Why did they change Zeff's story in the anime of One Piece so that he simply lost his leg while trying to save sanji instead of cutting it off himself?

Seems like a really pointless change.

We don't want to expose cannibalism to kids, do we?

In order to prevent an epidemic of kids chopping off their own legs.

That's stupid. The sight of like 7 or 8 year old Sanji's shriveled up body is far more disturbing than the idea of an adult using his own leg for sustenance

This entire fight reminds me of some Resident Evil game or movie. Good stuff.

the power of one piece, creating one-legged kids everywhere

"Bungaku Shoujo" to Ue Kawaku Yuurei (Light Novel) - aka, "Book Girl and the Famished Spirit." So I've had this forever and put it off for reasons. I couldn't sleep so I decided to read it (well, and Suicidal Mime because I wanted to be in the right mood).

Hm. Well. There's a lot of sadness in this. It's been years since I've read the book this story is based around so I got to avoid drawing parallels (that and the book isn't name dropped until too late anyway~!). I appreciate the coded messages but they weren't really that well coded :| Not that they "spoil" things anyhow, really?

As for the story itself, it's quite a full-fledged tragedy compared to Suicidal Mime. Despite the teasings in the creepy text, it doesn't really get that same creepiness from Suicidal Mime either. Which was a bit of a shame early on, especially after re-reading the first book, but the story it goes for is less fitting for it so it works out for the best. Instead, a more "normal" mystery goes on to drive the plot and it reads more sinister rather than creepy.

I don't know if I should ever expect a happier story, though. Nor am I sure if I even want a happier story. The bittersweet and tragedies are what get real emotion out of this one. There's some more backstory angst and some teasings here and there as well which is nice in a way.

I will say that reading text tsunderes is vastly different to manga tsunderes. Maybe it's the lack of blushlines? Regardless, now I get to sit here and debate starting Book 3.

I now understand the full power of twitter. The fact that Fukuchi is tweeting that he's almost done looking for assistants means a new series is hopefully in progress!

49 1-3 (END)
Short but sweet shoujo story about a town where the dead live on as ghosts for 49 days, before moving on to the afterlife. The (brief) plot is about the FeMC losing someone close to her, and how she grows from the experience. There's too little time to become attached to the characters, but it's still rather touching because of the emotional subject matter. One of the better shorts I've read.

Aunt Tits 126

The Power of Alcohol.

twitter is life

well actually tsun is love tsun is life but eh
Only use I've found for twitter so far is stalking Ishikawa Emi. Which is enough to validate its existence.

Man, I really want to read this now. I've been trying to hold out until the manga's fully released, but with it stalled at 7 of 30 chapters for over a year I'm not sure how feasible that's going to be. Anyway, as long as it's vaguely reminiscent of the style of psychological mystery that made me enjoy Suicidal Mime so much, I'll be happy. Captive Spirit isn't looking likely to get a manga anytime soon (though it did get two drama CDs), so it's probably safe to start that whenever.

If you just accept that basically nothing goes well in Akame ga Kill it's fine.

And then you can bathe in the Esdese.

yes but you sent the images after you told me reasons why I shouldn't read it

like you did with rage town

the mixed messages man

Let's be real here, the stuff from rage town I linked were reasons to not read it. It was from the premature ejaculation chapter, if I recall. Come on man.

Akame ga Kill I was upfront about as well. Esdese is Esdese.

Edit: Besides that, my only real suggestion is that you should read Suicidal Mime :x

Akame ga Kill is basically a race to see which runs out first: Side characters to kill or death flags.

Planetes Vol 2

Terrorism, terrorism everywhere. Interesting to see him go from not keeping himself well and not working out to basically relying on his body to get him where he wants to be. The chats he has with himself are cool as well. The romanceishish side felt underdeveloped as it was basically 2 hints and then timeskips but I'll accept it to move onward with the story.

Wait...what else did they change in the anime? I watched the anime from the beginning to Thriller Bark then got up to the current arc via the manga. I gotta know, how much stuff changed in the anime. Is it just Zeff's leg being cut off by an achor?

I dunno about this, honestly. Waratte sotomura was barely alright because it's one of a kind in how samey it is throughout but I'm not sure if I can read another series that is like that.

If you're caught up, there's a wiki page for changes between anime and manga. They're mostly in East Blue before the anime got too occupied with slowing the pacing to think about changing the content.

retcon: seems like they deleted the page and put each arc's differences into the arc's page.

Going to be a cumbersome process but Ill get through. So far, seems like they mostly removed the gory parts of the manga and extended some scenes from the manga. Oh and the added filler episodes. Might watch some of those fillers, if they're good.

Man, reading a manga about ancient Chinese history with their Japanese name is suck. I guess I must get used into it.
Also, to those who already far into Kingdom, have Li Si, the crazy legalist appeared yet?

Can't say, I'm watching the anime from the start for the first time (caught up with the manga about a week ago)
I do know that they have arlong hold the pistol to bellemere's chest instead of her forehead during the execution scene (though I'm still a few eps from seeing that).

I also know that they censor Whitebeard's injuries at Marineford (half of his face is blown off in the manga, half of his mustache is blown off in the anime... though they still keep all the holes in his chest)

Basically seems like they censored some of the more graphic content. Less blood and gore, and whatever they interpret as being inappropriate (implied gunshot to the brain vs the heart, starvation after loss of leg at sea vs loss of leg in a desparate attempt to fight off starvation)

Yeah, the censor sure makes the anime seem softcore. I may need to re-read the manga or just some parts that contain the differences. Time to hit nostalgialand.

Oh god.

Just reached the End of the world arc from hayate.

Time to buckle up.

You know it came sooner then expected. Dunno if it just means that this arc took a long ass time so in my mind it started later.

Just to note, Ouki is not Wang Jian.

And for your earlier question, Ri Shi / Li Si is around.

Wait, he's not Wang Jian?
Note taken. He's still fabulous though, just can't get enough of that smile and beards, and his retainer.
Yes, I asked that earlier but I managed to found his Japanese name just a moment a go.

Super cute. A josei manga about a "princely" boy who lies all the time, because when he was a child he was honest to the point that it negatively affected his social life. But then his childhood friends transfer in, and his image comes under fire.

Interesting premise, although I guess the bullying/discrimination themes are nothing new. The characters are all rather endearing so far, despite not being particularly developed. A good read, and definitely following this one.

I do wonder how the story will progress though, as it doesn't seem to have a central plot. Will it become something like Detective Conan?

Akuma no riddle

At a boarding girls' high school where every student is assassin, they target only one life - "Ichinose Haru". Similarly, "Azuma Tokaku" is an assassin who transferred schools to target her, however she gradually became attracted to "Haru" and decided to protect her. Extreme school life START!

Huh.

Interesting premise at least, being AssClass without the silliness (or that much ass if the designs of the girls are anything to go by). Seems like it's going to be a "A Huge Battleship" type of series.

Damn! The author really managed to pull Lu Buwei's character that well known as an eccentric. Not only that, he really able to make the court battle as much as interesting as the warfare battle. It's really nice break of pace and I think the half of it comes from Lu Buwei alone.
