Not directly related to this chapter, but anyone else get the feeling Isshiki will lose to hype one of the new council members? I feel like they won't have all three rebels win in this first round, and since Soma won't lose because protagonist and Megashima hasn't done anything to this point, Isshiki seems the most likely to take the fall

Actually, lots of great faces in general this chapter. Yuki's face as she hugs Isshiki and Urara/Evil Megumi is really good. Then there's the Instant Yakisoba reaction.

Yeah I mean, not on their own, but in conjunction with more typical fighting. Someone grabs you, just poke them in the eye. That kind of thing.

You should be grateful she's only encouraging you rather than removing it by force. With the princess's ability to create her own powerful artefacts, this chapter is further evidence that the demon army is more likely to be defeated by her than by the human forces.

Gotta love how the chapter was all lovey/dovey/full of hope and then the mangaka pulls a 180. Am I the only one getting rushing-to-the-end vibes? I hope they don't cancel it. We have yet to see that bad ass samurai from the earlier chapters show up again.

Eiji's an excellent user of the same plot point to further the story and pace - I remember the April Fool prank her brother played on her in the early chapters. In fact, his repeated usage of such makes this series great in my book.

I think it goes if Soma loses, he's eliminated, then the next player in his team goes up against her and that goes on until an entire team is eliminated. Technically, it could go Soma wins all 3 matches and his teammates wouldn't even do anything. Doubt it though I'm guessing it'll go win-lose-win-lose-win or lose-win-lose-win-win/lose so we get to see everyone have a matchup, especially since we've never seen Isshiki or Megashima cook.

I'm also hoping for Team Rebels to legit win, stomp would be even better, and that we don't get some talk-no-jutsu kind of loss but win.

We have
- dude with awkward personality and quirks that gets introduced to sport and turns out to be a monstrous talent because of said quirks right from the start.
- random nobody deliquent assholes that turn up just so that they can talk shit about MCs only friends golf skills, so that MC has a reason to pick up the golf club and prove them wrong.
- 'power golf', lol.

I'm not impressed.

Jokes aside, we're starting to actually get a clear idea of what management is doing. Seems like they're getting data from all the strongest fighters in order to make brainwashed super fighters. Karate Old Guy is still playing dumb when it's obvious he is completely up on all of it.

I still think the lady running all the fights is super silly and cute. That panel of her trying out her different "fufufu" laughs got me.

And holy shit, the reaction of the two team leaders to that stupid fucking game when it exploded during their super serious conversation was absolutely hilarious.

This was super effective and was one of the few good uses of "showing us a character's backstory before killing him" that I've seen. They REALLY built up Raian to be an antagonist that you want to see get fucking killed. Even his sister wants him dead. Like fuck, I can't wait for him to get his come-uppance.

The key point of the arc is pretty clearly that the Rebels don't follow a strict constructed style of cooking and therefore, adding each other's ideas to their own will give them a big tactical advantage despite the fact that they're probably overmatched in terms of individual cooking skill. It ties in with Erina going full good-guy because she previously embodied the opposite idea.

Yeah but it could still go something like last match, both teams tied and central actually end up winning by a tiny margin BUT through the rebels efforts, teamwork, creativity Azami changed his mind. Some shit like that
