Kagyu DEM FUCKING HIPS AND THIGHS.

Maybe I'm a total tryhard edgy weeaboo but I super enjoy the realistic "Magical Girls in a Combat Scenario" tone because it's not just a Madoka clone or whatever, it's taking magical girls and utilizing them as advanced weapons or operatives in military scenarios which is entertaining as fuck. Unfortunately for a lot of people the fan-service/everyone has big breasts stuff might turn them off but for me it doesn't.
I know War Nurse's specialty was healing and such but considering she continued to be an operative you'd think she wouldn't get completely housed by a knock-off magical girl. I hope she puts up more of a fight next chapter because Jesus, she came out looking fucking amateur.
